Chapter 28
Peidi has been under a lot of pressure lately.
Five military ships responsible for transporting powerful weapons for warships were lost due to a chain of errors in operation and commands during time-traveling.
All five military ships were equipped with heavy-duty new military weapons, ranging from light to heavy. If they fell into the hands of malicious cosmic conspirators, they could easily gain the power to destroy a level-two civilization planet just by using forceful entry.
Luckily, General Arnold arrived at the scene quickly, and by applying pressure to the planet created by the time-travel machine, he immediately obtained the internal operation rules.
After analyzing and comparing the surrounding temporal particles, seven potential locations were identified, making the search progress rapidly.
Upon investigating suspicious locations, one of the most remote and desolate corners of the universe was discovered to have signals from five warships, with the exact locations of only two known, while three were still missing.
However, just the day before yesterday, after the General personally surveyed the site and everyone else was at a loss, he determined that a wormhole was blocking the signal source, causing inaccuracies in location data collection.
As expected, after five interstellar hours, the remaining three warships were also successfully located.
On the surface, it seemed like the matter had been perfectly resolved. In reality, many people thought so too.
However, Peidi, who knew General Arnold’s temperament well, knew that this was just the beginning.
Indeed, starting from yesterday morning, two military planets were placed under martial law. All senior officers were summoned by the General to the square for a unified address.
Subsequently, Arnold ordered that all those involved in the transportation be rigorously investigated with espionage methods.
Two important military officers were removed from their positions, and senior officers needed to go to the general’s meeting room immediately after the meeting ended, as if heading to the battlefield.
As General Arnold’s aide, Peidi naturally accompanied him throughout, without a moment of relaxation.
Thinking of the constant pressure General Arnold exuded in the meeting room, along with the pressing questions and commands during the meeting, Peidi remained stiff, carrying out orders mechanically.
He understood the seriousness of the mistake this time. Going deeper, if it was done intentionally by someone from within their own ranks… the consequences would be unimaginable.
Under such high pressure, while the General may not have felt it, the morale of the subordinates was reaching its breaking point.
Peidi quickly opened the secret vault, retrieved the desired electronic files, and hastened his steps back. Unexpectedly, he ran into a group of disbanded senior officers.
Normally imposing and arrogant, the officers now looked wilted and lifeless, like frost-bitten vegetables.
Just as Peidi planned to cautiously avoid them, he was unfortunately spotted. The officers swarmed towards him eagerly, like hungry animals.
Officer A, "General Peidi, if these meetings continue like this, I fear I might have brain death any moment."
Peidi said, "There’s nothing we can do about it." The general is feeling upset right now.
Officer B said, "The general might as well just whip me instead, this high-pressure environment is really too painful!"
Peidi replied, "This issue won’t be solved by punishing you. If it could be solved that way, I would definitely be the first to act."
Officer C asked, "Why is it that even I, who is in charge of army logistics, got scolded by the general today?"
Peidi stayed silent as Officer D continued speaking, overwhelming him with their words, until Peidi, unable to resist their onslaught any longer, finally compromised and said, "I will give it a try…" It really wasn’t a solution for the general’s bad mood to continue that way.
But how should we handle this situation… In the past, only military victories could improve General Arnold’s mood.
However, now it’s a time of universal peace, so he couldn’t just start a war to distract General Arnold.
But speaking of recent events… Peidi suddenly remembered what happened after two remote video conferences that were held.
Maybe, the Blue Star person Fu Yue could be a good breakthrough.
When Peidi turned around, he prepared a military meteor ship, known as the fastest in the Star Domain, to travel to Astronaut Star.
Fu Yue observed the unfamiliar person on the monitor, who appeared to be a mix of Eastern and Western descent, leaning more towards Asian.
Although the expressionless face and cold tone of Arnold did not stir any closeness in Fu Yue, judging by the high similarity, she felt this person must at least be a trusted ally of Arnold.
Immediately, she retrieved the character reference diagram left by Arnold, confirming that he was indeed the boss’s right-hand man. Therefore, Fu Yue opened the White House’s protective screen and let the person in.
Upon entering the White House, Peidi spotted the Blue Star people who had been lying on the sofa, making their way towards them. Upon closer inspection, he even noticed a pile of food spread out on the sofa.
Peidi: !!
Observing the relaxed state of the Blue Star people in front of him, it was clear that they did not consider eating food placed on the sofa to be a hidden secret, as if it was a normal part of their daily routine.
Would the general really allow someone to eat improperly and sit in an unsuitable manner in front of him?
Could this delicate-looking Blue Star person, who seemed to have almost no combat strength, actually be a creature capable of using high-level enchantment skills to hide their identity? But he had not come across any reports like this in the relevant data.
Peidi, whose eyes widened in surprise, stood still at the door and said, "I’m here to take you to General Arnold’s military camp."
"Oh," Fu Yue immediately imagined reasons why her dog boss was here to pick her up.
It had been so long since she returned, he probably wanted to scold her… Yes, balancing work and rest is important.
She was about to leave when she remembered the clothing allowance Arnold had given her before leaving.
Now that her boss was asking her to work on an assignment, it was a good opportunity to show him how she spent the money.
So, after making Peidi wait at the door for a while, she changed into a light yellow dress with puffy sleeves and fluffy, slightly curly hair before leaving together.
As soon as Fu Yue entered, Peidi could smell the faint scent of her genetics combined with her delicate skin, making him think it was not a good idea to send Fu Yue to the military area.
So, he suggested on the spot, "Miss Fu Yue, I recommend spraying on General Arnold’s genetic pheromones for safety before we head out."
"Genetic pheromones? What’s that?"
Peidi, "I remember the general should have customized a bottle for you, it’s purple and made of glass. Do you remember?"
Oh… it’s that perfume! But the name of this perfume sounds a bit strange and seems to be directly related to Arnold.
Fu Yue took out this bottle from her bag, sprayed a bit on herself first, because safety comes first.
Then, she asked Peidi for information about this perfume.
Upon asking, Peidi directly answered, "This is the general’s personal pheromone scent, but after training, we usually keep it inside our bodies. Pheromones usually convey some information, like the one you have now, Miss Fu Yue, it contains a very strong possessive idea."
To put it simply, when she sprays this perfume, it’s like she’s writing on herself, "Property of Arnold, do not disturb."
How embarrassing! What kind of old-fashioned flirting is this!
Fu Yue blushed for the first time for her boss, she was not embarrassed. She was simply blushing out of shame! She also branded herself as shameless in her impression of Arnold.
No way, how can you spray this in front of me!
Fu Yue covered her hot cheeks and asked another important question, "What does General Peidi smell like now, with General Arnold’s genetic pheromones?"
"It has a very powerful presence, with the distinct scent of the general’s threatening aura. I believe wearing this pheromone, no matter where you are, the level of threat you face should decrease significantly."
Oh, more than just decrease, it’s downright terrifying.
Just thinking about the previous event of avoiding the beast, along with the embarrassing scene at the magic show, Fu Yue’s face quickly returned to normal.
When she came to her senses, she found herself at the entrance of the spaceship.
The familiar threshold reaching above her waist, was standing right in front of her.
But without Arnold or the hoverboard today, Fu Yue had to try to climb onto the spaceship herself.
Taking a few steps back with experience, just as she was about to run, Peidi stood at the doorway and stopped her.
His voice sounded flat and even, "Please wait a moment."
After a short moment, Fu Yue saw the spaceship automatically lower to a height almost level with the ground.
What’s going on?
Fu Yue easily walked onto the spaceship and went to the cockpit to ask what was happening.
Though Peidi wondered the necessity of this question, he still answered without hesitation, "Every spaceship has automatic lifting and lowering functions. The one you are on now is a military ship, of course, equipped with these functions."
"Hmm."
Fu Yue finally understood what her boss, a dog, was thinking. When it comes to pets, they always take advantage and assert their dominance.
Thinking back to her embarrassment earlier, Fu Yue felt it wasn’t worth it. This perfume was just another fancy, high-tech version of a collar!
