Chapter 27
Finally, it was time for the pets to show up. As the pets entered, the lights in the room dimmed, with a spotlight shining on each pet.
A beautiful mountain bird strutted confidently on the dazzling runway, proudly displaying its feathers and charm. With graceful steps, it would return to its owner elegantly.
It was supposed to be like this.
Suddenly feeling the immense pressure of the Zerg tribe behind it, the bird flapped its wings, accidentally smearing itself on its owner’s face in the chaos.
Of course, not only the bird was embarrassed. The pets in front and behind Fu Yue all ended up in a mess.
In the prime spot without any competition or pressure, Fu Yue timidly glanced at the bird being disciplined obediently.
She really didn’t mean to. Before coming, she hurriedly got rid of the fragrance, and even asked the staff to bring her a bottle of perfume and sprayed it all over herself.
Just when she asked the waiter and he said he was fine, Fu Yue returned to the banquet.
Unexpectedly, it still had some effect on other pets.
So, she really didn’t mean to, dear bird… To show gratitude for the bird giving way on the track, Fu Yue had to hold her head up high and walk confidently, instantly creating a strong contrast with the chaotic pets earlier.
Seeing the approving looks from the audience, Fu Yue nodded.
Alright! Impressions successfully secured!
When the light above her head disappeared, Fu Yue finally walked up to Arnold.
Arnold, as usual, was sitting upright on the sofa, looking very comfortable.
"General, I’m back," Fu Yue smiled and was about to sit on his lap out of habit, but the dim atmosphere and the faint scent of luxury and alcohol at the banquet reminded her.
Looking at the next seat, Fu Yue shifted and sat on the sofa next to Arnold.
Phew, that was close!
Arnold, who had already positioned himself to hold Fu Yue, hesitated with his hands in the air.
"Hmm."
After all the pets had entered, the stage lights were brightened again. This marked the start of the pet talent show.
The talent show was even more impressive than Fu Yue had imagined.
There were creatures that could breathe fireballs into roses and elusive deer that could perform small-scale illusions.
There were even different kinds of merfolk who made water dance in the air, formed crystal rings around water droplets, and then handed them to each audience member in the venue.
Fu Yue held a water droplet between her thumb and forefinger, looking at it closely. She felt that this round droplet could make a great story to impress others next time, pretending she found a pearl.
Placing the water droplet back into her palm, Fu Yue sighed again. Perhaps magic was the only way to describe the talent displayed here…
Wondering what unique trick she could perform later to stand out… After thinking for a while, she asked the waiter to bring her two opaque cups and a pen.
Once she had the items, Fu Yue turned to Arnold and said, "General, may I borrow two gold Star Coins from you?"
She had been so rushed when she left that she didn’t even have time to think about what to take along.
Arnold didn’t ask any questions and simply handed over the Star Coins, saying, "Here, use these."
"Thank you, General! I will make sure to give a great performance later!" Fu Yue said happily, looking at the Star Coins.
"Okay."
"And now, presenting the rare Blue Star pet monopolized by the Kurds, here comes Fu Yue!"
As the host began to speak, a murmur of whispers immediately rose from the audience below.
"Wow, the Krud people are really here today! I heard one of them is even a general!"
"So this is what the Blue Star people look like, they seem nice."
"I wonder what talents the Blue Star people have!"
Unexpectedly carrying such huge expectations and curiosity, Fu Yue took a deep breath as she walked onto the stage, behind the table she had prepared earlier, and looked at the floating sofas around her and the eyes staring at her intently.
Her performance was actually quite simple, just doing two small magic tricks on stage. Then she told the audience that she didn’t use any superpowers for this performance, earning admiration from the audience below.
These two tricks were ones she had performed on stage during her time at university, so she was not too unfamiliar with them now.
Fu Yue placed two coins into two cups, swiftly moving them around in different directions before finally settling them on either side of her hands.
Opening the cup on her left side, Fu Yue skillfully showed the audience that it was empty inside.
"Does anyone know where the coin that was originally in this cup is now?" She timely asked the question to catch the audience’s curiosity.
Just then, Fu Yue heard Arnold sitting in the middle of the second row say, "Both coins are now in the cup on your right hand side, right?"
Fu Yue looked up in surprise, never expecting Arnold to help spice up the atmosphere at a crucial moment. She felt really grateful inside, realizing that the boss still cared for the employees.
"Thank you so much, General Arnold! If I win this time, I will definitely give you a heartfelt compliment!" she promised.
Fu Yue’s smile had just begun to spread to the audience below when she heard Arnold’s calm narration.
"I saw you quickly throw it into the cup on the right using a visual blind spot," he explained. Though it was a blind spot, the movement of the little pet couldn’t escape his eyes with super dynamic vision.
Fu Yue froze.
Her smile froze along with her face.
Fu Yue’s temple started twitching, her long-hidden veins finally appearing on her face. While her mouth still held a smile, her strong emotions caused her eyebrows to furrow tightly, giving her a distorted and angry expression.
Staring at an audience member sitting below with a straight face, Fu Yue felt like a volcano was erupting inside her.
Arnold, a, big, general!
She used to think Arnold’s brain only had occasional spasms, but today she realized that Arnold’s brain was constantly trembling, like an earthquake of magnitude ten!
Expose what benefits you get by exposing me!
Is it appropriate for you to expose me like this? Doesn’t my failed performance on stage affect your reputation?
Fu Yue wanted nothing more than to rush over and give him a taste of justice.
But just as she took a step forward, the magic table in front of her blocked her path, reminding her of her current predicament.
So she gritted her teeth in anger and forcibly suppressed her urge to explode with emotions. Facing the audience below, who remained temporarily silent and confused, she composed herself and reluctantly spoke, "Well… General, you truly… observe very carefully!"
"But!" Fu Yue suddenly raised her voice and changed the subject, "You definitely won’t be able to guess the next magic trick!!!"
Right now, even though Fu Yue is forcing a smile, her eyes looking at Arnold clearly say, "Shut up" in big letters.
At the same time, 1086 is translating in Arnold’s mind.
[Warning! Warning! Fu Yue is extremely angry right now, it’s recommended to avoid her.]
"Is this why I feel uncomfortable when she smiles?" Today, Arnold finally learned from Fu Yue’s strong emotions that facial expressions and emotions can be different.
But a new question arose in his mind, "I just answered seriously, why did Fu Yue get angry?"
[The artificial intelligence system currently doesn’t fully understand the complex emotions of Blue Star people, but it has sent relevant information to the database. After accumulating emotions from Blue Star people thousands of times, the system will analyze them thoroughly and provide a satisfactory answer.]
"Hmm." The artificial intelligence system is indeed not very advanced in this aspect.
Despite not having an answer for now, Arnold maintained his usual expressionless and silent mode during the next magic trick.
But after the magic trick was completed, another audience member spoke up, "It’s because during the third act, you put the pen behind your ear."
After a moment of confusion, Fu Yue finally understood.
"Hahaha… The gentleman’s answer is quite good too!"
Who allowed you to answer first! She didn’t even ask the question!
What was supposed to be a magic show has turned into a riddle guessing game, all because of Arnold’s idea!
Once Fu Yue figured it out, she turned her gaze back to Arnold.
Arnold thought to himself, "It’s all thanks to having such a great leader that we’re now experiencing this embarrassing moment of being exposed on the spot. With your sharp eyes, why aren’t you up in the sky?"
To make things worse, most of the audience below now had doubts.
"What kind of performance is this? I feel like I can see through it."
"Maybe it’s a warm-up act, or a comedy show?"
From the audience, various sounds of suspicion could be heard. Fu Yue simply thought to herself, "You are right!"
She felt like everything was falling apart, and she didn’t even care about the prize money. The only motivation Fu Yue had to stay on stage was to show Arnold that she could outshine him.
No one should bully the hardworking people!
Fu Yue tried to remain calm in the face of skepticism, and she smiled, "Yes, this is just one of my talents. Another one is performing with language."
Seeing the puzzled looks from the audience, Fu Yue added, "Every morning when I wake up, I look at General Arnold’s photo and say, ‘You look handsome today!’" Her face remained expressionless all day.
"Your exceptional appearance and unmatched abilities make everyone else pale in comparison." It means you think you are better than everyone else.
"Just by looking at you, countless women fall at your feet, yet you still ignore them every single day." Yes, arrogance and conceit are tailor-made words for you.
Fu Yue quickly improvised words of praise for midday, evening, before and after meals, and entering and leaving the room because of this standard.
After talking until her mouth was dry, she finally felt satisfied with the praise she had given herself, and to her surprise, there was enthusiastic applause from the audience as she bowed to thank them.
"Wow, there can’t be such a smart intergalactic pet that praises people so well!"
"I wish I could hear such praise every day!"
"Indeed, the Blue Star people really have some power."
Fu Yue looked up in confusion and saw a group of audience below clapping with approval.
"Oh, so all of you look like you’re not very smart…" After coming off stage, Fu Yue didn’t speak to Arnold again until the end of the banquet.
However, at the award ceremony, when she received a consolation prize, Fu Yue’s mood improved slightly.
On the flying ship back, Arnold watched happily as Fu Yue counted her coins. He thought it was a good time to finally express his thoughts, "In the future, you can wear some different clothes if you want to."
Fu Yue continued counting coins without looking up, her voice very calm, "Thank you, General."
She did want to wear nice clothes, but she didn’t have money to buy them. Besides, who wants to dress up in the room when there’s hardly anyone around.
"Oh, I forgot about Arnold," she said.
"Oh well, nevermind, he’s not really a friend anyway," she thought.
Fu Yue continued counting her coins peacefully.
"Ahem, I can pay you the appropriate fee," a voice said above her.
Upon hearing about the possibility of receiving a generous reward, Fu Yue immediately looked up and said, "Thank you, General, you are so kind!"
"Hmm," he replied.
Just as he was about to say something else, Arnold received an urgent message from Peidi. After quickly scanning it, his expression darkened.
In a serious tone, Arnold said, "After I drop you off, I will have to leave for a few days."
Fu Yue nodded in understanding, noticing Arnold’s sudden change in demeanor, indicating that the situation might be quite serious this time.
After that, Fu Yue just relaxed and stayed alone in the white house.
At first, Fu Yue was a little uncomfortable with Arnold’s sudden disappearance, but gradually, she began to enjoy this disorganized and carefree life.
Apart from occasionally dreaming about Blue Star, she divided her time into playing games and watching videos, which made her life feel fulfilling and joyful!
But the happy days only lasted for five days before they were interrupted by a unexpected visitor knocking on the door.
The person outside introduced himself on the monitor, "I am Peidi, General Arnold’s subordinate."
