Chapter 55: A Crushing Victory
Julianna moved swiftly, a testament to her speed.
If it weren’t for the pet collar Vanessa had placed around her neck, she might have already fled.
Knowing that the dark collar meant she couldn’t escape anywhere, and that she could be pulled back with just a word, Julianna had completely abandoned any thoughts of running away.
This demonstrated that this fox was quite pragmatic.
“Pfft~ Miss Julianna, you’re really going all out to survive, aren’t you?” Vanessa, nestled in Julianna’s arms, enjoyed the soft and ample embrace, stroking Julianna’s large tail and resting her cheek on her hand, her laughter tinged with mockery.
“If it pleases you, Miss Vanessa, then this humble servant is satisfied,” Julianna responded without a hint of emotion, instead offering a charming smile.
Vanessa glanced at her, noticing that there was no increase in virtue points, indicating that such humiliating remarks no longer affected Julianna.
They had lost their impact.
Well, it seemed that mere humiliation couldn’t extract any more virtue from her.
It appeared that Miss Julianna no longer held any value worth her time and effort.
The lady’s education had come to an end.
Vanessa gave Julianna’s large tail one last rub.
The only thing she would miss was probably the sensation of Julianna’s tail and fox ears, which felt even more luxurious than the finest velvet.
Though it might be impolite to think so, perhaps that was the only value Julianna held in her eyes.
Holding foxy, Vanessa arrived near the capital city gates in just half an hour.
“Thank you for your hard work,” Vanessa signaled for Julianna to let her down, but the latter seemed not to hear or understand, remaining motionless.
Vanessa looked at Julianna with amusement.
“Miss Julianna, have you grown addicted to holding me?”
“With such a delightful sensation, it’s no wonder I’ve become addicted, don’t you think?” Julianna admitted with a playful smile.
“Miss Julianna, you truly have a short memory,” Vanessa narrowed her eyes, poking Julianna’s tail and plucking a few strands of fox fur.
“It’s not good to forget your lessons so quickly.”
“Put me down,” Vanessa commanded, forcing Julianna to release her.
She glanced at the fox fur in her hand and then at the unchanged virtue points, realizing that even this form of humiliation no longer affected Julianna.
She quickly lost interest.
Estimating the time, there were about five minutes left.
Vanessa looked at Julianna, considering her options. She could either return directly or…
Since they would never see each other again, why not try to squeeze out a bit more? See if there’s any reaction?
Oh my, how could I think such a thing?
Besides, wouldn’t that be too impolite?
Vanessa cupped her cheeks, gazing deeply at Julianna with a gentle yet unsettling expression that sent shivers down one’s spine.
“Miss Julianna, you performed well tonight. As a reward, you may leave on your own later.”
“Huh?” Julianna was taken aback, then put on a pitiful expression. “Miss Vanessa, are you abandoning Julianna?”
“Miss Julianna, stop acting. I’ve said I’m not interested in anything about you, and I don’t want to have anything to do with you in the future.” Vanessa tilted her head, then changed her tone.
“However…”
“Every debt has its debtor.”
Somehow, even though the memories of the previous life were just that, memories, and that life hadn’t even happened yet, and the original Winnie wasn’t her.
But still.
For some reason, knowing the plot that was supposed to unfold in that previous life made Vanessa inexplicably annoyed.
Compared to her willingness to let Julianna go after learning her identity, this fox lady in the previous life had shown no mercy, playing with her like a toy and ultimately causing her death.
Even though that Winnie wasn’t her, just thinking about how a parallel version of herself had suffered such an unjust fate, being played to death for no reason.
It still made her a little upset.
Vanessa narrowed her beautiful peach-shaped eyes.
Let it be known that Vanessa Varelis is absolutely, definitely not a petty person.
This is justifiable and merely a way to vent herfrustration.
“Miss Julianna, your strength should mostly recover by tomorrow, right?”
“You must have guessed that this dark collar has a level limit. Yes, I can responsibly tell you that, as you suspected, this collar cannot control anyone above the Wraith level.”
“No, to be precise, it can’t even control humans or demons because, you see~” Vanessa closed her eyes mysteriously, leaning close to Julianna, whispering playfully near her ear.
“It’s only for little pets~”
‘Virtue +10’
‘Current Virtue: 764’
Pfft.
Indeed, virtue is like time; squeeze it, and there’s always some left~
Leaning close to Julianna’s ear, Vanessa could sense the slight tremble in her body.
She smiled without saying a word, pretending not to notice, and stepped back.
“You don’t need to pretend anymore. This dark collar does have a time limit. You’ve already guessed that, haven’t you? Now, there’s only a little time left on this collar.” Vanessa played with her slender fingers, feigning nonchalance.
“Unfortunately, we won’t get to see Miss Julianna being so obedient anymore. We won’t meet again in the future. What a pity. How about leaving a memento? Miss Julianna wouldn’t mind, would you~?”
Julianna’s smile remained unchanged, silent.
“Miss Julianna performed very well tonight. Although you emphasize that you’re a fox, in our human world, foxes are still part of the canine family. You really were as obedient as a little dog tonight~”
“How about this, as a final gesture, why don’t you really bark like a little dog~?” Vanessa smiled sweetly.
“Oh dear~ Sorry, sorry, that was so rude of me. How could I say something so improper? My apologies, Miss Julianna, please pretend you didn’t hear that.” As if realizing the offense and impropriety of her words, Vanessa quickly corrected herself, covering her mouth and apologizing repeatedly.
However…
Was that really the case?
The first sentence was a command, but the second one, asking her to take it back, wasn’t.
In other words, only the sentence asking Julianna to imitate a little dog would activate the dark collar.
Vanessa Varelis.
This woman…
Julianna smiled inwardly, repeating the name in her heart, and then…
She crouched down, her hands pawing at the air like a little dog’s.
The charming and alluring white fox girl blinked her ruby-like eyes, genuinely playing the role of a little dog in front of Vanessa.
“Woof, woof~” Julianna smiled playfully as she looked at Vanessa, barking at her a few times.
“Woof, woof, Julianna lost, so Julianna is now master’s little doggy, woof. This little doggy is so unwilling to accept it, woof~”
“Woof.”
“Whimper, woof, this little doggy is so unwilling to leave, woof~ wants to stay with the master to win.”
“Ah, Miss Julianna, don’t take it so seriously. Didn’t I tell you not to do this?” Vanessa hurriedly tried to persuade her, but she made no move to actually stop her.
After the role-play, Julianna stood up, smiling at Vanessa without a word.
‘Virtue +20’
‘Current Virtue: 784’
“Well then, farewell~” Vanessa waved at Julianna, then as if remembering something, turned back and pulled out a spherical object from her fourth-dimensional pocket.
Julianna seemed to realize something, staring at the sphere without a word.
“Oh dear~ I almost forgot to tell Miss Julianna.” Vanessa held her cheek, smiling sweetly.
“Since noon today, this recording sphere has been in operation~”
