Chapter 69: Troublesome to Eat, Not Even Two Ounces of Meat, Feels Like a Loss
“After this Time of the End, I should advance to ‘Great Demon.’”
A demon general stood proudly at the bow of the “Demon Ark,” watching the enormous vessel cut through waves toward the distant battlefield.
The demons aboard shared his ambition; not only had they received hefty commissions from “core councilor of chaos” Wabla, but battlefield merits in this Great Battle of the Time of the End could elevate them further.
“Perhaps advancement isn’t hindered by combat—that outcome’s already certain.”
To all demons, Wabla had invested everything into recruiting this formidable demon legion for the Time of the End. Unlike cannon fodder from previous three arks, this elite force was the trump card. Their landing would decide the war.
As for the sea voyage…
“Ha! Nothing could go wrong. Impossible!”
“The Demon Ark boasts superb underwater defenses—its Divine Body practically exists for this purpose!”
“And above…”
The demon general lifted his gaze skyward.
“Buzz—!”
“Buzz—!”
Giant translucent wings thrummed as colossal flying forms escorted the Demon Arks.
Tens of thousands of clustered eyes formed massive orbs. Complex proboscises bristled with coarse spikes and barbs, while segmented limbs ended in fearsome hooks!
These beings radiated menace!
“Outer Gods from the Void!”
Unlike tentacled Outer Gods dwelling in the Primal Mud and etheric liquid depths, these soared through the void above the primal sludge.
They occasionally docked at Subspace’s outer layers to rest, maintaining close ties with Chaos Demon Gods. Some even joined the Chaos Council as highly ranked “middle councilors.”
“Though lacking oceanic attack capability, these Void Outer Gods dominate the skies!”
“Lord Wabla clearly prioritized aerial defenses.”
“Does Order possess powerful Flying Deities or air forces?”
…
After brief reflection, the demon general abandoned the thought.
His focus shifted to equally ambitious demon comrades.
“My true obstacle…”
“…is my colleagues.”
Backstabbing and betrayal were demon staples—practiced eagerly from the twelve core councilors down to the lowliest Demon Child.
Successful, undetected schemers faced no punishment—only encouragement.
“On the battlefield, I must strike first…”
As the demon general plotted against his peers, the Demon Ark shuddered with an ominous sound.
“Eh?”
“Ah——!”
Many demons tumbled down; some standing too close to the edge fell right into the sea!
Among them was the ambitious demon general.
“Splash——!”
He plunged into the water.
But then…
“Crash——!”
A giant wave surged up!
The sea surface burst outward, sending huge splashes shooting up a hundred meters high!
Even the huge Demon Ark, big as a castle, could no longer stay steady on the sea; it rocked up and down in the rough waves.
The unlucky demon general who fell in soared into the air with the spray.
He looked down…
“Oh my god!”
The demon’s fierce eyes widened in terror!
At the same height as him and the other unlucky creatures was a colossal being!
It was so huge that a hundred meters was only half its head height!
And it kept rising higher and higher!
But even at nearly five hundred meters, only the front of this colossal creature broke the sea surface.
“Crash…”
Water poured down from the giant like a waterfall, soaking the ark.
“Ah——!”
“No!”
The demons hit by the water felt like they were burning, writhing in pain.
The chaotic Magic Power inside them shook and faded, and their flesh burned and rotted in the falling “sacred water”!
But their bad luck didn’t end there!
“Buzz…”
The colossal creature reached its peak, slowly tilting down, and its huge fins scraped its scales, making a thunderous roar!
Then…
“Boom——!”
It crashed down onto the Demon Ark!
“Zing——!”
The Demon Ark cried out in pain, but it was no use.
His tentacles could only deal with enemies beneath the sea, while attackers leaping from the water…
Were utterly defenseless!
The Outer Gods from the Void bravely assaulted the colossal creature, yet…
“Zzzzt——!”
Terrified shrieks filled the air. The Outer Gods were dwarfed by the behemoth. Violent air currents stirred by its massive body hurled them into the ocean.
“Crash——!”
The colossal creature plunged back into the sea, churning the waters like a boiling cauldron.
The Demon Arks, sailing in tight formation, pitched helplessly once more.
Both the demons and the Demon Arks themselves wailed in despair.
Some pathetic souls even began begging for mercy.
“Spare us!”
“What kind of monster is this!? It doesn’t seem like an Order Deity!?”
“Why interfere with us!? We bear you no grudge!?”
It was futile.
The monster understood no sympathy for demons, nor any mercy. It seemed filled with hatred for the chaos deity!
“Splash——!”
Less than ten minutes later, it breached the surface again and slammed down onto another Demon Ark.
Wipe them out completely!

“Om nom… Om nom…”
“Quite tasty, really…”
Trilobite feasted on belemnites at the ocean floor.
His hunting tactic was to surge upwards beside the belemnites, biting down fiercely and crushing them from above.
This dodged their troublesome tentacles and struck their vital spots directly!
Extremely effective.
The belemnites on the surface were completely wiped out.
Symbiotic plankton scattered everywhere in the sea.
His spawn, the trilobites, were delighted. They darted up and down, thinning the swarms of “red dots” in the water.
A few large “flying insects” still circled above the sea, powerless against underwater targets.
Several were even dragged beneath the waves by Trilobite’s body and now rested in his stomach.
But, Trilobite ate mostly sea belemnites.
“Tasty, yes… just a pity…”
“This thing’s got too little meat… barely fills you up…”
Nobody’s ever eaten belemnites, an extinct creature. Truth is, eating these is like chewing coral—scarcely two ounces of meat on them.
The tentacles’ hard shaft-like stems were inedible. Trilobite just sucked off the small meaty tentacles clinging to the stems before spitting them out.
Messy work, but the taste proved surprisingly fresh—like shrimp paste.
“Hmm… too little meat, too much bone. Feels like a bad deal.”
“Good thing insects pack more meat. High protein too. Solid.”
After finishing a feast starring belemnites with mystery flying insects as sides, Trilobite slowly lowered his true finned fish-shaped body back into the water.
His tail fin swayed gently as he drifted slowly forward.
“Full belly means no heavy exercise.”
“Gotta take it easy awhile.”
Unaware to Trilobite, his big meal had thrown certain beings into utter turmoil.
—-
“What now!? What now!?”
“Exposed! Totally exposed!”
Three blood octopus Outer Gods darted frantically across the seafloor, the ear blades above their foreheads flapping nonstop.
“Big Scary Fish ate Wabla’s fleet! Gobbled it all! Every bit!”
“Wabla knows Big Scary Fish lives! Knows it!”
“He knows! We can’t trick him now! Can’t fool him!”
…
Yet after several anxious loops, their eyes sparked.
“But! But! We got fish skin! Got the skin!”
“Just say… say… we killed Big Scary Fish! Finished it off!”
“Skinned it too! Peeled it clean!”
“Big Scary Fish swims slow anyway! Real slow!”
“One last scam on Wabla before Big Scary Fish shows! Last one!”
The plan won instant agreement from all!
“Yes! Yes!”
“Wabla lives or dies? Not our problem! Not our worry!”
“Point is! Point is! Scam what we can! Take whatever we get!”
