Chapter 19: Thank You, Guiding Sage
This is a promising seed.
Upon uncovering the truth behind the other’s depression, Lin Qingliu made this assertion.
A young man, brimming with talent and nearly flawless except for the absence of superpowers, perfectly fit the archetype often enlightened in religious tales.
Even in his past life, Lin Qingliu had a cursory understanding of a renowned scientist’s foray into theology.
Thus, Lin Qingliu had initially decided to take this believer under his wing. Even if not cultivated as a resource, it was acceptable. Even if his devotion paled in comparison to the other two, it mattered little, for geniuses invariably enjoy certain societal privileges.
Or perhaps, it was inherently challenging to deceive a high-IQ character with his own game narrative theory.
After uttering, “For instance, the creator of all,” Lin Qingliu, resembling a genuine priest, extended a hand brimming with affection towards Ji Yongxing’s forehead.
Yet, this seemingly benign gesture concealed immense strength.
“Thud~”
With a soft, muffled sound, the bewildered and startled young man toppled backward onto the costly psychological therapy bed.
As was his custom, Lin Qingliu removed the golden USB drive from around his neck and began to “manipulate” the protagonist in a manner befitting a classic antagonist.
【Bestow a blessing】
【Yes】
Gazing at the young man now in a deep sleep, Lin Qingliu murmured softly as he settled back into his chair:
“Those with terminal illnesses can manipulate flesh and blood, and thieves from the outer city can swap spaces. I wonder what intriguing experiences await you in your dreams.”

Ji Yongxing awoke in an enchanting land, devoid of Hope City and extraordinary beasts, seemingly devoid of danger.
If forced to encapsulate it in a single word, Ji Yongxing recalled a term he had learned but seldom used:
Wilderness.
Indeed, this was a wilderness.
Though his origins and past were somewhat hazy, faint memories, like a wispy mist, and an ingrained scientific mindset spurred Ji Yongxing to explore within his capabilities.
The silver lining was his newfound ability to control his body, allowing him to float mid-air. This seemed an extraordinary phenomenon, yet Ji Yongxing instinctively dismissed it.
As he broadened his exploration, he soon encountered beings—or rather, giants.
A clan of giants inhabited the barren land; their forms reminiscent of solid mountains. They consumed every forest in sight and drained every stream they crossed, perpetually in search of sustenance.
Were it not for his ability to adjust his altitude at will, Ji Yongxing might have mistaken these giants for actual mountains. Only after prolonged observation did he discern the peculiarity.
The giants possessed insatiable appetites. Many were perpetually hungry. One day, a giant, in a fit of rage, pointed skyward and declared:
“It’s all the sun’s fault! Its recent intensity has withered countless trees and dried up the streams. If this persists, we’ll surely starve; we must banish the sun!”
At this proclamation, the other giants gazed skyward, promptly shielding their eyes with their lengthy, robust arms to fend off the sun’s glare.
Immediately, a chorus of agreement ensued.
Yet, dissenters emerged. Another giant rose and countered:
“You’re mistaken. Without the sun, trees wouldn’t flourish, and in time, we’d face starvation.”
His words were also agreed upon by some, and in the vast wilderness, a group of giants began a grand debate.
The noisy arguments rose and fell, and a giant, taller and sturdier than the others, stood up. He appeared strong and mighty as he addressed the other giants:
"Brothers and sisters, please stop arguing and listen to my thoughts."
This giant clearly held significant influence in the tribe. Upon hearing his words, almost all the giants quickly ceased their quarrels and turned to look at this relatively young member of their clan.
"We need the sun to help us grow forests, but we don’t always need the sun.
"We hope it would appear when needed and vanish when the time comes.
"That being said…"
The giant pointed to the blazing sun in the sky, bringing his hands together as if in prayer, and said:
"Why don’t we chase the sun and capture it?
"When the time comes, we can find a large enough hole to put the sun in, taking it out whenever we need it."
After the giant finished speaking, the other tribe members fell into deep thought.
After a moment, the first giant who had complained voiced his agreement:
"What the chief says makes sense!"
"Yes, yes!"
As support for the idea grew, the original argument slowly faded into nothing, but another question arose before everyone—
Who would chase the sun?
"I nominate the chief; he is the one everyone trusts!"
One giant said first, and the others echoed in agreement. This somewhat perfunctory voting quickly concluded, and the giant tribe’s chief was elected as the Sun Chaser by a landslide.
He gathered the food his tribe had prepared for him, tied a rope around his waist to catch the sun, and drank from a small river, finally preparing to set off amidst the giants’ expectations.
In comparison to the giants, Ji Yongxing, floating in the sky, looked like a tiny flying insect. He watched everything unfold but felt something was off.
"What exactly is wrong?"
While Ji Yongxing pondered, the chief of the giant tribe had already begun his journey to chase the sun. His feet hit the ground with all his strength, leaving deep footprints like valleys and ditches.
He kept accelerating, running toward the blazing sun in the sky, while the sun continued to move westward, seeming to always stay several steps ahead of the giant.
Ji Yongxing finally figured out what the problem was; he propelled his body to catch up with the giant running on the ground and shouted in his ear:
"No, no! You’re going the wrong way!"
His voice clearly reached the giant’s ears. The giant turned his massive head slightly, his eyes almost crossing as he spotted the tiny figure in the sky.
"You say I’m going the wrong way? Where did I go wrong?"
The giant’s tone seemed both stubborn and curious, like a child earnestly seeking the truth.
"Of course, your direction is wrong!"
Hearing the giant’s inquiry, Ji Yongxing confidently crossed his arms in the air and said:
"Think about it; doesn’t the sun rise in the east every day and set in the west?"
The giant nodded.
"Then that’s it."
Ji Yongxing said confidently:
"You don’t need to chase after it; you should run in the opposite direction, blocking its path on its required route, catching it off guard and arresting the sun right then and there!"
The giant’s mind clearly entered an overload mode, and after a moment, he excitedly exclaimed:
"Genius!"
