Chapter 4: He’s a Good Person

“Go!” Lin Feng decided quickly, ignoring his half-healed wounds. He staggered up and pointed northeast. “Head to yesterday’s cliff—there’s a cave to hide in!” The beast wave wouldn’t end soon. Escaping the forest was impossible now; they had to wait it out.

Accustomed to following orders, the group scrambled up instantly. Lin Feng turned to You You. His stern voice softened, considering females’ usual frailty. “Miss, forgive this impropriety, but we’ll need to…” He meant to have a brother carry her.

But You You thumped her chest resolutely. “Got it!”

She yanked his uninjured arm, bent down, and hoisted him onto her back before dashing toward the cliff. “Run!”

Lin Feng: “…”

Liu Qing: “…”

Everyone: “…”

(⊙_⊙)

He’d gotten hurt saving her—carrying him was her responsibility. Logical!

——————

You You ran effortlessly despite her load, even slowing periodically for others.

Lin Feng gaped in disbelief. Initially worried she’d collapse, he’d planned to tell her to leave him. Any man would’ve done what he did.

Yet she outpaced even him! He’d known many delicate females who’d faint at a moth’s flutter. None could’ve hauled a wounded man through a monster-infested forest.

This was… sudden.

(⊙x⊙;)

Roars intensified behind them. Glancing back revealed hordes of monsters closing in. They barely reached the cliffside cave in time.

“Seal the entrance!” Lin Feng ordered.

The last two men slashed at the cave’s mouth. Stones crashed down, blocking it save for cracks.

THOOM. The ground trembled as colossal figures stampeded past, crushing everything in their path.

Everyone exhaled—they’d made it.

You You unclenched. Though rumbles continued outside, danger had passed.

“Miss…” Lin Feng tapped her shoulder, crimson-faced. “You can set me down now.” Males rarely touched females, let alone got piggybacked. Crisis had excused it; now, embarrassment overwhelmed him.

“Right!” She lowered him gently, inspecting his bandages. “Feeling better?”

“Thanks to your Healing Potion, I’ll live.” His pulse quickened as she leaned close. “I owe you my life.”

His grave tone suggested lifelong debt. Guilt twisted her gut. “You were hurt saving me! The potion was the least I could do.”

“You flatter me…” Lin Feng began, but approaching footsteps interrupted.

“Boss.” Liu Qing frowned. “This beast wave’s worse than ever—seventh-tier monsters spotted. It won’t end soon.”

Lin Feng grimaced. “We’ll wait here days until it’s safe.” He bowed to You You. “We must ask for your grievance as we stay in this cave.”

“No problem!” You You nodded. Survival trumped comfort.

Lin Feng and Liu Qing looked mortified, as if forcing her into a hovel was criminal. “We’ll protect you,” Lin Feng vowed.

Liu Qing thumped his chest. “I’ll die before letting monsters touch you!”

Others nodded fiercely by the entrance.

You You’s eyes stung. Such selflessness! To meet heroes like this upon transmigrating… Truly, the human world overflowed with kindness!

“Thank you, brothers!” Emotion overwhelmed her. She seized Liu Qing’s hand. “But we all go home together—no one gets left behind!”

The men froze, eyes shining. Liu Qing turned tomato-red, staring at their joined hands. “I-I’ll prep the cave!” he stammered, fleeing while tripping thrice.

What’s his deal?

You You blinked. Injured after all?

Liu Qing returned soon, having cleared the cave’s rear. A polished stone slab now bore fresh straw. “Rest here!” he urged, scarlet-eared.

She gestured to a bloodied teammate. “Give the bed to him.”

“Impossible!” Liu Qing objected. “Females don’t sleep on floors! We’re tough—we’ll manage.”

Others nodded vehemently. The “injured teammate” scrambled backward like the slab was lava.

“…” Since when was chivalry this extreme?

Defeated, You You lay on the slab. The men instantly relaxed, squeezing themselves into the cave’s front third—seven burly men huddling like chicks.

Embarrassment faded quickly. Exhaustion claimed her within minutes.
