Chapter 21
After leaving the experience hall, they were back on the busy street.
The bright stars shone with dazzling light, making the street feel even livelier.
Fu Yue quickly forgot about the little embarrassing moment and eagerly took Arnold for a stroll on the street. They explored the whole street before finally sitting in the spaceship with a sense of satisfaction, ready to fly back.
Watching the spaceship enter the teleporter, Fu Yue waited not for the endless starry sky as she had imagined, but for intense shaking instead. Even though Arnold tried to hold onto her, Fu Yue was still spinning around from the shaking.
"What is happening… Warning! Warning! Teleporter has been maliciously modified and sent to an unknown area!"
Alarming sounds suddenly rang out in their cockpit, and the scene before them changed into a blinding red warning light flashing continuously inside the cabin.
Is the spaceship in trouble?! Are they going to die?
The sudden news frightened Fu Yue, and in the midst of the shaking, she turned and clung to the nearest heat source for comfort.
Arnold saw her like this, so he hugged her tighter.
"Activate the interstellar distress system, immediately stabilize the spaceship, and send me the ship’s damage report." The heat source emitted a voice that seemed ancient and steady, using the body as a medium to reach her ears. Although it sounded a bit lower than usual, there was no sense of panic in the sound.
Fu Yue looked up and unsurprisingly saw a face with no extra expressions. If this face was in the white house, Fu Yue would silently think he was as wooden. But now, this calm face instantly reassured Fu Yue’s heart.
It was only then that she remembered her owner, not just a strange boss, but also a powerful external figure like General Kurds.
After rolling several times in the shaking, the spaceship finally stopped.
[Ship has stabilized. Signal interference prevents distress signal. Unable to send distress signal.]
Arnold pondered for a moment, "Maintain distress status."
[Received.]
With Fu Yue settled down, she left Arnold’s chest and started observing the scene outside. Looking through the front glass window, it seemed like a huge indoor landing pad. Obviously, after the ship’s turbulence upon their arrival, they were deliberately transported to this spacious place for convenience.
Is this the legendary alien abduction? She saw it on a hologram a couple of days ago, could it be true?
Just as Fu Yue was thinking this, more than ten people suddenly appeared in front of the spaceship, and set up a huge cannon.
A man who seemed to be the leader first patted the cannon, then gestured for them to come down.
"What should we do now?" Fu Yue quietly asked, holding onto Arnold’s clothing.
Arnold said, "Let’s go down first."
Unbuckling their seat belts, Arnold didn’t hold Fu Yue’s hand, but stayed close beside her, matching her steps. He whispered softly, "Don’t leave my side."
"Okay," Fu Yue knew what to do at this moment.
After getting off the spaceship, the two followed each other’s instructions and walked over.
Perhaps Arnold’s usual confident demeanor gave Fu Yue courage. As they approached, although Fu Yue’s face was still a bit pale, she managed to look directly at the other person.
This group of people looks similar to humans, but appear very thin and wear a variety of clothes without much care.
Apart from having sharp black ears on top of their heads, they also have a long black tail behind them, which is their distinctive feature.
Fu Yue could observe, Arnold could do it even better. Calmly glancing at the figures in front of him, Arnold spoke, "Are you from the Brown Rat Tribe?"
"Neil, they actually know our tribe’s name!" a slightly chubby member of the Brown Rat Tribe exclaimed loudly to their leader.
"Foolish Aer! Keep your voice down!" Neil scolded his younger brother.
Neil was surprised to hear the mention of his tribe’s name from the other side. It had been over ten years since their planet was invaded by the Zerg tribe. The name Brown Rat Tribe was now known to very few people.
But that was not important.
Neil narrowed his eyes dangerously and stepped in front of the group of people. "We are interstellar bandits. It would be wise for you to hand over whatever you have on you today. Perhaps we could show some mercy and let you live…" "Don’t worry," Arnold said to Fu Yue, "These Brown Rat Tribe members were defeated by the Zerg tribe a long time ago."
They are just remnants without the support of a country or power behind them, so eliminating them is as easy as pie.
Fu Yue felt the confidence and calmness in Arnold’s words, and she immediately straightened her back and whispered to the enemy, "Do you know who you’ve captured? Standing before you is Arnold, the ruthless general of the Kurds!"
The group of people opposite to them looked at each other as if they heard a funny joke, then burst into mocking laughter.
A man named Aer from the other side arrogantly said, "Don’t make me laugh. Which general would personally pilot this small spacecraft without even a patrol ship by his side? Do you think we’re still in the primitive era from thirty thousand years ago?"
Fu Yue actually found some truth in what the other side was saying for a moment.
Though she always thought Arnold was a bit too nonchalant. Even though her family was fully automated, the lack of even a butler made her wonder.
But today, being denied recognition because of his casual demeanor made her feel that the general was a bit of a failure… well, a bit too humble perhaps. Fu Yue softly patted Arnold’s back out of sight, trying to comfort him.
Despite being surrounded and ridiculed, Arnold showed no emotion, but when he received sympathy from Fu Yue, he stiffly trembled.
Just then, after closely examining them, the other side confidently declared, "We’ve seen people like you before. Judging by your plain protective suits, you must be descendants of the Zerg tribe from remote areas with delusions of grandeur. Weak in power, yet still eager to fight."
Fu Yue found that when she thought about it, this statement was actually a subtle compliment to her sophistication. For a moment, she didn’t feel like arguing back.
"Next to you, this female is your …" Neil wanted to say mate, but looking at the unimpressed face of this male, he silently rejected his own guess in his heart.
"She must be your relative!"
Fu Yue nodded in agreement on the side: Hmm… It seems that normal people don’t believe Arnold has a mate by his side.
After making his judgment, he made a decision with a big wave of his hand, "Take the two of them to the dungeon, have someone watch over them. Spread vague messages secretly and wait for someone to come and ransom them."
Then two people proficiently approached holding tools to bind hands and feet.
Fu Yue breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that they were just being held temporarily as hostages. This indicated that they wouldn’t be killed immediately at least for now.
So she cooperatively stretched out both hands, matching the actions of the person opposite her.
Suddenly, the person from the Brown Rat Tribe in front of her twitched his nose. Then he made a sound of surprise as if he had discovered a new land, "Your flesh smells so good!"
Afraid others wouldn’t hear, he turned his head and shouted loudly to his brothers behind him, "The flesh of this Zerg tribe must be delicious!"
Fu Yue felt anxious, about to speak, when Arnold spoke first, "If you eat her, you won’t get more than half of the ransom."
Neil came over at that moment too, hitting his henchman hard on the head for the hefty ransom, "Stop causing trouble, tie her up and take her away quickly."
Well done!
Fu Yue and Arnold were taken to the entrance of a small room like this, pushed to the ground directly, Fu Yue heard the sound of the door closing.
Leaning against the wall with difficulty, Fu Yue immediately apologized to Arnold, "I’m sorry, General."
The reason is actually very simple. Fu Yue had already figured it out when walking over.
After all, she had watched the recorded videos of Arnold fighting.
The general in front of her could tear apart a huge armored bug just like tearing apart enemies with his hands. He could walk calmly and orderly in a hail of bullets as if strolling in his own backyard.
Up to now, he still hadn’t dealt with the enemy, it’s obvious it must be because of himself.
Because she was too weak. She was the kind of person who would die with one gunshot or one cut from a knife.
The silly officer in front of her was not compromising with the enemy, but with her.
"I have burdened you."
