Chapter 8
Fu Yue doubted if she had misheard.
Drink more hot water? Does this bad man mean to make her feel better by giving her what she lacks?
Fu Yue, who suddenly understood, quickly sniffed and stopped crying, moving away from Arnold’s shoulder.
Not only did she see the faint marks left on his clothes because of her crying, she felt no shame. She even started imitating his indifferent look and stared back at him.
She couldn’t hold any illusion about this owner. Comfort? Non-existent!
Upon seeing the immediate response of the Blue Star people pet to her words, stopping the tears, Arnold noted the information just obtained.
Then, he summoned on the retina the document just received today from the Empire, regarding "the initial steps in taking care of Blue Star people pets".
He had already marked the completion of the first step mentioned, "isolating the pet until the caregiver develops resistance to its genes."
Arnold looked at the second step.
Addressing his Blue Star people pet who was looking at him, he said, "Your separate room is ready, come with me."
What? She, alone, room?
Upon hearing this news, Fu Yue couldn’t help but smile happily again. Being quick-witted, she immediately slid down the host’s leg and took a few steps back, thoughtfully leaving space for the host to walk.
This candy felt as sweet as could be to Fu Yue’s heart, especially after living every day in a place like Pet Warehouse, where privacy was nonexistent. Even though she was not being watched, she couldn’t shake the feeling of being monitored every day.
Thinking about being able to live in a sealed environment in the future, Fu Yue quickly let go of any past grievances and waited for Arnold to stand up with a bright smile on her face.
When Arnold stood up, Fu Yue realized the height difference between them. Arnold must have been around two meters tall, and she could only see up to his waist when looking straight ahead.
As she slowly raised her head, Fu Yue saw the tall Arnold. His military-like presence felt like a small mountain pressing down, with sharp facial features and piercing red eyes. The pressure she felt now was much greater than when she was sitting before. Instinctively, she took a step back before realizing her mistake.
Arnold noticed Fu Yue’s slight movement backward, but he didn’t say anything. Being able to stand in front of him as a fragile Blue Star person was already commendable. It was even more remarkable than some advanced second-tier civilizations, whose legs would shake in his presence.
On the other hand, Fu Yue felt like she wanted to beat her chest in frustration. What was she even doing in front of her host dad, the future owner of the house she would be assigned to?
Before she could come up with any flattering words or rainbow farts, Arnold had already averted his gaze and walked out the room.
"Follow me."
Fu Yue felt embarrassed and quickly followed behind Arnold.
Not long after they walked, they reached the edge of the living room. Arnold stopped and glanced back at Fu Yue.
Suddenly, a purple gem-shaped object appeared in front of her retina. Before she could speak, Arnold answered her confusion, "Accept this key, and you can open your own room."
Thinking of "accepting", the gem slowly approached her. As it touched her body, it disappeared from her sight.
How magical!
Arnold pointed to the edge of the wall. Fu Yue walked over lightly, and the wall automatically recognized her. A smooth door opened on a surface that seemed empty.
"This is your room," Arnold’s voice came from behind her.
At that moment, Fu Yue completely forgot her previous fear. Whoever gives the room, is her god!
"Thank you, General!" Fu Yue’s tone now was very sincere and enthusiastic.
"Well, rest well." Arnold turned and walked towards a different hallway than the one Fu Yue came from.
Watching the boss finally go far away, Fu Yue excitedly ran into the room and started exploring.
As soon as she entered the room, Fu Yue used her authority to simply knock down a wall and made a balcony.
Anxiously, she walked to the balcony, where all she could see was green.
Leaves, grass, mud, all filled her entire field of vision with green. Countless vines climbed on the tall towering tree in front of her. She found herself in a rainforest!
The weather outside was not very good, raining gently, hitting the leaves and soil, making a gentle sound. The rainforest regained its original appearance.
But all this had nothing to do with Fu Yue. Because it seemed like there was a transparent protective cover outside the white building, so when raindrops fell, they would slide down along this protective cover.
Breathing in the fresh air here in big gulps, enjoying the tranquility brought by nature, Fu Yue returned to her room.
Looking at this room, which is about 30 square meters, she was extremely happy!
Is she dreaming? No, that’s not it. She never dared to dream of a space like this before.
Lying down on a very soft big sofa, Fu Yue started to change the room filled with boring white.
After changing the final small piece to dark green, Fu Yue looked at the room with a main color of blush pink, decorated with dark green and metallic accents, and finally nodded in satisfaction.
She couldn’t help but think of her cramped rental house on Blue Star. Even though she worked in design, she didn’t have the money or energy to renovate it.
Now she could actually personalize and customize her own room, as an interior designer, Fu Yue felt extremely satisfied.
Curious, she opened the room’s projection environment replacement mode. The numerous modes made her dizzy, and in the end, she randomly chose one called "Tada Forest."
In just one second, Fu Yue found herself in a place resembling a bamboo forest, and though the sofa beneath her felt the same, it had transformed into a pile of earth.
"Wow…" Unable to contain herself, Fu Yue exclaimed in admiration.
The 3D projections here were so realistic that Fu Yue accidentally walked into walls without realizing it. In the meantime, winds from all directions occasionally blew, swaying the bamboo and Fu Yue’s hair.
The room even emitted a faint scent of mud mixed with bamboo to make it more lifelike.
This is amazing! What’s the difference between this and traveling the whole universe? I love it!
Lying on the sofa, Fu Yue immediately saw various functions and permissions of the entire house in front of her eyes. She checked these permissions. Does this mean she can use all of them?
Arnold’s emotionless face appeared in Fu Yue’s mind. She never expected her benefactor to be so generous!
As Fu Yue happily lay on the sofa, looking through her other permissions on the liquid crystal display here, a message suddenly appeared on her retina, signed by Arnold.
[We are going out tomorrow, get ready.]
Going out? Could she really go out tomorrow?
Oh my, is today a special day? How can so many good things happen to me all at once!
Fu Yue rolled on the big couch to show her excitement before carefully texting a reply.
After leaving the living room, Arnold went back to his office.
After finishing all his official work, Arnold opened a file titled "Steps to Take Care of Blue Star people Pets", and marked the second step "Give Blue Star people Pets their own room" as completed.
He then looked at the next task, "Take Blue Star people Pets outside."
Being efficient, he sent a message to the pets as soon as he saw the task.
Soon, he received a reply.
[Thank you for the invite. Should we go on an adventure in the forest, or near a lake or river? What preparations do we need to make? Looking forward to your response.]
"Go out here?" Arnold glanced at the primitive forest outside the window.
This was Astronaut Star, a completely primitive planet. On this planet, besides him and Blue Star people Pets, there were only beings with advanced intellect.
He was sure that "going out" in the document definitely did not mean going to a place like Astronaut Star.
By coincidence, at that moment, Carter saw a message called "Going Out with Blue Star People."
[I estimate that you are about to go out with Blue Star People’s pet. As an expert on Blue Star People, I strongly suggest that you first take Blue Star People to our home planet, Krypton Star. Don’t go to the capital nest, go to the bustling interstellar city, Winged Bee City. Remember to buy a locator at the mall there.]
After reading this message, Arnold’s reminder 1086 timely echoed in the room.
"Taking the Blue Star People’s pet out can strengthen your bond and provide more opportunities to connect emotionally. Please make the most of it." "Hmm," Arnold absentmindedly replied to the system’s words while still sending a message to the Blue Star People’s pet. Glancing at the terminal, he noticed that 1086 had not entered standby mode and asked casually, "Is there anything else to report?"
"Also, your repeated requests to see the pet room and its activities of Blue Star People have been rejected by the system. The system has explained the rejection: Firstly, as the Blue Star People’s pet is not currently in the Pet Warehouse but in a private room in the White House, the system, based on its house permissions, deems it necessary to protect its privacy." Hearing this, Arnold stopped typing the reply in his hand, just staring at 1086’s external terminal.
"Secondly, a document issued by Dr. Carter indicates the need to provide Blue Star People with some personal free time, and the system has rejected this request." Arnold seemed incredulous as he accessed his thought record and saw the numerous commands to monitor the pet activities of Blue Star People. He fell into a brief silence.
Then he spoke.
"Firstly, I am the true owner of this White House, and decisions on accessing personal activity projection should be up to me. Secondly, although Dr. Carter is an authority on Blue Star People, the document he released is not an official directive but rather a report on sodium research data."
Arnold paused for a moment, then summed up his words, "I reject your explanation and request to be able to see the movements of Blue Star People’s pets whenever I want."
Although Arnold didn’t know why he kept feeling this urge, since he wanted to see, he decided to fight for his right actively.
After a long analysis following 1086, a conclusion was reached.
"[Considering your reasons are somewhat reasonable, we will allow viewing once a day for half an hour.] "Ten times a day, one hour each." How can that little time be enough?
"[Viewing twice a day for half an hour.] "Five times a day, one hour each."
"[Viewing three times a day for one hour.] The conditions set by 1086 finally satisfied Arnold, and so both parties agreed on this point, eventually reaching a consensus.
