Chapter 63: Please Be Aware
Once You You began talking, she realized how approachable Yuan Qi was. Not only was he kind and sincere, but he also answered questions openly without holding back. His gentle demeanor, coupled with his striking appearance, made him naturally calming to be around. Perhaps because she’d called him “Dad” so often, his gaze toward her carried a hint of indulgence.
Yuan Qi explained the Moon Sea Secret Realm’s collapse was unavoidable. It had existed solely through his divine power as his resting place. Now that he’d awakened, the realm’s destruction was inevitable.
You You cared little about the realm itself but mourned the loss of what she’d nicknamed a “supermarket.” She regretted not gathering more Spiritual Plants earlier.
“Though the realm is gone, its treasures have merged into this continent,” Yuan Qi reassured her. “They’re simply scattered now.”
You You grimaced. “That makes it worse! Before, everything was in one place. Now we’ll have to search everywhere – who knows if they’ll even be free?”
Yuan Qi chuckled, patting her head. “Possessing them all might bring danger.”
“I know – ‘wealth invites trouble.’” You You nodded. The Zhen Yan Sect was still small, and contracting a Divine Clan member would draw unwanted attention. Wang Xu’s attack proved even failing sects could be ruthless. Until they grew stronger, staying discreet was wise.
Yuan Qi could’ve moved the entire realm to their sect, but scattering it diverted other sects’ focus to treasure hunting rather than questioning the Divine Clan’s awakening. You You appreciated his foresight – her “prosperity dad” was already proving his worth.
Imagining future financial security, everything seemed brighter – even Feng Rong’s flaming hair appeared more vivid.
“Who’s HE?!” Feng Rong stormed in, glaring at Yuan Qi’s forehead contract mark. His eyes burned crimson as he wheeled on You You. “Since when do you drag random men home?!”
“This is Yuan Qi, our new member.” You You explained his Divine Clan origins. While Ling Qi and others gaped in shock, Feng Rong remained unimpressed.
“You made HIM your Follower?!” Feng Rong’s finger jabbed between them. “What does this pretty-faced loner offer besides looks? And I’m clearly better-looking!”
“Enough!” You You cut in. “His abilities are invaluable. Why does my choosing a Follower anger you?”
“You–! You said Followers required caution!” he sputtered, fury making his flames flicker wildly. “Yet you grab some stranger after rejecting me?!”
Baffled, You You asked, “Do you want to ascend too? You’re Nascent Soul level. I hesitated because contracting might affect your cultivation. But if you’re certain, we can contract now.”
Feng Rong froze. Crimson flooded his face as her words looped in his mind: *She’s wanted to contract with me all along?*
His anger evaporated like doused flames. “Who wants that?!” he blustered, dragging a confused Feng Yu away. “Just don’t come crying when he betrays you!”
Back in his courtyard, Feng Rong pressed cool palms to his burning cheeks. “She worries I’ll ascend and leave… that’s why she resisted. Obviously she values me most.”
Feng Yu stared. “Master, that’s not what she–”
“I’ll keep my identity secret a while longer,” Feng Rong decided, ignoring his attendant’s dismay. “For her peace of mind.”
“But Yuan Qi’s from the Divine Clan. Could he sense…?”
Feng Rong’s fingers tightened on his sleeves. “He didn’t mention anything. We’re safe.”
As Feng Yu sighed in relief, his master’s gaze drifted toward the distant laughter echoing from the main hall – and the troublesome new bond mark glowing faintly on another’s brow.
