Chapter 59: Entering the Mysterious House
"That big one right in the middle ahead…" You You instinctively explained, then froze. "You can’t see it?!" Such a massive building!
Lin Feng looked where she pointed and shook his head. "There’s only forest ahead – no buildings."
"How?" Why could only she see it?
"Perhaps a hidden formation blocks those with lower Cultivation," Lin Feng guessed. "That’s why only you see it, Noble Lady."
"Maybe!" You You frowned, eyeing the thickening Purple Mist. "The spiritual energy there feels as rich as that spiritual vein. Let’s check it out." Maybe there were treasures!
Lin Feng hesitated but nodded. "If any danger appears, leave immediately, Noble Lady." He stepped forward.
"Wait!" She yanked his sleeve, pointing right. "This way!"
Lin Feng blinked, turning correctly. Strangely, his steps kept veering sideways as they approached, like invisible hands pulling him off course. You You kept correcting him – a straight 300-meter walk became winding detours.
He seemed unaware of drifting until she intervened.
"This confirms an illusion formation affecting nearby minds," Lin Feng said grimly, vigilance sharpening. "Making people avoid it unconsciously."
"Right." You You nodded. "But we’re here!"
Up close stood a grand hall shrouded in Purple Mist resembling clouds. The air thrummed with pure spiritual energy, yet the mist felt different – denser, strangely familiar and welcoming despite its mystery.
The wide-open door revealed only swirling purple fog beyond. "We’re going in," You You announced, taking a breath. At Lin Feng’s nod, she stepped through.
The world shifted instantly. Purple Mist vanished, replaced by endless blue sky mirroring perfectly still water beneath their feet. They stood on a celestial mirror spanning the horizon.
You You gaped. This was the house’s interior? Where were the promised Spiritual Plants and treasures? Just… this?
"Noble Lady?" Lin Feng asked when she froze. "Why stop?"
He still couldn’t see?!
Grabbing his hand, she pulled him forward.
Lin Feng’s eyes widened. "This… where are we?"
"You see it now?"
"We’re standing on water!"
"Seems touching you shares the vision." You You frowned. "Illusion?"
"If so, which is real – the forest or this?" Lin Feng muttered.
"Not sure," You You shrugged. "Let’s leave."
"Eh? Not explore?"
"Horror stories teach curiosity kills cats. No reckless moves." Better deny monsters any entrance cues.
Lin Feng: "……"
(The cat reference confused him, yet her reasoning felt sound.)
"As you say, Noble Lady." The loyal follower turned back. But as they retreated-
*Ding!* Ripples broke the water’s stillness.
Releasing her hand at the exit, Lin Feng froze. "The forest… it’s gone."
"What? Can’t leave?!"
She repeatedly grabbed/released his hand – he only saw water now. They were trapped.
……
Bubbles surfaced behind them. Pristine Lotus Flowers emerged, forming twin paths across the water.
You You stepped back. Boss battle time?
"Careful, Noble Lady!" Lin Feng shielded her, but only Lotuses waited.
"Guess we follow," she sighed. They walked the floral path.
Minutes later, a Pavilion appeared. Inside sat a blue-robed man gazing skyward, hair cascading like ink across his shoulders into the water.
Sensing them, he turned, revealing beauty rivaling Feng Rong’s. Where Feng Rong burned like flames, this man flowed like water – gentle eyes, perpetual soft smile, utterly nonthreatening.
"You came," he greeted warmly, voice like mountain springs. "Will you join me for Tea?"
