Chapter 5: How Can We Defeat Chaos with This Bunch of Insects?
The Chaos side seemed to fall into temporary confusion after Andumali’s sudden death, giving the rebel mobile city a much-needed break.
Seizing this rare chance, Sulya’s proposal was quickly put into action.
The mobile city "Dagon" from the Seventh Branch finally joined forces with "Neptune" and "Hydra" from the Third Branch, and "Yam" from the Tenth Branch.
The mobile cities, looking like giant hermit crabs, moved close together while keeping watch.
Top leaders from each branch gathered in the open-air meeting room on the roof of the mobile city "Neptune" for a combat session.
The residents of the mobile cities had long changed themselves into "ocean people" to live in the sea, so holding a meeting underwater was no problem.
The main talk was about breaking through the chaos fortress blocking the three branches.
But the meeting didn’t go well.
“No way, that fortress was made from a Chaos God who lost its godhood; it’s hard to beat; elite demons guard it, and the defenses are super strong.”
“Yeah, facing such an enemy, any tactics we use would cost too many lives and not be worth it!”
“Plus, the construct army isn’t done with repairs; attacking now would be tough.”
…
That was how things stood.
Share resources? Fine!
Send troops? No way!
Except for Sulya’s Seventh Branch, the Third and Tenth Branches wanted to save their strength.
The one who just spoke was a high-up from the Tenth Branch, hiding their fear with flimsy excuses, but that was almost polite.
Because the deputy minister of the Third Branch didn’t even give reasons.
“This is impossible.”
The good-looking blond deputy minister of the Third Branch shook his head and waved his hand, refusing without explanation.
Sulya couldn’t hold back her anger.
“The Giant God left three more ‘divine grace mounds’ along the path, and they point right to the chaos fortress!”
“We gathered fuel and dug up resources from those ‘divine grace mounds’ to get here, making us much stronger!”
“I shared the resources with you all fairly!”
“With these god-given resources, your power isn’t weaker—it’s grown a lot! If we unite under the great ‘Good God’s’ watch, we can surely…”
…
“Pfft, ha ha ha…”
Sulya’s words were cut off by harsh laughter.
“Sorry, I couldn’t help it.”
The deputy minister of the Third Branch waved his hand.
“That god you talk about, only your Seventh Branch has seen it; whether it’s real, no one knows.”
“That several mounds of fuel and materials did exist, but to insist they had been left by a god was too far-fetched.”
Indeed, though several human cities were located within this ocean basin, the basin was vast; and only the Seventh Branch, responsible for the rear guard, had encountered the Giant God and witnessed that unprecedented divine battle.
“Moreover, I seriously doubt this so-called ‘god’ your Seventh Branch worships.”
Sulya caught the deputy minister’s insinuation and frowned.
“What do you mean?”
The Third Branch’s deputy minister sneered. “I heard the Chaos God Andumali appeared briefly.”
“Perhaps your ‘Giant God’ was just another trick by the cunning Andumali.”
“He lured us to attack a well-defended fortress—making us slam headfirst into a brick wall!”
The female knight suddenly realized agreeing to hold this meeting in the Third Branch’s mobile city “Neptune” was a grave mistake; they’d come prepared.
Even the executioners stood ready!
*Thud, thud, thud…*
Footsteps echoed as a dozen ocean people warriors in individual constructs surrounded the meeting terrace.
“What are you doing!?”
Sulya narrowed her eyes furiously.
The deputy minister waved a dismissive hand. “Stay calm. I merely suspect the Chaos God’s influence has clouded your judgment, driving you to propose that suicidal plan!”
“You may not be a traitor, but you need treatment.”
“Lady Sulya, you ought to recuperate in Neptune’s medical facility for a while.”
“Wouldn’t that be best?”
Everything spiraled toward disaster.
Tenth Division bureaucrats joined the chorus:
“Lady Sulya, heed the advice—an examination won’t harm you.”
“Such a reckless plan! Rest and reflection would do you good.”
“Hah! Inventing a ‘new deity’ out of thin air… you’re clearly unwell.”
Suddenly, Sulya faced a barrage of accusations.
Their criticism sparked her furious laughter.
“Ha!”
“How could we defeat Chaos alongside maggots like you?”
Colossal power gathered in her fists.
She readied herself to slaughter them all!
Just as Miss Knight prepared to deliver divine iron fists to each insect…
“Boom—Boom—Boom—!”
Thunderous roars erupted around the mobile city-state, shaking the ocean floor and making the city sway violently. People on the top terrace could barely stand.
“What’s happening?”
The higher-ups, busy criticizing Sulya, looked curiously to the left, where the tremors came from.
In the next second, their curious expressions froze into fear.
“Boom—!”
A furious current suddenly swept across the terrace!
“Ah? Help ah ah ah…”
“No—!”
Several high-ranking officials who had blamed Sulya were swept away by the current, their screams echoing with a Doppler effect.
Sulya and the few remaining officials reacted fast, grabbing the railing to avoid the same fate.
“Boom—Boom—Boom—!”
With the loud noises and raging water, a colossal beast, many times bigger than the mobile city, appeared before them. Its cold, steel-like armor almost hid everything in sight.
It swung its tail fin and swam forward near the ocean floor.
Its huge gill openings opened and closed, spewing warm, fierce currents.
The unlucky officials had likely been washed away by water from the gill openings.
When the Giant God descended, every move could cause destruction!
“Too… too magnificent!”
“Is this really a god?”
“Oh my, the Giant God truly exists!”
The crowd gazed at the giant beast’s grandeur, even forgetting their fear.
But soon, a scream broke everyone’s focus.
“Ugh—ah ah ah ah—!”
The deputy minister of the Third Branch cried out in pain.
The sweeping current burned through his skin, showing a dirty, twisted face under his human mask!
“You are a demon!?”
Sulya pointed at the deputy minister, shouting loudly.
“The great god has descended!”
“He has personally torn apart your disguises!”
