Chapter 380: The Request From Peaceful Spirit Garden
Chu Jiang didn’t go to Peaceful Spirit Garden, but instead arrived at a traditional courtyard with a garden, together with the people from the Uesugi family.
As soon as they reached their destination, Hinagiku handed Michiko over to her family, then led the group into the main hall.
There was already someone waiting inside. When Uesugi Kazuya opened the door, Chu Jiang saw a noble-looking woman in a kimono, kneeling on a tatami mat, waiting.
On either side of her stood two other people: one was a chubby man smoking a pipe with a wide smile on his face, and the other was a middle-aged man dressed as a wanderer, with a sword at his waist.
As Chu Jiang entered, all three of them stood up at once.
The middle-aged man, with a smile on his face, said, "Welcome, Captain Chu, to Tokyo. We have been eagerly awaiting your arrival at Peaceful Spirit Garden."
The chubby man also spoke politely, saying, "Welcome, Captain Chu. As long as you can help us resolve the Ghost Abyss incident, please feel free to make any requests."
Both of them greeted Chu Jiang in Japanese, and there was a discreet female secretary in the corner of the room acting as a translator. In situations like this, human translation is always better than a machine.
The woman in a kimono was quiet and observing Chu Jiang.
Likewise, Chu Jiang was fully focused on observing the woman, whom he had seen before.
Is she really human? Initially, he thought she was a ghost. It seems she, like himself, is a human who accidentally entered that dark world. The only difference is he ended up at the castle, while she ended up at the Kisaragi Station.
Actually, Chu Jiang was not supposed to pass by the station in the first place. He simply forced himself to get off, and later he happened to board the Ghost Rental on another route, hence accidentally passing other stations.
After returning to the real world, Chu Jiang even searched for the signboard of "Kisaragi Station."
The result he obtained was the term "Kisaragi Station," a paranormal station that is widely known in the island nation. Occasionally, people mistakenly enter it and disappear.
"Soga Hayayuki Soga, the eldest daughter of the Soga family," the woman in the kimono placed her hands in front of her abdomen and nodded slightly as a greeting to Chu Jiang.
Calmly, Chu Jiang responded, "Chu Jiang."
Then, he looked at the three people across from him and said, "Are all of you from the Peaceful Spirit Garden? I think you might have misunderstood something. I’m just here for sightseeing."
The middle-aged man coughed and said, "I am Uesugi Kenichiro. And this person next to me is Mr. Kujo Yoshii from the Kujo family."
"The three of us are families of Yin Yang masters, and we are the current managers of Peaceful Spirit Garden. We are collectively known as the Three Noble Families."
"Of course, we are not here officially. We just want to be friends with Mr. Chu."
"But someone just said the opposite," Chu Jiang said calmly.
Kujo Yoshii felt a bit embarrassed. He took a deep puff from his pipe and said, "Actually, the Kujo family is very interested in Captain Chu. We can discuss some cooperation in private."
Chu Jiang raised his hand expressionlessly and said, "I’m not interested in any of you or Peaceful Spirit Garden. Let’s go, don’t make me forcibly remove you."
"Yuya and Hinagiku can stay. I have some questions to ask you."
Kenichiro’s face froze, and Yoshii’s eyes widened slightly. They hadn’t expected Chu Jiang to be so impolite. Yoshii was the head of the Kujo family; how could anyone dare to speak to him with such an attitude??
Soga Hayayuki remained silent. After nodding at Chu Jiang again, she left on her own.
Chu Jiang didn’t pay attention to them and just walked to the tea table and sat down, cross-legged, pouring tea for himself to drink.
Quanilang cleared his throat, then signaled with his eyes towards his two younger relatives, and took the initiative to bid farewell to Chu Jiang.
Kujo Yoshii was a bit dissatisfied, but considering Chu Jiang’s "fierce reputation," he didn’t dare to say much and just left without looking back.
After everyone had left, only the two members of the Uesugi family remained, and Chu Jiang allowed them to sit down.
"I’ll just be direct. I didn’t come here for sightseeing, just to find something."
Mr. Xu mentioned that there are relevant clues here, and you Uesugi family can provide me with some assistance, so I don’t mind having a little cooperation with you.
"However, there are some things I want to clarify first. Do you also want me to solve the Ghost Abyss?"
Actually, logically speaking, it would be faster for Chu Jiang to directly collaborate with Peaceful Spirit Garden to find the Two Realms Bell.
However, he wasn’t very confident in this organization, especially since these three families seemed to have ulterior motives and weren’t completely on the same page.
So, given the choice, Chu Jiang preferred to work with Mr. Xu’s descendants, even though the Uesugi family wasn’t exactly their own people.
He looked at Hinagiku, then spoke up, "Even though we have the Xu family’s blood in us, this country is where we grew up. Naturally, we don’t want S-class ghosts running rampant on this land."
"If possible, we still hope Captain Chu can help."
"Of course, it all depends on your own willingness. We can only try to offer conditions that appeal to you."
The Uesugi family’s main base is in the island country, so Chu Jiang understood their thoughts. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Do you know that the false god incident hasn’t been completely resolved?"
Both of them nodded. Even though it was top secret information, they were heirs of the three noble families.
"Well, I think you should be aware that despite the exaggerated praises online, I am still human and have my limits. Delving into the Ghost Abyss means I have to risk my life."
"So, at this stage, I won’t make any promises. Help me find that thing first, and then we can talk. I won’t let you suffer any losses."
"Hmm, yes," Hinagiku nodded repeatedly, "What kind of thing is it? Can you describe its general appearance and features?"
Chu Jiang thought for a moment and took out a flyer, asking, "Where are you?"
"Right beside you," a magnetic, enticing voice said as the flyer folded itself and turned into a paper woman in Chu Jiang’s hand.
The paper woman looked very similar to Sister Bel, of course, she looked very similar to her when she was wearing a black robe and a hood.
Chu Jiang placed it on the tea table and said, "You should connect with these two people, they are from the Uesugi family. We should try to get our hands on that bell without causing too much trouble."
Belfast naturally knew about the Uesugi’s reputation in the island country. She said earnestly, "Currently, we only know that it’s a bell, but we’re not sure about its design. It might be used as the ‘Honboshi Bell’ by a certain shrine."
"Do you have a way to investigate all the Honboshi Bells in shrines across the country? Or find an excuse to replace them all?"
"Um…" Kazuya hesitated for a moment. "The Honboshi Bell is not something ordinary. Its sound is the path to the divine realm."
"Some shrines have been passing down their Honboshi Bells for over a hundred years, or even more. It’s not as simple as just replacing them all."
