Chapter 135: Final Interpretation Rights Belong to the Author

Silence.

An eerie silence lingered in the narrow Clinic for a long time.

Wang Xiao felt that Lin Qingliu seemed to have pointed him toward a direction for his future that he had never considered before.

It was a path that, although rugged and challenging, was filled with hope.

If he embraced this idea and put it into practice, then saving humanity and avenging his own injustices would be completely separate.

But… wasn’t it a bit premature to think about reaching such a position now?

After a long contemplation, Wang Xiao felt as if he had removed a set of invisible shackles.

A heartfelt, relieved smile appeared on his sharp-featured, handsome face.

“Thank you, Doctor, for clarifying my thoughts. I think I know what to do now.”

“Let’s hear it.”

Lin Qingliu responded with curiosity, while Wang Xiao wore a mysterious smile that would have been impossible to imagine before:

“Save everyone in the broad sense, but settle the scores with certain specific individuals.”

Lin Qingliu nodded in satisfaction:

“Very good summary. I heard you will be heading outside the city wall after some more training. It’s dangerous and chaotic out there.”

“I know.”

“What I want to tell you is…”

Lin Qingliu also showed a meaningful smile:

“Chaos is a ladder.”

Wang Xiao looked at Lin Qingliu before him and felt that the divine figure he first encountered was becoming increasingly distant.

But it didn’t seem like a bad thing; at least Lin Qingliu understood him instead of being stuck in old ways.

But thinking about being stuck in old ways…

Wang Xiao’s expression suddenly twisted slightly. He turned to Lin Qingliu and asked,

“By the way, didn’t you just… go a bit too far?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean your comments about the power of speech felt a bit too blunt; it almost seemed disrespectful to the great divine being…”

Wang Xiao carefully chose his words.

“Haha, that shows how small your perspective is.”

With the main psychological guidance completed, Lin Qingliu relaxed and leaned back.

“Divine beings are not so fragile.”

Wang Xiao’s face showed a look of shock: Wasn’t this even more disrespectful!

“Do you remember the prayer you made during our second meeting, after your weight loss?”

Lin Qingliu posed the question.

Wang Xiao nodded; although he had only ever offered one genuine prayer, that prayer had been etched into his memory, vivid and clear with just a moment of recollection.

“Do you remember what I said back then?”

Without waiting for Wang Xiao to respond, Lin Qingliu answered his own question:

“Divine beings do not manifest in this world to be praised; they come to save it once more.

“As long as your actions align with your conscience, there is no such thing as overstepping.

“In other words, do you truly believe a divine being would care about your minor transgressions?

“No, they would not. In their eyes, there is only this world, drowning in turmoil.

“As for my remarks on the ‘power of speech,’ they are objective truths, inherent laws of human society, and certainly not overstepping.

“They are not a guiding lantern in the fog, requiring blind obedience from humans; leading everything into the unknown and mysterious is not their desire.”

“Really, truly?”

Wang Xiao felt beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

Unlike the goal Lin Qingliu had described earlier, where climbing higher might reveal a path to the mountain’s peak, the divine being was akin to the stars at the edge of the sky.

Even the most skilled climber could never ascend to the clouds to touch the stars.

“Of course it’s true. The divine being spoke to you directly, and yet you still doubt it?”

Lin Qingliu sighed inwardly and continued,

“Of course it’s true. I am one of the earliest existing followers of the divine being, one of their representatives on this earth. You can trust me completely.”

At that moment, Wang Xiao was plunged into deep astonishment.

For the first time, he gained a clearer understanding of the divine being who had bestowed blessings upon him.

They did not demand devotion, faith, or even followers.

The prayers they accepted felt more like progress reports from those they had blessed, rather than rigid requirements.

Their actions served a singular purpose: to save humanity.

As for the rest, they paid no heed.

Wang Xiao began to speculate about the divine being using his own reasoning.

Initially, he felt it was disrespectful, but soon he let it go.

As Lin Qingliu had said, as long as his heart was clear, that was enough.

Observing the shifting expressions on the face of his number one follower, which eventually settled into genuine ease, Lin Qingliu knew that Wang Xiao had begun to unravel the knots in his heart.

He gently clapped his hands:

“If there’s nothing else, let the next person in. Your teammates seem to have been waiting for quite some time.”

—

Watching Shi Jin being escorted away by a team of skilled professionals from the black market, Nia shook her head in the shadows.

She was indeed too young and utterly naive.

Though she hadn’t been much different at that age, since the assessment standards had already been set, there was nothing more to say.

In any case, she wouldn’t see the girl again.

Nia sighed silently as she gazed toward the stairway, completely unaware of the pair of emerald-green eyes behind her.

Fulan’s gaze shifted back and forth between Shi Jin and Nia. After a moment’s thought, she decided to follow Shi Jin.

That situation was more pressing, after all, because that man—the one who could trap people with a translucent orb—had just mentioned the word “follower.”

After Zhuang Mian’s friendly reminder, Luke realized that conducting an interrogation here was highly inexperienced.

Professional matters should be left to professionals. After completing the crucial capture, Luke voluntarily transferred command to Zhuang Mian.

Zhuang Mian glanced at the man who wanted to investigate the “follower,” planning to extract some information from him later.

After spending a few days together, Zhuang Mian felt she had a fairly good grasp of the little chubby guy’s character.

Though he was exceptionally skilled in solo combat and excelled in captures and operations, he was a blank slate when it came to the areas where the Ministry of Internal Affairs, particularly the Clean-up Team, excelled.

Zhuang Mian was confident she could gather some information she shouldn’t know without drawing his attention.

Fulan carefully hopped down the stairs; she reached a car parked near the Chemical Factory and, with feline agility, slipped inside through a narrow window.

The action team’s vehicle was filled with unused equipment. Fulan spotted a set of special electromagnetic shackles and decided to bite down on them.

A minute later, the vehicle’s door opened, and Shi Jin was fitted with a more advanced set of electromagnetic shackles, securely fastened to the metal plate inside the car.
