Volume 1 + Prologue: The Unlucky Guy Who Got Lucky

The carefully prepared blue rose, along with the long-cherished feelings, was ruthlessly thrown onto the red carpet of the banquet.

The boy was shattered by the cold reality, his love-struck fantasies crumbling like a mirage, all his dreams vanishing like flowers in a mirror or the moon reflected in water.

In the opulent hall, the golden-haired girl, dressed in her finest, resembled a dazzling, noble white swan.

In stark contrast stood the boy in his worn-out suit, plain-looking and now utterly dejected.

The girl’s breathtakingly beautiful face showed no emotion.

Her sapphire-like eyes, as deep and enigmatic as the ocean, rested on the boy, who was still frozen in his confession posture, his expression and movements stiffening.

“Winnie, your confession only makes your love seem cheap and frivolous. It’s an insult to both the person you’re confessing to and yourself. Please learn to respect your own love, or rather, learn how to love someone first,” the Noble Princess said coldly.

With that, she took the silver-haired girl, who had been drenched in red wine by him, and left.

As they walked away, the silver-haired girl, who had appeared polite and proper, flashed a mischievous and gleeful smile at him, a smile only he could see.

The boy named Winnie stared blankly as the princess he had adored for over a decade walked away without a hint of hesitation.

The courage he had mustered over the years was completely drained the moment his confession was rejected.

A dark haze crept into his vision, slowly consuming his consciousness.

The burning pain in his chest made him stagger back a couple of steps.

Something blurred his vision, he couldn’t see clearly anymore, nor could he hear.

The mocking and jeering from the surrounding nobles faded into a distant hum.

“Tsk tsk, did this good-for-nothing really just confess to Princess Mirexia? Haha, does he not know his place?”

“Toads are common, but is the toad’s delusion eating swan meat? That’s rare. Let’s enjoy the show while we can.”

“Strange, did someone hire a circus for tonight’s banquet? Why is the clown here without a performance?”

“If it weren’t for the king’s mercy, granting his family a hollow title out of respect for the goddess, this scoundrel would be no better than a beggar on the streets.”

“He’s so poor he can barely keep up appearances, yet he still dares to aim so high? Haha, instead of dreaming big, he should focus on maintaining what little dignity he has left.”

“Tsk, this fake descendant of the goddess dares to confess to the princess? He should take a good look at himself in the mirror.”

The banquet hall was filled with mocking laughter.

Winnie’s mind went blank; he couldn’t hear anything anymore.

Like a lifeless puppet, he felt as though his entire life had become a joke.

Someone deliberately stuck out a foot and tripped him.

The boy stumbled and fell flat on his face in front of everyone.

“Hahahaha…!”

No one reached out to help the disheveled him up, nor did anyone bother to find out who had tripped him.

The others simply enjoyed the spectacle, as if it were an entertaining sideshow.

The piercing laughter felt like icy waves, engulfing Winnie.

The bustling crowd trampled over the blue rose that had held the boy’s tender feelings.

Whether it was due to the overwhelming shock or his head hitting the ground, Winnie’s consciousness faded, and he passed out in front of everyone.

As he lost consciousness, a flood of strange yet familiar memories rushed into his mind.

“Carillian Citrus”? A yuri game? A male cannon fodder villain? Stabbed through the heart? Winnie?…

What… what is all this??

Ahhh!…

When he woke up again, Winnie was drenched in cold sweat, gasping for breath.

The soft glow from the crystal chandelier above felt painfully bright.

“Me? Winnie?…” Through the floor-length mirror, the boy stared at his reflection, a pale, malnourished teenager with freckles and moon blue hair.

His appearance matched the character art from his memories.

“Winnie Varelis, Mirexia Pavone??” The boy muttered to himself as he lay on the bed, his chaotic thoughts gradually clearing.

The familiar names instantly clicked in his mind.

If he remembered correctly, he had been hit by a truck and struck by luck—he had transmigrated.

Or rather, he had awakened memories of his past life.

And now, he found himself in the world of a game he had played in his previous life, a yuri game called “Carillian Citrus.”

The good news was that although the character he had transmigrated into wasn’t the protagonist, he was an important plot-driving character in the game.

Alright, so I guess it’s the kind of plot where you transmigrate into a supporting character and steal the protagonist’s love interest, right?

Unfortunately, no.

He transmigrated into the most hated, universally despised, irredeemable villainous cannon fodder character who’s destined to die sooner or later.

His current name is Winnie Varelis.

As far as he knows, this character in the game “Carillian Citrus” plays multiple roles simultaneously: the sneering villain, the emotional catalyst between the female leads, the victim of face-slapping moments, the plot pusher, and the protagonist’s experience pack.

It’s safe to say that without Winnie, the game’s plot wouldn’t move forward.

Yep, a classic villainous cannon fodder script.

Later on, he gets involved in dark magic, gradually loses his sanity, and starts harassing the game’s destined heroines, who take turns beating him up like a soccer ball.

The list of people who beat him up includes, but is not limited to, a reincarnated phoenix queen, a genius dragon princess, the golden elf queen, a demon fox empress, and his almost-defunct fiancée, the imperial princess.

Each of these women is a heavyweight in their own right, and yet they form such an all-star lineup just to beat up one magic-less villainous cannon fodder who relies on an unorthodox path to gain strength.

It makes you wonder how much the game actually values him!

In the original story, Winnie’s loss was well-deserved, and his luck was just terrible.

If he were just a regular villainous cannon fodder, he might have had a chance in other games, but “Carillian Citrus” is a pure yuri game.

In this kind of game, a guy trying to woo girls?

Wrong gender, no chance!

Since the game’s inception, it was predetermined that Winnie’s role was destined to be continuously slapped by the female leads, and in the end, he would receive his cold lunch box in a scene of universal joy and prosperity.

And that’s exactly what happened.

He couldn’t save anyone, not even his long-time unrequited love, Princess Mirexia.

He still remembers that CG where, as the big bad villain, Winnie kneels on the ground with a sword through his chest, vomiting blood, watching as the female lead and Mirexia’s feelings deepen.

The two stunningly beautiful girls embrace and kiss right in front of him as he’s dying.

They even start playing out their dominant-submissive roles right in front of him.

Who’s the real villain here?!

So, I’m just a part of your play, huh?!

But even so, it’s not exactly like the female lead stole Mirexia from Winnie.

The premise of stealing requires mutual feelings between two people.

As Mirexia just said, she never had those kinds of feelings for Winnie, her childhood friend.

It was always Winnie’s one-sided affection, so how could it be considered stealing?

In essence, Winnie was just a lovestruck fool who couldn’t even qualify as being “stolen” from.

Recalling everything the original Winnie did, he completely understands why Mirexia threw his flowers at the banquet earlier without any regard for his feelings.

The original Winnie was extremely possessive and acted in extreme ways.

He unilaterally considered Mirexia his property, and any interaction she had with other men would provoke his hostility, often in very clumsy ways.

As a noble, it was absurd for him to publicly insult other nobles without any reason and openly display his possessiveness over Princess Mirexia.

Adding to that, Winnie’s family had long fallen from grace, with him being the only remaining member, living in poverty.

The person he loved was Princess Mirexia, hailed as “the most dazzling jewel on the crown of Camella.”

Mirexia is the only child of the King of Camella and the first in line to the throne.

Forget about his character flaws, just the countless suitors vying for Mirexia’s attention in and outside the capital were enough to make Winnie’s life miserable.

Because of Winnie’s extreme and twisted personality, he repeatedly caused significant trouble for Mirexia.

Imagine the scene: as the royal heir, Princess Mirexia is hosting a tea party to build relationships with other noble heirs, and suddenly her so-called childhood friend bursts in, claiming she belongs only to him and angrily cursing the noble heirs she’s trying to win over.

Just thinking about it is enough to make you cringe and your blood pressure rise.

Winnie also kept giving Mirexia strange gifts based solely on his own preferences, which perfectly illustrates Mirexia’s point, “Someone who is too self-centered can’t see others,” and “You should learn how to love someone first.”

Seriously, Mirexia’s patience is truly remarkable.

Even though her goodwill towards Winnie was in the negatives, she still held onto a shred of sentiment for their childhood friendship.

If you put yourself in her shoes, if Winnie had to deal with someone like himself, he probably would have cut ties long ago.

In the original story, Mirexia still cherished some of their childhood bond.

While dealing with Winnie’s constant annoyances, she also had to clean up the messes he left behind.

But everything Winnie did only served to erode that remaining goodwill.

The story reaches a turning point when Winnie was publicly rejected after confessing his feelings at a banquet.

Everyone looked at him like he’s a clown.

From that moment on, this extreme and deeply unloved character collapses, completely succumbs to darkness, and spirals down a path of no return, ultimately being stabbed through the heart and beheaded by the female lead.

Winnie wipes the cold sweat from his forehead and touches his neck, feeling a chill.

This is like stepping on the gas pedal and speeding straight down the road to destruction.

Is it too late to hit the brakes now?

After some thought, there seems to be a bit of nuance in this part of the story.

Back when he was playing as the protagonist, he didn’t think much of it.

But now, being in Winnie’s shoes and having access to his memories, the more he reflects on certain plot points, the more something feels off.

Upon closer recollection, before Winnie was publicly rejected by Mirexia, this notorious villain hadn’t actually done anything particularly heinous.

Sure, you could say he was cringey and lacked self-awareness, constantly offending his peers, but to say he committed unforgivable atrocities would be a stretch.

He simply didn’t have the capability to do so.

Winnie was indeed not a good person, but to call him a true villain feels a bit exaggerated.

The only things worth criticizing were his frequent outbursts and his inappropriate, relentless pursuit of Mirexia.

He was far from being a truly evil figure.

Yet, for some reason, in the original story, Winnie’s infamy far outweighed the actual harm he caused.

Labels like greedy, lustful, cowardly, despicable, shameless, and fraudulent were all slapped onto him.

The entire kingdom, from top to bottom, despised him, and his notoriety even spread to other nations.

But if you were to ask what exactly he did to deserve such a reputation, it would be hard to pinpoint anything truly unforgivable.

This is somewhat absurd, making one suspect that the game’s writers simply wanted to create a punching bag for the protagonist to show off.

They painted him in the worst light possible, and what he actually did didn’t matter.

Everyone just needed to know he was an irredeemable villain.

After all, players were here to see the cute, soft girls get intimate and cozy.

A disgusting villain like Winnie?

The audience would just feel sick looking at him, and no one would bother digging into his past.

But when you take a closer look, before he went down the unorthodox path, did this universally despised villain really do anything that matched his infamous reputation?

In the original plot, part of Winnie’s descent into darkness was due to his twisted mentality, shaped by a childhood devoid of love.

The other part was the rumors and the environment surrounding him.

Nobles were ashamed to associate with him, talented mages from common backgrounds looked down on him for his lack of magical ability, and even ordinary citizens avoided him because of his bad reputation.

Everyone excluded him, looked down on him, and those with even a bit of status would rather spit in his face before walking away, as if not doing so would make them less refined.

As the saying goes, fortunate people are healed by their childhood, while unfortunate people spend their lives trying to heal from it. Winnie was the latter.

Winnie lost both parents at a young age, endured discrimination in the capital, and had no family or friends.

He didn’t even have anyone to talk to on a daily basis.

Loneliness and exclusion are the perfect breeding grounds for extreme mentalities.

The only person who still reached out to him and offered help was his childhood friend, Princess Mirexia.

However, due to Queen Camella’s difficult childbirth and King Camella’s decision not to remarry, Mirexia, as the kingdom’s only child and heir, is destined to become the future Queen of Camella.

Consequently, her daily responsibilities are extremely demanding, making her the hardest worker in Terraria.

At the palace, she assists her father with governmental affairs while also balancing physical training and magical studies.

At academy, she shoulders the duties of the student council president while keeping up with her academic workload.

It’s easy to imagine how frustrating it would be for someone under such immense pressure, working overtime all year round, and swamped with tasks to deal with a friend who only knows how to make unreasonable demands.

In the original story, after being rejected by Mirexia, Winnie felt that she had also abandoned him.

In despair, he chose to take extreme measures, straying down an Unorthodox path, vowing to kill all those who had bullied and scorned him without reason.

He was childish, but this was the only way he could think of to fight against his fate.

His parents passed away when he was very young, and no one taught him how to behave or guided him toward maturity.

All he knew was that everyone in the world despised him, rejected him, and looked at him with even more disdain than they would a stray dog, wishing he would just die.

For him, what difference would it make if such a world were destroyed?

Moreover, he naively believed that Mirexia left him because he wasn’t strong enough.

If he were strong enough, she would surely come back to him.

After taking a shortcut through dark magic, he spiraled out of control.

A psychologically twisted, immature child wielding terrifying power he was never meant to possess, what this implied was self-evident.

The baseless rumors that had circulated about him were, in a way, validated by his own actions after the fact.

Since no one would listen to his explanations, he decided to give them what they wanted, making all the evil deeds they accused him of come true.

To punish demons, one must first become a demon.

He could kill those who spread the rumors, but he could never kill the rumors themselves.

In the end, he too fell into an abyss of ruin.

Looking back at Winnie’s memories and combining them with the plot he knew, he realized that Winnie wasn’t inherently evil, at least not in the beginning.

He was nothing like the infamous, wicked villain portrayed in the rumors.

The spread of rumors didn’t happen overnight.

Like boiling a frog in warm water, it was a gradual process fueled by one misunderstanding after another, along with mysterious eyewitnesses who exaggerated the stories.

Over time, without anyone noticing, Winnie’s reputation and image among the kingdom’s nobility were utterly ruined, and this negativity trickled down layer by layer.

When the rumors first began to spread, he tried to salvage his reputation, but he found that no matter what he did, it was futile.

In fact, his notoriety only led to more misunderstandings.

When someone is completely labeled as a villain, everything they do is tainted by that preconceived notion, distorting its true nature.

Winnie’s descent into darkness wasn’t instantaneous either.

He struggled and fought against it, but in the end, overwhelmed by the chilling rumors, he succumbed to his downfall.

Mirexia’s rejection was merely the final straw that broke the camel’s back.

Additionally, there was another event that profoundly impacted the original Winnie.

Although his family had fallen from grace, they were descendants of the “Goddess of Graceful Radiance,” the founder of the Church of Radiance, and belonged to the prestigious Saintess family, the Varelis lineage, which carried the bloodline of the “Blessed Angels.”

Throughout history, the heads of the Varelis family had always been Saintesses, leading the entire Church of Radiance.

However, during Winnie’s grandfather’s generation, the Varelis family became a “dead lineage,” no longer producing Saintesses, and thus lost their voice within the church.

Later, due to some unspecified mistake, the entire family was expelled from the Church of Radiance.

The Goddess had founded the church, yet the church expelled her descendants over something unclear and unjust.

Such an absurd event had actually occurred.

Logically, even if they had become a dead lineage and been expelled from the church, the Varelis family, with the relics and treasures left by generations of Saintesses, shouldn’t have fallen to the state they were in today.

But on the night Winnie’s parents passed away, people from the Church of Radiance came to his home.

He remembered that day vividly, dark clouds rolled across the sky, and a heavy rain poured down.

The visitors were led by a cardinal from the Church of Radiance’s central council, followed by a fully armed contingent of church knights.

Their dark figures filled the courtyard of the Varelis estate, crowding it to the brim.

Were they there to pay their respects? No.

These unwelcome guests had come to kick the family while they were down.

Logically, after this, the Varelis family and the Church of Radiance should have severed all ties, cutting off any connection.

Yet, after Winnie’s parents died, the church arrived under the pretext of “illegally occupying church property” to reclaim the relics and treasures left by the Goddess of Graceful Radiance and the generations of Saintesses.

They claimed that those items rightfully belonged to the church, not the Varelis family.

Recalling this deeply etched memory, the immersive feeling made Winnie’s expression turn somber.

Dim candles illuminated the peeling, yellowish walls.

The young Winnie stood helplessly in front of his parents’ lifeless bodies, overwhelmed by despair that swallowed his small frame like a tidal wave, stealing his soul.

At that time, he was heartbroken and filled with uncertainty about the future.

Having lost his two closest relatives at such a young age, how could he possibly navigate this path filled with loneliness and scorn to reach its end?

Outside, the heavy, orderly footsteps of the church knights echoed.

In a daze, he walked to the door and pushed it open, only to find a group of fully armored knights standing outside.

A tall man in a red robe, holding a jeweled scepter and wearing an expensive crystal holy cross, loomed over him, the height difference creating an overwhelming sense of oppression.

A flash of lightning tore through the dark sky, casting the shadows of the hypocritical red-robed man and the knights onto the ragged young boy, making them appear like monstrous demons.

“Search. Leave no corner untouched,” the cardinal coldly ordered his knights without any explanation, his voice decisive and devoid of warmth.

Then, the boy watched helplessly as these knights, who had sworn to fight for the Goddess and the people, stormed into his home, ransacking it and taking away all the treasures left by generations of Saintesses.

Some knights even attempted to forcibly search his parents’ bodies, not long after they had passed.

“Stop!” the young Winnie cried, tears streaming down his face as he lunged at one of the knights to stop them.

But the knight shoved him away without hesitation, sending him crashing into the wall.

The pain left him curled up on the floor, unable to get up, his back bruised and aching.

“You… you’re nothing but opportunistic thieves!” he shouted.

“Thieves? Little thief, you should be grateful for the church’s mercy,” the cardinal sneered, his lips curling into a cold smile.

“Your family has been illegally occupying church property for three generations. Out of respect for the Goddess and the Saintesses, we are only reclaiming what is ours and not demanding additional compensation. That is the greatest mercy we can offer.”

That night, Winnie watched as the church turned his home upside down, even disrespecting his parents’ bodies, before leaving with all the Varelis family’s heirlooms and treasures, taking everything of value.

The house was left in shambles.

The boy lay on the floor, his eyes hollow, his face soaked with tears. Inside the house lay his parents, who could no longer protect him or hold the family together…

After that, Winnie’s reputation only worsened.

Rumors even spread in the capital that he was a fraud, a fake descendant of the Goddess.

For a moment, Winnie couldn’t help but feel pity for the original owner of this body, or perhaps, for his former self.

He couldn’t help but wonder: were these malicious rumors about Winnie simply a product of the story’s needs? Or was there something more to them?

But who would go to such lengths and expend so much effort to spread rumors about a destitute noble family with nothing left to their name?

Was it the church?

But Winnie was already so miserable, and they had taken all the valuable heirlooms.

Why would they still target him?

It seems that someone deliberately spread the rumors so widely, causing such a severe impact, which proves that the instigator must be of extraordinary status and position.

Why can’t someone in such a high position tolerate a small ant like Winnie?

The cost paid and the benefits gained are completely disproportionate, aren’t they?

He couldn’t understand what good it would do to tarnish the reputation of a poor wretch who had lost both parents and had no money or influence.

Is it really necessary to drive him to his death?

“Master Winnie? Are you awake?” The servant’s voice pulled Winnie’s thoughts back to reality.

Winnie gathered his thoughts and looked at the servant who appeared at the door of the room.

“Are you alright?”

“…Was it you who carried me in here?”

“…Yes, it was me.” The servant hesitated before answering.

After all, Winnie’s notorious reputation was well-known in the royal capital.

Other nobles weren’t afraid of this mad dog-like fallen noble, but he was just a lowly servant.

This man placed immense value on his dignity, and being publicly rejected during his confession left him humiliated and mocked.

He couldn’t vent his anger on any of the nobles at the banquet, but he might very well take it out on an unrelated servant.

‘I shouldn’t have gotten involved in this mess…’

The servant regretted his decision, but who would have thought that this notorious young master would just take a deep breath, his expression no longer as hysterical as before.

He looked calm, his eyes filled with worry.

“Thank you,” Winnie said, brushing past the servant and walking out of the room with heavy steps.

“…Huh, huh??” The servant, who had just been thanked by Winnie, was clearly taken aback.

By the time he came to his senses, Winnie had already left the room.

“Master Winnie? That’s not the way to the main hall,” the servant kindly reminded him.

“I know,” Winnie shook his head.

Just kidding, after that scene earlier, he had lost all face and dignity.

Since there was no circus at the banquet, what was the point of staying?

“I’m not feeling well, I’ll take my leave now,” Winnie said without further explanation, heading towards the back door.

Pushing the door open, the cold wind hit Winnie’s face, clearing his foggy mind a bit.

The street before him was both familiar and unfamiliar.

Although his thoughts were somewhat sorted out, the emotional complexity hadn’t fully sunk in yet.

Damn, who would have thought that one day he would actually transmigrate?

Sent to the world of a yuri game as a cannon fodder villain.

Seriously, why did it have to be a world based on a yuri game?

He might have been fine with any ordinary world, but in a yuri game world, men have no rights, alright?!

All the important female characters would inevitably end up bending, and even if they didn’t at first, they would have some tendency to do so.

Winnie, who had always been straightforward, was furious.

What kind of worlds do other people transmigrate to?

They become the male protagonists in harem stories!

At the very least, they could become a side male character and steal the female leads from the protagonist.

What did he transmigrate into?

Not only a notorious cannon fodder, but also in a yuri game world.

Just the gender was wrong, destined to leave him not even a sip of soup.

No, soup is too luxurious, when you don’t even have your life, what’s the point of wanting soup?

Female villains at least have the chance to be flirted with by the female lead, and after being redeemed, they can be taken into the female lead’s harem.

Male villains only have the fate of being annihilated by the female lead.

It really makes one reflect that sometimes, being born is also a skill.

Better think about how to survive…

According to the usual pattern of such transmigration plots, even if one is notorious, as long as the villain character hits the brakes in time and reforms, then there’s a chance for redemption.

He could completely live as an NPC unrelated to the plot… right?

The memories of the banquet flooded back, accompanied by the icy coldness in Winnie’s limbs and the stiffness in his expression.

The faint glimmer of hope he had seen earlier was completely extinguished.

At this moment, his death star was shining brightly.

He remembered.

The attendees of this banquet were not just the princess and the nobles of the royal capital, but also…

The heroine of Carillian Citrus, the game’s sole designated overpowered character, the possessor of dual magical souls and dual divine blessings, Aesphyra Galactus.

Yes, that silver-haired girl he had just splashed with red wine at the banquet.

Her real name was Aesphyra Carillian, the last descendant of the ancient Terraria imperial family, the Carillians.

Her pure, untainted silver hair and mesmerizing amethyst eyes made her look like an otherworldly fairy, breathtakingly beautiful, her appearance even slightly surpassing those of her stunning harem members.

Winnie remembered that what had initially drawn him to Carillian Citrus was Aesphyra’s character art, which was heart-stoppingly beautiful.

Now, he had the chance to see her in person, but at the same time, a guillotine had appeared above his head, ready to fall at any moment.

Because, at the banquet earlier, he had splashed red wine all over Aesphyra.

In front of so many people, he had completely drenched her dress.

Damn it!

He had already offended the protagonist?!

Winnie recalled that the incident started when Aesphyra claimed she liked Mirexia, even jokingly saying in a somewhat ambiguous tone that she had fallen in love with the beautiful princess at first sight, suggesting that Mirexia shouldn’t be so rigid about gender and give her a chance.

Yes, Aesphyra had said it in a joking tone, and most of the people present didn’t take it seriously, thinking that Miss Aesphyra was just finding a way to compliment Princess Mirexia’s beauty.

After all, such jokes between girls could still be considered within the realm of normalcy.

But Winnie’s original temperament, well, those who knew him knew, whether you meant it or not, if you dared to say such things in front of me, you were challenging me, and could I let you off easy??

And then the incident happened.

In his childish, petty anger, he impulsively splashed red wine on her, not even bothering to pretend it was an accident, even though Mirexia was standing right next to Aesphyra at the time.

And the heroine, true to her role, when Mirexia, visibly angry, demanded that Winnie apologize, who remained silent despite his pale face.

She simply smiled and said she was fine, even taking the initiative to give Mirexia an out by suggesting that it might have been an accidental slip on his part.

Compared to her high emotional intelligence, Winnie was a complete and utter fool, his emotional intelligence so low it was staggering.

He refused to take them out, bluntly stating that he had done it on purpose, that he had a problem with her.

This was incredibly awkward, and it was why Mirexia had been so furious that she publicly humiliated Winnie by throwing his flowers to the ground.

Thinking of this, Winnie couldn’t help but facepalm.

The original Winnie thought he was standing up to Aesphyra, but in reality, he was just making Mirexia lose face.

In contrast, Aesphyra not only demonstrated her magnanimity and tolerance but also earned a wave of goodwill from Mirexia and the other nobles.

She came out on top.

But these weren’t the main points.

Aesphyra was the type of person who cared deeply about things that interested her but wouldn’t even glance at people or matters that didn’t.

You could never tell what thoughts lay behind her angelic, flower-like smile.

For other villains, stopping in time might have worked, because Aesphyra had no interest in men whatsoever.

But the problem was that Aesphyra was the protagonist, and she possessed one of the essential traits of a protagonist: she was a regressor.

A regressor, by definition, had to die once to qualify as one.

So, the question was, who had killed the protagonist in her previous life?

Answer: Winnie, after he had turned to the dark side.

“……..”

Sigh, is there any chance for reconciliation?

Winnie felt the deep malice this world had toward him.

Splashing wine on someone might just be stepping on the gas, but he had already been speeding down the road to destruction!

The room for maneuvering was completely blocked off.

This situation was complicated, to say the least.

But then again, it wasn’t that complicated.

He could just do nothing and go home to wait for death.

…… From this perspective, Aesphyra, who knew the plot, was clearly waiting for him to take the wrong path.

As soon as he gave her a legitimate reason, she would strike.

What made things worse was that Winnie knew very little about the plot of Carillian Citrus.

He had only played through the prologue of the game and seen some discussions and later CGs.

He knew some scattered plot points and the main characters, but beyond that, he knew nothing.

About Aesphyra, the chosen one, the only thing he was certain of was that her sexual orientation was completely bent, she was an undeniable spaghetti in the drain, with clear and straightforward preferences.

She loved soft, and beautiful girls.

Whenever she encountered a girl she found attractive and liked, she would spend a lot of time flirting with them.

Moreover, Aesphyra in the original work was incredibly skilled at flirting, a true little temptress.

As for why Aesphyra was written this way, well, it’s a yuri game, isn’t it?

They’re all like this.

Her exceptional flirting skills, paired with her flawless beauty, made her irresistible to both men and women.

In fact, this was indeed the case. Aesphyra had a strong personal charm.

She was polite to everyone, even those she had no interest in or even disliked.

She could smile naturally at anyone, and her tone of voice always gave people a feeling of warmth, making it impossible for anyone to dislike her.

Except for the original Winnie, of course.

To be fair, the original Winnie was pitiful, but also quite pathetic.

As the sole remaining member of one of humanity’s few Saintness families, the [Blessed Angel] Varelis family, he was not only a dead branch but also had almost no magical talent.

With both parents dead and the family in decline, he had nothing to his name and an extremely neurotic personality.

He truly couldn’t compare to a single strand of hair on the heroine, the last descendant of the ancient imperial family.

Come to think of it, Aesphyra had silver hair, and Mirexia had golden hair.

One gold, one silver, they really did make a good match.

If possible, he didn’t want to become a part of these two calamities’ play in the future.

Staying as far away as possible and wishing them a happy union was the wisest choice.

But now, it wasn’t a question of whether they were a good match or not.

It was a question of whether he would have his head chopped off by Aesphyra in the future.

Taking the unorthodox path was definitely not an option, it was a dead end.

But even if he didn’t take the unorthodox path, he couldn’t guarantee that he wouldn’t be beheaded by Aesphyra for some trumped-up reason like “entering with the left foot” in the future!

“System? Help me out here!” Winnie tried calling out for the golden finger that every transmigrated person was supposed to have.

After a long silence, his last shred of hope was completely dashed.

Damn it!

Isn’t it standard for transmigrators to have a system? Why don’t I even have the slightest trace of one here?!

“Kind sir, have pity on me. I haven’t eaten in three days,” a beggar in tattered clothes passed by, begging Winnie for alms.

Winnie instinctively checked his pockets, only to find a single copper coin.

This fallen noble really had fallen hard, huh??

Winnie tossed the coin to the beggar.

“Thank you for your generosity!” The beggar gratefully took the copper coin and ran off as if afraid Winnie might change his mind, not looking at all like someone who hadn’t eaten in three days.

“Sigh…” Winnie shook his head, muttering to himself. “I pity the beggar, but who will pity me?”

As soon as he finished speaking, Winnie glanced up and vaguely saw a string of golden text appear above the rapidly departing beggar’s head.

“Huh?” Winnie rubbed his eyes in disbelief, making sure he wasn’t seeing things.

“…Virtue +1??” He read the text aloud, utterly confused.

What virtue? And +1? Is this some kind of mechanical prayer bead??

Then, as he stared in disbelief, a brilliant light flashed in his vision, and a massive panel appeared before his eyes.

The large golden-framed panel had only two options. One was “Best Soul Selection Guide,” which required three virtue points.

The other was “Awaken Family Bloodline and Unlock Virtue Tree,” which required 30 virtue points.

On the right side, it displayed the virtue points he currently possessed: 1.

[Note: This work features a controllable gender transformation theme, meaning the protagonist can choose which gender to stay in at will — similar to “Blood Princess” or “Dragon Princess”, not like the “Elf” or “Fox Spirit” type. However, this only applies to the early stages; whether the transformation becomes permanent or not in the mid-to-late stages is another matter. If this bothers you, please feel free to skip this. Thank you~]

[Also, the female form has a very strong presence in this story, and the romantic plotlines mostly revolve around the female form, so there is a significant amount of yuri content.]

[Additionally, unlike the other works where the transformation happens right at the beginning, in this one it occurs a few chapters later.]

[The cover features the female form of the protagonist, Winnie.]
