Chapter 31: The New Operating Method of the Chaos Demon God—Outsourcing
“Boom—!”
“Boom—!”
The entire crater at the exit of the City of Dimensions was trembling!
Only the actions of a deity could cause such violent shaking across the ocean floor…
The “rebirth” and “ascension” of a god!
As Sulya returned to the deity’s "City of Dimensions" with the Solar Knights and the Old Prophet aboard the battered "Giant God’s Radiance," they witnessed an incredibly spectacular scene at the entrance!
“Truly… magnificent!”
…
Before the eyes of the Old Prophet and Sulya, a colossal “deity’s Bone Fragment”—even mightier than the "Giant God’s Radiance"—slowly descended from above. It blotted out the entire “sky” over the ocean before crashing onto the seabed with a thunderous “Boom”!
“Boom—!”
The ocean floor shuddered violently again, churning up furious currents that whipped sand and stones into a frenzy.
But this was only the beginning!
“Craaack—groan—craaack—”
The Giant God’s enormous body trembled relentlessly as fissures spiderwebbed across His head.
Finally…
“Boom—!”
The colossal fish shook its head violently, flinging off the armor encasing it.
Strangely, this didn’t resemble molting, which would’ve scattered Bone Fragments everywhere. Instead, it looked exactly like removing a helmet.
Apart from a few stray Bone Fragments, the entire bony helm shielding the Giant God’s head detached in one piece!
“Thud—!”
“Boom—!”
This impact struck the seabed with even greater force than before!
“All units, brace for impact!”
“Urk…”
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
The collision of the massive “skull” whipped up seabed sediment into a towering wall of muddy sand—dozens of meters high!
It surged like an avalanche toward the abandoned city of the ocean people.
“Crash—!”
“Boom!”
A massive crashing sound erupted.
Buildings crumbled like sandcastles before a mudslide. Low houses vanished under debris, while taller structures had their lower floors swallowed.
As various scraps were swept out of the room, they floated on the ocean.
Luckily, Sulya saw the Giant God pushing all mining ships and battleships into the City of Dimensions as "the god’s will." The ocean people, who believed in the Giant God, boarded vehicles, gathered their belongings, left their new homes, and took refuge in the City of Dimensions.
Sulya’s "interpretation" saved all the ocean people from disaster.
"Surely, it is the merciful Giant God."
"To warn us useless followers early and keep us from harm."
Even though the battleship was swallowed by the mudslide from the falling "Giant God Bones," burying it in muddy sand, Sulya still knelt and prayed to the Giant God.
After all, thanks to the Giant God’s kind will, everyone survived.
As for those outside things…
The Giant God had given the ocean people many "divine grace mounds" and lots of "Divine Body fragments"; this endless energy and divine materials were worth far more than the scrap they left behind.
This was not just payback, but a gift!
The Old Prophet traveling with her also knelt.
Moved by the "Solar Knights" and seeing the Giant God’s power and generosity, he even started to believe in the "Giant God."
But as a prophet, he thought about his mistakes in his work.
"This… isn’t this the bones of the Giant God?"
Through the mud-covered cabin, the prophet looked at the sea and saw the huge bones!
The "Giant God’s Radiance" was big to humans, but tiny next to the Giant God or its "Exoskeleton."
For some reason, the prophet felt the ship facing the "Exoskeleton" was like a small worm before a big watermelon.
Just the giant jaws in the "Exoskeleton" could dock several "Giant God’s Radiance" ships!
Other deities in the primary material world had huge bodies, but proud ones never let humans get close; this prophet had never seen one so near before.
"So this is what the ‘bones’ in the prophecy meant; I was too shallow!"
"The deity hasn’t fallen; it is going through Reinvention!"
"What form will it have after Reinvention…"
The Old Prophet could barely picture how strong that would be.
"A deity like this, without magic, could handle a mid-level fighter in the Chaos Council."
"But…"
His face darkened.
"This time, the fallen one is the ‘back-row councilor,’ the Thunder Scorpion, Sankalabi."
"Chaos must take this seriously and see the ‘Giant God’ as a force to watch!"
"Things will only get harder!"
—-
The Old Prophet was right.
Or, if the chaos gods had any sense, they’d pay attention.
Sending two lowest rank members could still be overlooked.
Sending a bunch of “Seatless Ones” made it easy to dismiss them as insignificant.
Now, even a proper “back-row councilor” along with his subordinate officials had been lost, and this situation was getting serious.
However, the Chaotic Forces also had their hidden troubles—they lacked enough hands!
In the Zero Layer, a voice muttered to himself.
“Oh, how annoying.”
“Being a high-ranking Chaos Demon God, I was forced to clean up the Zero Domain and handle wiping out the newly rising deep-sea forces.”
“But I really couldn’t split myself in two!”
That was a deep, magnetic female voice.
It was enchanting, filled with a special allure.
Even his irritated and complaining tone had a unique charm, like a stunning beauty sulking.
It was said that anyone who heard him speak without casting filtering spells, whether a Chaos God or God of Order, would become his “dog.”
Of course, that was just “what they said.”
But this charming Chaos Demon God wasn’t just whining; he spoke the truth.
The Chaotic Forces had launched wars against multiple worlds at once, and this conflict dragged on, spreading too wide.
At the start of this “Black Expedition,” even the craftiest Chaos Demon God couldn’t have predicted the war would grow this big; he certainly didn’t expect a “somewhat threatening” force to pop up suddenly from the unnoticed ocean depths.
Now, the demon gods attacking on multiple fronts couldn’t send just one, or even two or three, back-row councilors to surround and crush the threat.
Because those sent might never return.
But dispatching too many risked hurting the main battlefronts.
On the front lines, especially where the deep sea was, the situation had shifted subtly.
A force worshipping the “sun” was on the rise.
They called themselves the “Solar Practitioners.”
These beings had powers that countered chaos and fought with wild, crazy zeal.
What outraged the demon gods more was that after battles, they killed every captured demon without mercy, using the heads to build skull displays to please the so-called “Sun Giant God.”
Their leader was a tall man named Glade, crazier than all the “Solar Practitioners.” On his bloody path of endless Sacrifice, he gained power matching a demigod.
In battle, he broke the silent pact between the God of Order and Chaos God, attacking and wounding a “Seatless One”!
With these practitioners so active, the demon gods had to step onto the field more often, sending their top demon army into the fray.
The chaos also riled up the Outer Gods, who loved stirring trouble.
They swarmed the battlefield in a frenzy, attacking randomly and turning the Black Expedition into a total mess.
The Chaotic Forces even had to pull some forces to handle the unpredictable Outer Gods, giving them headaches.
In short…
The war was too vast, draining the chaos side of manpower.
They ran short on commanders.
“If only those boastful, violent brutes listened to me and took worlds one by one patiently, this wouldn’t have happened!”
“Now the whole thing’s spread too thin and fallen apart!”
“So I could only… um…”
This high-ranking demon god suddenly hatched a “brilliant idea.”
“Why not offer five hundred ‘shards of divine rank’ and hire some Outer Gods for this dirty job?”
Shards of divine rank were the basic bits making up a deity’s power; like a god’s “flesh,” they could grow slowly and be split off.
Often, God’s War rules were more civilized, betting set amounts of “shards of divine rank.”
Many deities, on getting these shards, didn’t absorb them right away but stored them to trade for other needs.
Over time, shards of divine rank became the “currency” among gods.
Five hundred shards were indeed a “huge sum.”
Only mid-tier or higher Chaos deities could afford it.
“Hmph, anyway, I’ve got plenty of ‘cash.’”
“Aren’t there loads of Outer Gods who love causing chaos?”
“This way, I save time, finish the boring chore, and give those idler Outer Gods something to do.”
“It was a triple win!”
“Hmm, I must be a genius!”
But this demon god didn’t know his “genius” approach was called “outsourcing” back in Trilobite’s homeland.
