Gazing at the harvested virtues, Vanessa licked her pink lips with delight, her cheeks cupped in her hands.
Swinging her mace once granted her 10 virtues.
She had considered that slaying demons might yield virtues, but she hadn’t expected it to be so generous.
Thinking about it, it made sense.
Leaving these demons, who had trespassed into human territory, would only lead to more harm.
Killing them to earn virtues was indeed reasonable.
“Alright, alright, no one should move around and cause trouble,” Vanessa said with an elegant and polite smile, as sweet as a spring breeze, capable of charming one to the bones.
However, for the crimson demons, it was like a sugar-coated pill of arsenic.
“To save time for both of us, please stay calm and line up. I’ll attend to each of you one by one.”
“Human, you have some nerve!” Finally reacting, the crimson demon roared, swinging his spiked club towards Vanessa.
The immense force stirred up a gust of wind, distorting the surrounding tree trunks.
A direct hit would reduce a person, armor and all, to powder.
“Clang!”
The tremendous force, which should have been unstoppable, was halted as if a mayfly trying to topple a tree.
The crimson demon soldier was stunned.
Upon closer inspection, he saw that the spiked club he wielded with both hands was being held back by the girl’s single-handed mace.
The girl stood firm as a mountain, her expression unchanged, not even a flicker in her smile.
The only change was a few strands of her dazzling hair being tousled by the strong wind.
“You??” This block completely sobered up the crimson demon.
“Really now,” Vanessa tilted her head, using her other hand to smooth out her disheveled bangs.
“Why won’t you cooperate? Being so troublesome is quite bothersome for me.”
Not just this crimson demon, but his companions were equally shocked, their small, pupil-less eyes wide open.
Crimson demons, though not highly intelligent, were smarter than goblins.
They were beginning to sense something was amiss.
Blocking a crimson demon’s two-handed strike with one hand, was this woman truly human?
Upon seeing Vanessa’s beauty, the crimson demons were mesmerized.
Such beauty was rare, even in the demon realm.
However, faced with a life-threatening crisis, these usually ruthless and evil creatures dared not entertain any wicked thoughts.
They realized that this seemingly delicate human woman might be far beyond what mere grunts like them could handle.
“What are you staring at? Come and help!!” Seeing he was no match for the human woman, the crimson demon panicked.
The other crimson demons snapped out of their daze and rushed to aid their comrade.
They knew that if they couldn’t use their numbers to take down Vanessa, their heads would be smashed like balloons.
Seeing enemies approaching from both sides, Vanessa remained calm.
She lifted her leg, encased in white stockings and high-heeled boots, and kicked the crimson demon in front of her, sending him tumbling several times.
The force behind that kick was immense, sending the two-meter-tall crimson demon flipping through the air.
The sight of such a petite girl overpowering a behemoth was visually stunning.
Facing the sweeping spiked clubs from both sides, Vanessa leaned back effortlessly, dodging the attacks aimed at her.
In her vision, the crimson demons’ attacks seemed to slow down several times, appearing sluggish.
The two crimson demons flanking Vanessa realized they had missed and that their weapons were heading towards each other.
They tried to pull back, but the momentum was too great.
“Crack!” Two crisp sounds echoed as bones shattered.
The two crimson demons howled in pain, their weapons embedded in each other’s necks.
“Clap, clap, clap.” Vanessa smiled and gently clapped, not stinting on her praise.
“Precise swings, powerful strikes, both of you did quite well.”
“Does it hurt? Wait a moment, I’ll…” Looking at the two crimson demons who had accidentally struck each other and were now writhing in agony, Vanessa gripped her spinning mace.
With agile movements, she stepped on a crimson demon’s knee, leaped into the air, and delivered two decisive blows.
“End your suffering.”
With two sounds like watermelons bursting, the two crimson demons ceased their howls and collapsed to the ground.
As Vanessa landed on one knee, the two crimson demons fell flat.
She saw the prompt in her vision: Virtue +10, Virtue +10, Current Virtue: 34.
What kind of monster was this woman?!
The crimson demons were dumbfounded.
They had encountered powerful humans before, but never one who could match a crimson demon in strength.
“Now, who’s next~?” The tremors from the massive bodies hitting the ground hadn’t subsided, but Vanessa, having slain three demons, remained unfazed, still wearing her polite, composed smile.
However, this sweet smile now seemed like a demon’s whisper to the remaining two crimson demons.
“Don’t worry, as long as you don’t move, I promise you won’t feel any pain.”
“The more you struggle, the more it will hurt.” Vanessa’s tone was gentle and considerate, filled with concern, as if she genuinely cared for the two crimson demon grunts.
To the two surviving crimson demons, Vanessa now appeared as a demon herself, her beautiful eyes gleaming with a blood-red light, the blood on her mace particularly striking.
Vanessa herself didn’t know why she had become like this, but the thrill of this “whack-a-mole” game made it hard for her to stop.
On the other hand, she truly cared for these two crimson demons.
Demons trespassing into human territory had to be prepared for retaliation.
Since death was inevitable, wouldn’t a quick and painless end be better?
“Crimson demons will never be slaves!” The two surviving crimson demons exchanged glances and charged forward like madmen, shouting the names of their ancestors as if it would grant them some buff.
Vanessa couldn’t understand their words.
They decided to use a wheel tactic to wear Vanessa down.
Their coordination was seamless, their weapons swinging with ferocious force, each strike tearing up the ground.
Yet, amidst their relentless assault, Vanessa moved like a butterfly dancing in a rainy night, untouched by the rain, her movements graceful and precise.
It was as if she wasn’t dodging life-threatening attacks from two crimson demons but performing an elegant court dance, coincidentally evading every aggressive strike.
This masterful combat skill seemed ingrained in her body’s memory, naturally emerging when the situation called for it.
