Chapter 6
After three days of meetings, Arnold finally flew his spaceship back to one of his properties – Astronaut Star.
Just as he entered his familiar office area, 1086 quickly accessed the connection data of the Blue Star People pet that he wanted.
"[Please wait, syncing now…] At that moment, a request for a 3D video connection popped up on the external terminal. It was a call from Carter. Despite the progress bar only just starting, Arnold pressed "accept" expressionlessly.
"How does it feel to have a pet for the first time? This Blue Star People pet matches you with over ninety percent compatibility." Carter raised an eyebrow, boasting straightforwardly, "Thanks to our Minli, I have recently discovered new achievements."
This was why Arnold hesitated to answer the phone – every word spoken by the exceptional biologist would somehow involve his Blue Star People pet.
Even now, just mentioning the Blue Star People, he did not even add the pet suffix, calling it by its full name directly.
Absurd.
It’s like comparing a civilization of Level Three to a civilization of Level One.
Fortunately, he no longer had to listen to the other party’s one-sided presentation.
The clips he sent over were carefully selected fight scenes from several famous battles. Surely, the Blue Star People pet must have developed admiration for him by now.
Arnold’s expression remained unchanged, but his voice was slightly louder than usual, "So far, my interaction with pets has been normal."
"Indeed, the breakthrough in Kurds’ stagnant evolution lies in emotional learning," Carter sincerely exclaimed.
"Your theory, which you proposed yourself, certainly has no reason to oppose," Arnold felt it was only natural.
Carter, a renowned interstellar biologist and one of the pioneers in the concept of using emotions of Blue Star people to evolve their own race within the Kurds, is very famous.
Carter immediately brought out two electronic display charts, both showing smooth curves up to the most recent data, where the curves almost sharply rose in a straight line.
He casually glanced at the indicator chart, his face filled with pride, "One of these charts represents the statistics of my research findings in the past fifty years, and the other shows my emotional growth index. Both have explosively surged in the past five years; everyone who participated five years ago has similar progress like mine. That’s why the adaptation of the Blue Star people has advanced so quickly this time."
Carter’s face almost cried out "thank me," but unfortunately, his conversation partner was Arnold. Hence, all his expressions and emotions sank without a ripple. However, already accustomed to his friend’s demeanor, he didn’t mind at all.
Looking at his friend, known as the "Cold-faced General" behind the empire, Carter solemnly promised, "You will soon understand the benefits, as long as you interact carefully with the Blue Star people."
"Of course, after all, this is an order from the empire. Currently, I get along very harmoniously with the Blue Star people’s pets, and I believe that soon…"
"Warning! Abnormal emotions detected in Blue Star people’s pets! Analyzing… Analysis complete, current emotions of Blue Star people’s pets are mainly fear and fright, with eighty-eight percent attributed to the forced viewing of movies set by you. Due to the high level of fear in Blue Star people’s pets, it has already had a negative impact on their mental and physical state. For a harmonious relationship between you and your pet, please stop this behavior immediately!"
Arnold’s voice abruptly stopped.
A burst of laughter suddenly filled the entire office.
"Hahaha… Is this what you call a harmonious relationship?" Others may fear the "stern general," but Carter, who has been classmates with him since childhood, is not afraid. So, he laughed without any psychological burden at the moment.
Arnold’s eyebrows twitched slightly.
Well, it seems like Carter doesn’t want to take his human pet on a mandatory vacation to the Star Domain this year.
Just as Arnold was blankly planning the implementation of this matter, Carter, who had had enough laughter, finally began to deal with the real issue. As the initiator of this operation, he was also one of the developers of the emotional detection system.
After a detailed inquiry, Carter stated his opinion, "Blue Star people are far more fragile beings than you imagine. Their sensitive emotions can sometimes be a weapon that harms themselves.
The idea of ‘displaying power to gain admiration from Blue Star people’ is not wrong, but it shouldn’t involve crude violent and bloody scenes." Carter tapped his head and suddenly had a bright idea, "Perhaps using holographic combat game visuals is a good idea. I have tried playing with Minli before. It can replicate a proportionate human output, showcasing your combat abilities fully, replacing bloody scenes with real audience elements, and so on."
Arnold didn’t like the idea because he thought that the best way to learn was through practice, especially after his previous failures.
"Why not give it a try?" Carter suggested, glancing at the monitor nearby. "The lab’s bio-cultivation tank is full, and there’s a mermaid here that needs a place to stay. Can I keep it at your place for two days?"
"What about Pet Warehouse?"
"I only have one tank left at home now," Carter replied, hearing water sounds outside. "I need to go take care of the mermaid issue."
After saying this, Carter quickly sent a game over and ended the call abruptly.
After the call, the screen automatically displayed Pet Warehouse, showing that the Blue Star people were still asleep in the nutrient tank.
After staring at the tank for a while, Arnold opened the game "Arena" that Carter had sent.
While the Blue Star people’s pet was still in the nutrient tank, he needed to familiarize himself with the game controls first.
Arnold had never played a holographic game before and only realized after installing it that it was a small game that came with the system.
After carefully setting the basic parameters and adjusting the specific game scenes, he entered the game interface with his newly purchased gaming recording device.
After taking out his selected weapon, and without being connected to the internet, the system unexpectedly provided him with an opponent. Despite the opponent wearing a heavy helmet that covered their face, Arnold, who normally wouldn’t show mercy in battles, noticed it was likely a woman from her figure.
Seeing the opponent standing still, he charged towards her.
-After spending a day in the nutrient pod, Fu Yue woke up to find herself suddenly faced with bloody images. Feeling terrified, she recalled Sister Minli’s suggestion of playing a small game.
Perhaps holographic games could help her temporarily escape the nightmares?
Finding the button for holographic games in the nutrient pod, Fu Yue selected the game "Arena" on the game panel. Excitedly, she entered a whole new world.
Although the world was endlessly white, the textures underfoot and the body’s movements when reaching out felt just like in the real world.
How magical!
Fu Yue explored the game with enthusiasm before discovering the game’s settings panel.
There are many things that can be set here, roughly divided into two categories, "appearance" and "physical fitness."
Women are visual creatures, just like office workers.
So even though the "appearance" section is filled with armor, Fu Yue carefully selected the material and style, determined to create a beautiful yet strong female knight image.
When she activated the mirror function in the game, Fu Yue admired herself in the dazzling purple armor shining under the artificial light, emitting a dazzling halo. The beautiful golden-trimmed cape further accentuated her noble demeanor.
"Ha!" Fu Yue casually struck a pose as if fencing, exuding a strong and imposing aura.
Handsome!
Fu Yue could imagine herself winning the competition, with everyone applauding her from all over the country.
Gracefully retracting the nonexistent sword, Fu Yue then clicked on the "physical fitness" section.
The overwhelming amount of data made her dizzy. After selecting all the defaults and scrolling to the bottom, just as she was about to confirm, the "sensitivity to pain – 50%" caught her attention.
She is a little afraid of pain… Is this setting of fifty percent a bit too cruel for a noble female knight?
Changing it manually to ten percent, Fu Yue shook her cloak and confidently pressed the "enter game" button.
Everything went black before suddenly lighting up again.
Noisy voices suddenly flooded into Fu Yue’s ears from all directions. Looking around, this place resembled a high-tech version of an ancient Roman colosseum. All the seats were suspended in a bell-shaped arrangement around the dueling area where she stood.
Taking a closer look at the audience, Fu Yue noticed how strange and varied they all looked, some even resembling characters from a horror movie scene.
Surrounded by such a group of creatures screaming at her, she felt a bit overwhelmed.
Let’s focus on something else… She shifted her gaze back to the stage. The first things that caught her attention were the two small spheres hovering directly above her head.
Moving quickly and smoothly, one on each side. But no matter how they moved, something like a lens in the center of their round bodies always stayed aimed at her.
Looking up, she saw four screens on the big screen each displaying her image from all angles, capturing her beauty completely.
Before Fu Yue could show off, the NPC standing in front suddenly attacked her.
Oh wait, does this game start automatically? Where is the pause button?
The NPC opposite was wearing an ugly giant armor and holding a long spear. With a swift movement, Fu Yue was thrown into the sky according to the NPC’s will.
Oh! Where did he get that weapon from!
For the next five minutes, Fu Yue didn’t touch the ground.
She was continuously stabbed into the sky by the opponent for fifty times, and just as she was about to fall, the opponent kicked her, sending her back into the air.
She spent a long time choosing her armor!
Fu Yue looked down and saw that her beautiful armor was covered in marks and a large dent in the middle.
I can’t take it anymore!
Fu Yue wanted to get her equipment on the ground, but she decided to search for weapons in the sky by opening a panel.
About to land, Fu Yue quickly grabbed a small knife from the weapons list and stabbed at the NPC below.
The opponent moved much faster than Fu Yue expected. Before she could see their actions clearly, her knife flew out of her hand.
Suddenly, a giant hand grabbed her cloak, the beautiful one she was wearing.
Spun around on the ground, she was thrown out completely by centrifugal force, only to be caught at the end point where she was then elbowed and brought back.
And so, Fu Yue found herself tossed around by the same person on the field.
Despite feeling only ten percent of the pain, the multiple attacks put a lot of pressure on her body.
Okay, that’s not important.
As Fu Yue was being beaten, she noticed her every move was being shown on a big screen through four cameras that stayed with her.
What a shameful play! She refused!
Looking at the battered figure on the screen, Fu Yue was grateful that at least the armor still had a hood to cover her last bit of modesty… On the screen next to her, six all-around screens were showing NPCs acting like heroes, beating up the main character.
There were also taunts coming from all around her, like "Boo", "Get off the stage," "Useless," and more. If Fu Yue had an anger meter on her head right now, it would have skyrocketed, reaching a critical point, ready to unleash her ultimate move.
Is she playing the game or is the game playing her?
Isn’t this NPC going a bit too far?
Shouldn’t a newbie be allowed to win a few rounds easily to develop feelings for the game first?
Watching the giant armor charging towards her again, the enraged Fu Yue fumbled with the control panel, finally finding the button she wanted and angrily pressed confirm.
Stop the fight!
Arnold was about to use his final move to defeat this overly weak opponent when the word "Surrender" suddenly appeared around the NPC.
Arnold reached out his hand towards the opponent’s face, but stopped at that moment.
Making a gesture to signal the end of the battle, he was about to leave the game to find his Blue Star people pet, when he caught sight of the defeated "NPC" out of the corner of his eye, his expression freezing.
Could it be… his Blue Star people pet?
