Chapter 7: The Strange Noble Lady
Lin Feng found You You to be curiously unusual. Unlike his teammates, he’d met many women in his youth. Compared to those who were spoiled, delicate, or arrogant, this girl who’d suddenly appeared at the Abyss of the Demons was entirely different—almost *too* friendly.
In the Immortal Blessing Continent, women were exceedingly rare. Born into nobility, every family prided itself on raising daughters. A girl blessed by the heavens was considered a divine gift, earning her the title of noble lady. Even the poorest families would spare no effort to protect a noble lady—no one would let her face danger.
Men were taught from childhood never to harm women. Crimes against women carried severe punishments across nations—even minor disrespect meant years in prison, followed by lifelong scorn and exile from female company. Trafficking women? Such inhuman acts warranted the harshest penalties and divine retribution. Even legendary cultivators showed no mercy to such criminals.
Protecting noble ladies was instinctive for all men. So when they found You You at the Abyss of the Demons, they’d rushed to save her. Upon learning the border city wasn’t safe, they’d immediately decided to escort her to Shangyang City. This wasn’t just duty—for a place devoid of noble ladies, it was an honor. Her trust in them was a mark of pride.
But as a small border hunting team, they struggled to provide proper care for a noble lady despite their efforts. Guilt weighed on everyone—except You You herself.
Since leaving the city, she hadn’t uttered a single complaint. Instead, she marched energetically, refusing the horse they’d secured for her and insisting the injured Wang Xiao take it instead. She kept pace with the group, repeatedly asking, “Tired? Need help carrying that?”
At first, the men refused—no self-respecting man would let a woman shoulder their burdens. But as exhaustion set in, You You simply snatched their bags. Soon, she carried four or five packs while leading the group, striding ahead effortlessly.
Lin Feng’s team wasn’t just surprised—they were stunned. No matter how fast they chased her, she stayed steps ahead. Though initially worried she’d tire, they soon realized she moved as if the heavy packs weighed nothing.
Between checking on everyone—“Thirsty? Need a break? Keep it up, brothers!”—she radiated cheer. If not for her breathtaking beauty, Lin Feng might’ve mistaken her for another teammate. Her warmth and lack of arrogance shattered every expectation of a noble lady.
“Night’s coming. We’ll rest here,” Lin Feng announced, glancing at the darkening sky.
The six men collapsed instantly—slumping against trees, dropping luggage, gasping for breath. Only Lin Feng and You You, still laden with packs, remained standing.
You You felt no fatigue. Days of travel hadn’t drained her—if anything, she could’ve walked another hundred miles. She guessed her game-like body lacked a fatigue system.
After setting her bundles under a towering tree, she shook her empty water pouch. “I hear a stream nearby. I’ll refill this.”
“Let me—” Liu Qing started to rise, but You You was already hurrying off, her steps light as if she’d just begun the journey.
The men exchanged baffled looks. *Was this really a woman?* Their male pride withered.
Liu Qing stared after You You, then turned to the others. “Boss…are all women like her?” If *this* was “delicate,” what did that make them?
Lin Feng grimaced. “She must have divine strength. That’s why she’s different.” He’d noticed her power, though she seemed unaware.
“Liu Qing, follow her. We’re not on the official road yet—it’s not safe,” Lin Feng ordered.
Nodding, Liu Qing told the others, “Start a fire. It’ll be cold tonight—don’t let Miss You freeze.”
As the men scrambled to gather wood, Liu Qing added, “And cook porridge! She likes—”
*Thud!*
He vanished into a shadowy pit, cursing as teammates rushed over. The hole, hidden in dusk’s gloom, was barely a meter wide.
“Who digs pits here?!” Liu Qing spat, reaching up. “Pull me out!”
“Falling into holes now?” a teammate mocked. “How’ll you protect Miss You?”
“Shut it!” Liu Qing clambered out. “I’m second only to Boss! That pit’s the culprit—some idiot left red mud everywhere. Stinks like rot.”
“Red mud?!” Lin Feng yanked Liu Qing closer, inspecting his leg. His face paled. “That’s not mud—it’s regurgitated food from a Tier Four River Beast!”
The team froze.
“MISS YOU!”
They bolted toward the river.
