Chapter 2
Fu Yue was so surprised by the sudden news that she accidentally spilled hot milk all over her sleeve.
"Ouch!" as the milk quickly soaked into her clothes, causing Fu Yue’s voice to change tone.
Before she could think about dealing with the sleeve issue, the person across from her had already made a habitual misunderstanding.
[Escape? I suggest you not make such an irrational decision here.] Although the man’s words still sounded gentle, his tone was now slightly colder. Fu Yue subtly sensed from his voice the underlying meaning of "everyone seems to love taking risks.
Then the man proceeded to explain to Fu Yue in a robotic manner, "[Since you were chosen, we have been monitoring your phone in real-time. And, two hours ago, we quickly located your exact position through tracking and dispatched at least three professional trackers to confirm your movements.] After a brief pause, the man on the other side gave his conclusion.
"[So, you are already in our control.] After hearing the explanation, Fu Yue immediately felt a tense atmosphere around her. She stopped wiping her sleeve, hurriedly leaned against the window, looking left and right, trying to find any traces of being watched.
The man on the phone also offered some help, "[Since it seems you want to find the trackers, I suggest you take a look at the top floor of the building across the street.] "No need to trouble yourself…" Actually, you just vividly explained what being "watched every move" means, thank you.
Fu Yue raised her hand and tapped the glass twice, and the transparent glass instantly fogged up. In that split moment of blurred vision, she unfortunately caught sight of an unusual glass reflection on the opposite building’s rooftop, rotating back and forth facing her position, asserting its presence.
Everyone said it’s not necessary, why be so polite!
The tenor voice on the phone was still clear and decisive.
[Whether you escape or not will not affect the fact that you will eventually become a visitor. The most important thing is, if you choose to escape… then the full free medical treatment and generous monthly living allowance that your parents should have enjoyed will be cancelled.]"What?" Is there such a good thing?
Hearing Fu Yue’s question, the man seemed to have finally caught his opponent’s weakness. He put down the whip and took out candies instead.
His voice softened once again.
[Yes, this is one of the preferential policies we offer to those selected to participate in this visit.]"….then I volunteer." Being practical like her, since there’s no way out anyway, it’s more profitable to secure more benefits for her family.
[Ms. Fu Yue is truly understanding! As the facade of this planet, we sincerely hope that the friendly visitors to the Zerg tribe will have a positive attitude.]Through the phone, Fu Yue could feel his joy from his relaxed tone. Perhaps realizing his own mistake, he cleared his throat slightly, adjusting his speech speed.
[Time is of the essence, the car to pick up Ms. Fu Yue is already parked downstairs. Please fulfill your promise and cooperate actively for the smooth progress of the visit. If there are any issues, you can communicate directly with the service staff in the car. Well then, Madam, I shall take my leave.]Once she confirmed the call had ended, Fu Yue sat down heavily on the chair. She covered her face with her hands, trying hard to make sense of this magical reality.
Chu Manni, who was beside this dear friend, couldn’t bear it any longer. Since Fu Yue answered the phone, she had been performing a series of amazing actions in front of her, such as curling her hair, nervously looking around, and leaning against the window to watch the world.
The expression on her face changed from surprise to despair, then to a final acceptance and confusion. The variety of emotions made it difficult for Chu Manni to gather any useful information from her facial expression.
"What’s wrong, Fu Yue?" she signaled with curiosity.
"Well… I have a blind date that I can’t refuse coming up next, the car is already waiting downstairs, so I have to go now. Could you please visit my parents tonight?" Fu Yue spoke with a muffled voice through her fingers.
"Oh… Does the impact of a weekday blind date have that much influence on Fu Yue?"
Watching Fu Yue unsteadily get up and walk out the door, Chu Manni kindly reminded her, "Cheer up, silly girl, maybe a handsome and wealthy man you’ve never dreamed of will come. It could solve all the problems for your family in an instant!"
Fu Yue gestured with her hand towards the back, indicating that she heard, grabbed her bag and walked out. As she casually closed the door, it separated her and Chu Manni into two different worlds.
Taking the high-speed elevator down, indeed as soon as she arrived at the entrance, she saw three very luxurious cars lined up neatly in front of her.
There were people in suits standing at the car doors, and as they saw her coming, they immediately opened the doors, smiled, and bowed to invite her in.
Fu Yue glanced at the door that wasn’t opened nearby, the shiny reflection on the closed car windows revealed a man who looked like he had just come out of a trash can, his sleeves still dripping with milk.
She lifted her head and glanced at the young man smiling as he opened the car door. His customer service skills were excellent.
After about an hour and a half on the car, Fu Yue then took a private plane for a day and a night. Finally, she arrived at her destination – a very high-tech looking place.
She could only come up with these words to describe it. The exterior design of this place was unique, with towering silver reflective towers reaching into the sky, unlike any architectural style she had ever seen before.
It stood out conspicuously in the middle of this desert area.
Walking inside the building, even Fu Yue, who studied interior design, couldn’t describe or explain the structure and purpose of the things inside. Before she could appreciate it, Fu Yue and another young man who had arrived with her were already escorted by four suit-wearing staff into a round-shaped hall.
There were five people standing with their backs to them inside, and on a slightly elevated platform in front, a man was facing them. With a smile in a voice familiar to Fu Yue, he announced to everyone, "The total number of visitors this time is seven, and everyone has arrived."
"You must be the grandson who made the call! I’ve said that I didn’t sign up voluntarily, can’t you understand that I was set up!" The young man standing next to Fu Yue broke free from the staff and rushed onto the stage, attempting to grab the man’s collar to argue.
The man reacted quickly, before Fu Yue could see clearly what he did, the young man was already subdued, face down on the ground.
But where there is oppression, there is resistance.
Among the remaining five people, a girl with a teary voice spoke up, "I want to go home…" The others were also encouraged by the boy’s rebellious spirit and began to voice their own reasons.
"Let’s not count the consequences of a mistake in control…" "That little sneak tried to steal my fiancé!"
Two foreigners were also gesturing in a language Fu Yue couldn’t understand, joining the resistance group.
Looking at the sparse protest in front of her, she realized she was the only one who volunteered to join.
Ignoring the complaints from the audience below, the man smiled, snapped his fingers in the air, and immediately a row of people orderly rushed in, suppressing the boy and leading him to a spot designated by the man.
It was only then that Fu Yue noticed the six spots where the people stood were in fixed gray areas with a diameter of two meters.
The other six people had already taken their places, so Fu Yue stood in the vacant spot. As she stepped into the gray area, she felt like her feet were stuck and couldn’t move an inch.
Looking up at the stage, Fu Yue noticed the man giving her a grateful wink.
Oh, now she understood a bit why the boy wanted to hit him earlier.
"Now I will give you all a basic guidebook about the Zerg tribe, so you can blend into their life on the alien planet better and faster." The man clapped his hands and seven men in suits handed out the books to them.
After taking the book, Fu Yue found that the paper felt very magical. It was like leather and a glass screen at the same time, and the craftsmanship was very exquisite.
Just as she was about to flip through to see the content, the girl who was making noise next to her threw the book open to the side and collapsed on the ground, crying loudly, "This kind of thing… this kind of thing… can’t be used for communication at all…" OK, Fine.
Wisely, Fu Yue immediately closed the book with both hands heavily, fully embodying her spirit of "not seeing = not knowing".
"Everyone has received what they needed, and the timing is just right. So, I sincerely wish you all a pleasant journey!" The man on stage clapped three times gracefully this time, bowed elegantly to the audience, and then smiled as he slowly walked out of the room.
Then Fu Yue heard the sound of a machine running, even though there was nothing around.
"Oh, what’s that on top!" The boy who had been grumbling before now had a hint of fear in his tone.
Fu Yue looked up and saw a device similar to a cylindrical glass cup coming down upside down.
Its shape looked like a futuristic nutrient pod from a sci-fi movie, and the area covered by it happened to match the gray space where they were standing.
When her feet were finally free again, Fu Yue watched helplessly as she was tightly covered by a "glass cup".
But the frightening thing was just beginning.
Inside the glass chamber, it started to rain, the "rainwater" slowly rising past Fu Yue’s legs, stomach, neck… until Fu Yue could only breathe by swimming to reach a bit of air.
Eventually, the whole chamber filled with liquid, leaving Fu Yue no choice but to futilely tap on the glass.
"What a pleasant journey, it should be called a deadly delight!" Fu Yue thought fiercely before all the air in her lungs was pushed out.
Then, everything went black before her mind was engulfed in endless darkness.
She didn’t realize she had crossed the entire galaxy in the cultivation chamber, even reaching another region of the universe beyond the Virgo Supercluster.
————————————-Fu Yue suddenly opened her eyes wide and sat up.
"Huff…huff…" She was clearly still trapped in the suffocating feeling from a second ago. As she gasped for air, in that moment, she felt very grateful to the heavens for giving her a chance to start anew.
After catching her breath, Fu Yue looked up and saw a pair of very beautiful red eyes.
