Chapter 81: Building a Little Snowman
The two had no choice but to leave the city. You You glanced at the System Map worriedly. “What now? It’s still over a thousand kilometers to North Ridge!”
“What else? Sword control!” Feng Rong summoned his flying sword without hesitation.
“Ah!” She shot him a doubtful look. “Can we really make that distance?”
Feng Rong’s face darkened. He abruptly pulled her onto the sword and shot forward without warning.
A real man never admits he can’t do something!
You You: “……”
When did he develop this hugging-while-flying habit anyway?
You You couldn’t figure out why Feng Rong was irritated again. The sword zipped through the air so fast that the cultivator city vanished behind them in moments, leaving only rushing wind in their ears.
She finally understood what the guarding cultivator meant by “cold season” when they entered the snowy plain. The world turned blinding white, piercing cold seeped into bones, and spiritual energy in the air felt frozen solid. An eerie silence enveloped them, broken only by their own breaths.
As You You stared blankly, Feng Rong suddenly draped something over her shoulders – his outer robe. Before she could ask, he yanked her tightly against his chest, murmuring with forced calmness:
“The cold here eats through cultivators’ bodies. Spiritual energy won’t help. Stay close.”
“Huh?” She blinked. “But I’m not cold!”
Feng Rong stiffened. A crack appeared in his carefully composed expression.
“The robe’s true flames block cold air. Stop squirming.”
“I really don’t feel anything!”
“It’s protective anyway.”
“Oh… Are you cold? Maybe take your robe ba—”
“Silence!” Feng Rong’s composure shattered. “You’re cold because I say so!”
“…” Fine.
…But seriously, not cold at all.

————————
The endless snowy plain glowed unnaturally bright despite nighttime. After two hours of flying, they showed no progress on the System Map.
“This makes no sense!” You You tugged at the seething man beside her. “At your speed, we should’ve arrived already!”
Feng Rong halted midair. His eyes sharpened as he scanned the area and formed a detection seal. “Illusion!” he growled.
“What? Trapped? By who?” They hadn’t seen a single soul for hours.
“Pre-set formation in the snow.” He descended irritably. “Just disorienting, not dangerous. Destroy the formation’s core.”
“Core?” You You saw nothing unusual.
Feng Rong pointed right. “There. Spiritual energy’s warped.” He strode toward a tree.
A snow whirlwind attacked as he neared the core. He ignored the feeble assault until—
Thud! The ground swallowed him.
“Feng Rong!” You You lunged forward as avalanching snow buried him. Manic laughter echoed:
“Hahaha! Another fool caught!”
A snow-crusted figure popped up behind her, grabbing her hand with icy fingers. “Mine now, noble lady!” His eyes glinted. “Let’s make lots of snow babies!”
You You: “……”
Before she could react, roaring flames erupted from the snow pit. The entire plain sizzled as Feng Rong shot skyward wreathed in fire, eyes blazing hotter than his flames. The would-be kidnapper shriveled into a dripping snowman under his glare.
“Snow demon?” Feng Rong’s voice dripped venom. He pummeled the creature’s head. “Try making snow babies now!”
Thud! Thud! The snowman’s head developed craters.
You You: “……”
“Enough!” She dragged him back. “You’ll melt it completely!”
Feng Rong tossed the shrunken snowman aside. Suddenly, he gripped her shoulders urgently: “No making snow babies! With anyone! Ever!”
“……” What’s his damage?!
