Chapter 45: Great White Shark Hunts Seals!
“Splash…”
“Splash…”
On the vast blue ocean, a fleet was sailing.
But it wasn’t an ordinary fleet—it was a “sea beast fleet”!
“Roar—!”
“Ugh—!”
Huge sea beasts, hundreds of meters long, swam on the water’s surface.
They weren’t giant whales but strange creatures much bigger than whales and very different.
These creatures had all-black bodies, flat and wide like a huge “cloth,” without any fins or tails like whales or fish.
Still, they could swim in the ocean.
A part like a “fringe” on one side of their bodies moved up and down, pushing the whole “battleship” forward.
This odd way of swimming was surprisingly fast and smooth.
Their heads seemed to have no eyes, but two long antennae stuck out high; these were their magic sensors, which could feel the magnetic field and magic signals of their destination.
Of course, they could also be used to talk with the priests who controlled them.
On the backs of these snails, a special magic paint showed a pattern—seahorses swimming in the sea.
This was the “giant beast battleship” of the sea god assembly.
But the most amazing thing wasn’t that the sea god assembly had such huge beasts—it was what they were carrying: military supplies and…
hateful demons!
“Ha… Ha… Ha…”
“Thanks to His Excellency the sea god for turning away from the dark.”
“And thanks for your great sea beasts.”
“Now, this batch of military supplies can go to the demon legion at the front!”
A scary demon general walked around the giant ship; the sulfuric smell from his nostrils dirtied the air. But he didn’t look like his bloodthirsty demons.
He was taller than normal “bloodthirsty demons,” about 1.5 times their size, but covered in fat, like a bloated man.
Everyone had to listen quietly to him, whether they were bloodthirsty demons or the Sea God High Priest.
Sometimes, they gave flattering replies.
“Of course.”
The Sea God High Priest bowed and answered humbly.
“With my god’s wisdom, I see the trends in the Crystal Walls clearly.”
“I just hope you chaotic ones don’t forget…”
Then came the details of the dirty and evil deals.
It turned out that the sea god had completely betrayed the Order Gods and even fully abandoned this world. He was teaming up with chaos to plunge the entire world into the abyss of destruction!
Perhaps he wouldn’t remain the sea god afterward.
But chaos would transform him into a Chaos deity, promising him a seat in the "Chaos Council."
His elite followers would also become chaotic creatures and demons to gain immortality!
This time, the Sea God High Priest was carrying out a joint mission, sailing from chaos-occupied lands to deliver supplies to the demon legion stranded by the coast.
"Very well."
"Seems this voyage is smooth sailing."
"Speaking of which, that ‘Saltwater Queen, Albert Drake’ won’t trouble us again, will she?"
"Last time, supplies we shipped via the sea god assembly’s vessel got stolen by that ‘Saltwater Queen’!"
"No explanation worked—she executed the demonified captain and accompanying demon chieftain for ‘dishonoring the sea god and aiding chaos’!"
"That vicious woman doesn’t even heed her own church!"
The High Priest shook his head decisively.
"Not this time!"
"Albert Drake’s been imprisoned by our deity over some… issues."
"Probably tortured beyond recognition by now."
"Heh, quite the firebrand. Wonder who got to enjoy that…"
Just as the High Priest’s thoughts grew vulgar…
"Gods below…"
"Beneath us! In the depths!"
"What is that?!"
The Priest steering the sea beasts screamed in terror, shattering the High Priest’s fantasy and fueling his rage.
"What now?!"
"Stop panicking over—"
His words died in his throat.
The following demon general froze at the sight.
*Thump…*
His fleshy rear hit the sea beast’s back!
What could terrify a demon so? An unsettling vision rising beneath the fleet…
A monstrous shadow ascended from the seabed, blanketing the waters and dyeing the sea beneath the giant beast deep gray!
—-
"Hmm…"
"What’s that?"
Trilobite moved his “flesh fin soft-bodied shark” body, swimming quickly through the sea.
Like a Great White Shark lying in wait, he watched the unsuspecting seals.
“Whoosh—!”
His caudal fin swung, and his body rocked.
He slowed down and gradually moved toward the water’s surface.
Like a piece of driftwood slowly rising.
“Good!”
“Now at hunting distance!”
He carefully watched the creatures on the surface.
To be honest, Trilobite felt a bit surprised to find these beings here.
“Hmm…”
“If I’m not mistaken, isn’t that a sea bunny?!”
“Uh… it appeared unexpectedly early.”
The sea bunny, also known as a sea slug, was a species found widely in the oceans.
Though these creatures had “bunny” or “slug” in their names, they had nothing to do with actual rabbits.
In fact, they were more distantly related to slugs, which also belonged to the soft-bodied animals.
Instead, they were closer to snails.
But they had lost their hard shells and developed soft inner shells; this was similar to squids.
They often swam in a graceful yet odd way on the ocean surface, flapping their flesh wings or skirt edges; sometimes people even mistook them for alien creatures.
The two short, thick antennas sticking out from their heads looked like rabbit ears, which was why they were called “sea bunnies.”
“Ah, it wasn’t surprising after all.”
“Soft-bodied animals and echinoderms like these were usually ancient, so being around for hundreds of millions of years wasn’t strange.”
“They should be edible…”
Trilobite had heard sea bunnies were toxic.
But sharks had very sharp senses, and if the creature held any poison, his olfactory membranes should have warned him ahead.
Yet, that warning didn’t come!
Instead…
“The prey showed up in system vision…”
“Orange!”
“Holding Chaos Energy!”
“Then…”
“Eat—!”
His streamlined divine body lunged toward the surface like a ballistic missile about to break the water!
“Whoosh—!”
Though his pectoral and pelvic fins had been "transformed" into flesh-like structures that seemed a bit clumsy, they mainly helped with balance and didn’t slow his speed or agility much.
At least, they didn’t stop Trilobite from hunting the sluggish prey near the surface.
“Chomp—!”
“Ah—ooh—!”
“Thud—!”
Trilobite’s huge head burst through the water. His giant jaws snapped fiercely onto a sea bunny, swallowing it whole.
—-
“NO—!”
As the High Priest wailed…
“Boom—!”
A massive wave exploded from the fleet’s center!
The sea beast in the middle got clamped hard from below by giant jaws.
That colossal creature—twice the size of the biggest transport ship—was still shorter than those jaws.
“Roooar…”
The enormous head thrashed side to side, shaking the struggling sea beast wildly!
Seawater boiled as the terrifying jaws moved, churning up waves fiercer than any hurricane.
“Boom—!”
The huge head gulped down the sea beast, then plunged back into the sea, stirring another tidal wave.
“NO—!”
“Ah!”
“Help! I can’t swim!”
The whole fleet fell into chaos from the giant beast’s strike.
Countless chaotic demons and chaos-aligned humans tumbled into the water.
The remaining sea beasts sped up, ignoring Sea God Agor’s orders, desperate to flee.
But…
“Boom—!”
The massive dorsal fin resurfaced.
Clearly, the hulking predator wasn’t done with them.
Its mountain-sized head rose from the waves, abyss-like jaws gaping wide. The upper jaw—like a small island—cast a long shadow over the sea beast’s back!
