Chapter 93: Troubles During Training
“Head of the Feng Family?” You You paused and quickly pulled Feng Rong down from the tree. “Good evening! What brings you here?”
“Sect master, I came to find you.” Feng Yu bowed, glancing at her and Feng Rong, his eyes flashing with urgency. “Ling Qi informed me that disciples on training missions have encountered trouble. He’s looking for you!”
“What?” You You stiffened. “What happened?”
“I didn’t hear the details before rushing here…” Feng Yu shook his head.
“I’ll return to the main peak first!”
“But I haven’t finished—” Feng Rong started, but You You had already turned away. He frowned, shot Feng Yu a sharp look, then hurried after her.
In the main hall, Ling Qi stood anxiously beside a solemn Yuan Qi. Seeing You You, Ling Qi rushed forward. “Sect master, you’re here!”
“Feng Yu said the disciples are in trouble. What’s going on?” You You demanded.
Ling Qi’s expression darkened. “Since morning, most disciples haven’t responded to their Messaging Talismans. I assumed delays at first, but they’ve been silent all day. When I checked the Soul Tokens in the spirit hall…” He handed her a token carved with a disciple’s name.
You You took it. A jagged crack split the token, threatening to shatter it completely. Her breath hitched. “What does this mean?”
“Each disciple’s Soul Token holds a drop of their blood, reflecting their physical state. This crack…” Ling Qi clenched his fist. “Means the disciple is gravely injured, near death.”
“What about their partner?” You You pressed. “They were sent in pairs. Have we contacted the other?”
“No.” Ling Qi shook his head. “Not just one pair—over a dozen disciples are missing.”
“Where were they stationed? Can we track their locations?”
Ling Qi grimaced. “They’re scattered across different regions. We don’t have time to check each site.”
You You gripped the Soul Token and turned to Yuan Qi. “Can you trace them?”
“I tried tracking their Messaging Talismans,” Yuan Qi said. “But they’ve been destroyed.”
“Then what do we—”
“I’ll do it.” Feng Rong snatched the Soul Token from her. “If talismans fail, I’ll use the blood in this token to track their original spirits.”
“You?” You You hesitated. If even a Divine Clan member like Yuan Qi couldn’t manage it, how could Feng Rong—a mere Little Fire Chicken—succeed?
Yuan Qi nodded thoughtfully. “His bloodline technique… it might work.”
Reluctantly, You You released the token. “Try.”
Feng Rong formed a seal, clutching the token. Light flickered at his brow as an unfamiliar yet familiar Presence enveloped him. Before she could process it, he opened his eyes. “East. A thousand miles away.”
“East…” Ling Qi flipped through his records. “Disciples were sent to Tao Gui Town in that direction. The team there was…” He froze.
“Who?!”
Ling Qi looked up, pale. “Sect master… it’s Lin Feng.”
You You’s chest tightened. “Yuan Qi, Feng Yu—guard the sect. Feng Rong, Ling Qi—with me!” She grabbed Feng Rong’s sleeve and bolted outside.
Her sword control was unreliable, so she boarded Feng Rong’s blade, dragging Ling Qi up too. The three crowded onto one sword.
Feng Rong shot Ling Qi a glare but said nothing. Spiritual energy surged as they shot eastward.
“Sect master,” Ling Qi reported mid-flight, “Lin Feng and Yin Fan were sent to Tao Gui Town to eliminate a Tier Four Monster. They’re our strongest Foundation Building disciples—this shouldn’t have happened.”
“Yin Fan too?!”
Ling Qi nodded. “The monster shouldn’t have overwhelmed them. I don’t understand how the Soul Token cracked.”
“Obviously,” Feng Rong cut in, “they detected trouble and went to aid others, walking into a trap. More disciples are likely ensnared.”
“But their daily reports showed no issues!”
“Messaging talismans can be faked,” Feng Rong snapped. “Now they’re silent because the trap’s sprung. When I sensed the token, I detected other disciples’ Presences. Someone used Lin Feng’s group as bait.”
Ling Qi paled. “Then they’re all—”
“Either the captors plan to kill them,” Feng Rong said coldly, “or something’s gone wrong beyond their control. Either way, we’re out of time.”
You You’s hands trembled. “Faster! We need to reach them now!”
