Chapter 103: The Sect’s Knowledge Repository
You You was deep in thought when Ling Qi entered. He froze upon seeing her, then quickly bowed. "Sect Master, I was just coming to find you."
"What’s up?" She fiddled with the worn Cultivation Techniques in her hand.
"It’s about Opening the Sect to recruit disciples," Ling Qi answered.
"Recruit? Already?!" You You nearly dropped the manuals. "Last month you said we shouldn’t take disciples for thirty to fifty years because we lacked resources!"
"That was true before." Ling Qi stood straighter. "But now we’re ready."
"Huh?"
"Come see for yourself." He gestured toward Qiu Zhang working in the formation. "Master Qiu, are today’s Cultivation Techniques prepared?"
"All done!" The scholar floated over, arms full of copied manuals. He dumped them into Ling Qi’s storage bag with practiced ease. "Need more? Just say the word!"
After thanking him, Ling Qi led You You toward the main peak’s back mountain. She recognized the path. "Wait, this goes to the library! Why are we—holy crap!"
The modest building she’d visited last week now loomed eight stories tall, its new roof piercing the clouds.

"We expanded to accommodate our growing collection," Ling Qi explained.
You You gaped at shelves crammed floor-to-ceiling with manuals and jade slips. Every surface overflowed with unique Cultivation Techniques.
"First floor: basic spells and monster bestiaries from Immortal Realm." Ling Qi waved upward. "Floors two through eight cover Alchemy, Talismans, Formations, Weaponry, Spells, and Monsters. The top stores rare methods few can practice."
"But…how?" You You sputtered. Qiu Zhang’s collection had been narrowly focused on swordsmanship and weaponry. Now every cultivation path was represented.
"Some came from disciple expeditions. The rest…" He nodded at her manuals. "…we traded using copies of Qiu Zhang Technique."
"Traded?!"
"When Master Qiu arrived, he insisted on spreading his technique cheaply—said you wanted it sold for ‘five dimes.’" Ling Qi’s mouth twitched. "Since top-tier manuals are priceless, I had disciples exchange them for other sects’ techniques instead. One Qiu Zhang copy could fetch ten lower-grade manuals."
You You facepalmed. She’d used "five dimes" as a metaphor!
"To maintain value, I had Master Qiu copy onto aged paper." Ling Qi tapped a deliberately yellowed page. "Gives them proper Ancient Times legacy appearance."
You You stared at the counterfeit manuals. "And other sects just…handed over their techniques?"
"Some disciples made over a dozen trips." Ling Qi gazed proudly at the packed shelves. "Don’t worry—they kept our sect’s identity secret. Fallen immortal sects’ techniques circulate freely anyway. No one will trace them here."
She surveyed eight floors of ill-gotten knowledge. "…You’re terrifying."
"…"
