Chapter 133: She is the Believer!

As dusk settled, Shi Jin left her home with the hastily processed fake gold.

Selling this item was already challenging, and now that it was proven counterfeit, the task became even more daunting.

Her eyelids twitched incessantly along the way, as if forewarning of impending danger.

Yet, Shi Jin paid it no mind; this venture was never meant to be safe or secure. If things turned dire, she still had her small hammer to rely on.

She hoped that some wild information coins would still be waiting for her tonight.

Taking a deep breath, Shi Jin straightened her posture slightly, projecting an air of confidence.

Upon entering the black market, she began to selectively trade her goods.

When she spotted a stall eager to buy and noted the dim lighting, she edged closer, using established signals to negotiate her desired trades.

Of course, not everyone shared Nia’s discernment; many still found her items intriguingly rare and lacked the means to verify their authenticity.

After selling three batches of goods on the first floor, Shi Jin turned to ascend to the second floor.

Behind her, two middle-aged men at their stalls exchanged glances, their eyes reflecting mutual wariness.

The big fish was on the hook!

As per the revised plan by Luke and Zhuang Mian, if Shi Jin headed upstairs, they would hold off on capturing her, as success was more assured on the second or third floors.

Now, everything was progressing as they had hoped.

No one anticipated the plan would falter.

After all, stationed on the third floor was none other than Holy Shield himself.

Though Luke still had a way to go to match his father, he had passed the Second Level superpower assessment.

He often wondered why, despite only being at the Second Level, his abilities could encompass all of Hope City.

But Nia had provided a clear explanation.

The ability enhancement experiment was designed to produce such effects.

Recalling that his father had undergone the same procedure, Luke’s doubts gradually dissipated.

Outside the second-floor window, Fulan clawed at the windowsill, her gaze fixed on Shi Jin as she ascended from below.

At that moment, Fulan felt a pang of disappointment.

This candidate had clearly exposed herself.

She wasn’t as fitting for the master’s blessing as Fulan had hoped.

Nevertheless, as someone noted in her mental ledger, Fulan resolved to see it through, at least until the thief Shi Jin was caught.

Sure enough, Shi Jin on the second floor once again made her move, setting off the alarm once more.

Then, seemingly unsatisfied, the girl turned and swaggered toward the third floor, heading straight for the trap core where Luke awaited.

Fulan slapped her own face with a paw.

This is bad!

“Tap, tap, tap.”

A flurry of hurried yet sparse footsteps echoed from downstairs. With a guilty conscience, Shi Jin instinctively turned her head, only to see a dozen people gathering behind her.

For a brief moment, panic flashed through her mind, but then she felt that this matter probably had nothing to do with her.

It was the black market, after all; anything could happen.

Turning the corner of the stairs, when Shi Jin saw the man blocking the stairway ahead, her heart sank.

A pale purple translucent shield instantly enveloped her, and as an ordinary person whose skill points were all invested in lock-picking and Mechanical Maintenance, Shi Jin had no way to deal with such superpowers.

If she had known she was facing a member of the first team, her despair would have been even more evident.

“Surrender now, ‘Master Hand’!”

Luke, still carrying habits from his carefree past, shouted loudly and trapped Shi Jin in place in front of the onlookers.

The commotion immediately attracted many curious people, and the stairway quickly filled with those wanting to watch the excitement.

“Bang! Bang! Bang!”

The gun’s muzzle flashed with flames, and debris from the old factory floor fell down.

The crowd gasped, and many sharp-eared individuals recognized the model of the weapon, realizing they had encountered a tough opponent and hurriedly returned to their spots as if nothing had happened.

Members of the first team charged up to the third floor, driving away the black market merchant and clearing a small area for their upcoming plans.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Fulan slipped into the shadows of the third floor, quietly observing everything from a corner.

Many people had been driven away, but Fulan noticed a woman in the corner who was unfazed.

Although she was at the edge of the area being cleared, her overly calm demeanor caught Fulan’s attention.

How could a black market merchant not fear official personnel?

One of her ears twitched as she chose a hidden position to keep an eye on Shi Jin and the red-haired woman.

Below, Zhuang Mian quickly finished encircling, moving to Luke’s side.

“Did we really just succeed this easily?”

Zhuang Mian felt this was somewhat too simple; it was unexpected yet made sense.

After all, she reminded herself, he was just a small thief who hadn’t been caught before simply due to lack of attention.

Zhuang Mian understood the behavior of the Public Security Team in the outer city well; being able to avoid a major incident was already a blessing.

With her hands tied behind her back, Shi Jin was escorted to the third floor by two individuals.

At this moment, the girl had already resigned herself. Seeing that the Great Memory Restoration Technique was imminent, she pleaded sorrowfully, “I admit I am ‘Master Hand’; you can ask me anything, and I will tell you everything.”

Zhuang Mian remained silent; years of experience taught her that most people would not divulge information without first experiencing some hardship.

Luke nodded in satisfaction. He was not as skilled in this area as Zhuang Mian, but hearing Shi Jin’s breakdown felt like a personal victory to him.

Seeing that all unrelated personnel had been cleared away, Zhuang Mian—now privy to matters related to the case—no longer held back and directly asked the most pressing question in a threatening manner:

“Since you’re afraid of hardship, why not tell me the intel about your organization?

“Don’t think I don’t know, you ‘Believer’!”

The corner of the third floor fell into a long-anticipated silence.

Zhuang Mian: Ah? She’s a Believer?

Fulan: Ah? Who is the Believer?

Shi Jin: Ah? What is a Believer?

—

“Hello, Dr. Lin~ I am Fresnel from the Twenty-Five Superhero Team. These three are my teammates; um, please don’t mind us; we usually call each other by our code names.”

“It’s fine.”

“Good, then let me introduce you: this is Puppet Master, this is Beacon, and this is Undead.”

Lin Qingliu wore his signature smile, shaking hands with Fresnel and the others in turn.

Seeing Wang Xiao’s expression, which seemed to be tense yet somewhat relaxed, Lin Qingliu responded with a calm gaze.

Still too young; this is going to give it away.
