Chapter 20: Unknown Through Aeons of Bitter Cold, Famous Across the World in a Single Day!
"Another divine battle!?"
Fear flickered in Sulya’s eyes as she dealt with the aftermath of the divine war.
The "Hugging Worm," a colossal creature visible even to Trilobite’s pixelated gaze, was also clear to Sulya.
Remembering the devastation of the last divine battle, Sulya clenched her fists.
"Do those vile Chaos Gods intend to eradicate us completely!?"
"Damn it!"
Sulya’s fists tightened as helplessness washed over her.
"But I can’t waste energy raging here."
"Quick! Sound the magic horn now!"
"Get everyone to shelter in the mobile city!"
The horn’s mournful wail carried through the waters, reaching every ear. Craftsmen and warriors instantly followed emergency protocols, retreating orderly into the mobile city.
After purging corrupt officials and restructuring, efficiency had markedly improved.
Evacuation completed swiftly.
Yet Sulya stood firm.
As commander and warrior, she must lead from the front and retreat last!
This time, however, duty wasn’t her only motive.
"By the light…"
"What is… that?"
The Knight stood frozen, his pupils dilating with terror.
"What’s wrong, Commander?"
"You must seek shelter!"
"Hurry—"
Chief Scientist Icarus moved to pull the transfixed Sulya back.
Then he too froze.
"Great skies… what is that!?"
The Chaos God’s monstrous form thrashed its pincers in the ocean. Its protruding eyes scanned the depths, withering all life under its gaze.
Though devoted to the Solar Holy Light system, all except living saint Sulya suffered under the Chaos God’s corrupting influence.
Icarus dropped to one knee, gasping for breath.
Dread coiled in his heart—
not merely from the Chaos God’s aura.
The Giant God’s might had already blunted much of the Chaos deity’s power.
What truly terrified him were the horrific beings constantly emerging from around that Chaos God’s body!
One after another…
More massive Divine Bodies shed their disguises, revealing themselves from the seemingly empty ocean!
Countless Chaos Sea Dragons, Chaos constructs, and half-sea Beast Demons appeared in groups, showing the horror and endlessness of chaos!
"The Hugging Worm Dantalin!? And his seven subordinate officials!? Damn, there were so many demon legions!"
"Did he bring the entire army from hell’s ‘Zero Ring’!?"
"This…"
If an ordinary Order God had seen such a scene, they would have abandoned their followers and fled long ago.
After all, you could always find new followers, but if you fell, that was the end!
"So, what choice would our god make?"
"Would he also…?"
Even though their Giant God had performed well before, when faced with a life-and-death crisis…
It was hard to say what choice he would make.
"Hey, honestly, I wouldn’t blame him for whatever choice he made…"
"After all, as long as we survive, we can rebuild; perhaps that is our fate…"
As Icarus muttered to himself in frustration…
"What a fool… how could there be such a foolish god…"
The Grand Mentor Sulya knelt in the distance, her tears mingling with the seawater.
Icarus did not understand at first, but he soon knelt too.
This time, it wasn’t out of fear of Sulya’s authority or pressure—that was just outward obedience, not inner. Nor was it a transaction from thirst for the Giant God’s knowledge.
He was genuinely moved by the "Giant God."
"What a fool…"
Tears glistened in the eyes of the Chief Strategist, soon hidden by the colossal figure of the Giant God!
That perfect, giant fish-like body suddenly swung its tail fin!
"Whoosh—!"
The violent current swept in again, sweeping everything away!
Yet Sulya just planted her great sword into the ground and stood firm; Icarus also anchored himself with magic.
More and more Solar Knights braved the raging current, stepping out from the mobile city.
They wanted to witness the Giant God’s grace!
And what about the Giant God?
He raised his massive and powerful body, which looked utterly alone against the chaos army, like a lone hero facing trampling hooves.
This was like that popular online painting: would you rather be a coward your whole life, or a hero, even for just a few minutes!?
Sure enough…
"Whoosh—!"
The Giant God swung his caudal fin again and charged toward the overwhelmingly powerful chaotic legions.
He was unwavering!
Witnessing this, Sulya rose to her feet.
"Icarus."
The female knight commanded, "Prepare the speedboats and swift vessels. Evacuate the women, children, and some others."
"I shall fight alongside the Giant God."
Having spoken, Sulya stood tall. Her lithe yet powerful frame swayed as she strode toward the battle in form-fitting armor.
"No! I’m going too!"
Icarus roared, his voice thick with indignation.
Perhaps the deity he once worshipped had abandoned him.
Perhaps he had once scorned deities.
But when the Giant God shielded them, Icarus’s faith burned genuine!
"Amidst any despair, our god never forsakes us; even against crushing might, He shields us!"
"If He falls here, I’ll fall with Him!"
Sulya shook her head.
"Because you truly believe now, you must leave. Survive. Spread the god’s epic to the world."
"Let all know—not all gods harbor selfish traits! Not all treat their believers as worthless!"
"A god exists who’d sacrifice everything for his followers!"
"Go! That’s an order!"
Yet at that instant—
"Boom—!"
Deafening thunder shook the skies!
The Giant God had already clashed with the chaos gods!
—-
Unlike Sulya and Icarus’s assumptions, Trilobite held no noble thoughts of sacrifice or martyrdom.
Did one need such dramatics to enter a buffet?
He wasn’t becoming food—why play the part?
Plunging headlong into the chaotic legions, he collided violently with the leading dual-limbed aberrant bug!
"Bang—!"
"Ugh…"
The soft body of the odd creatures was no match for the shield-covered shield fish; its head was violently knocked back, nearly crushed into its torso.
Its insides suffered severe jolts.
A terrible dizziness and urge to vomit washed over it.
The entire world spun wildly, blurring into a terrible haze within its compound eyes.
The dual-limbed aberrant bug flipped over tragically, bubbling as it slowly sank, temporarily losing its combat ability.
In contrast, Trilobite fared much better.
Though one layer of his Ball Joint Armor cracked, it mattered little.
He barely slowed down, immediately charging forward, rampaging through his path.
"Ha—!"
His powerful jaw grew wide, snapping down fiercely at the approaching Obabbin sea scorpion!
"Bang—!"
"Hiss…"
The unfortunate Obabbin sea scorpion was bitten clean in half.
Its lower half, trailing a stream of blood, slowly sank to the ocean floor, while its upper half was clamped in the jaws of the initial Blunt-Toothed Macrocephalus.
Yet, this creature possessed surprising spirit; even bisected, it lashed the predator’s forehead with its snout, even gnawing with the mouthparts at its tip.
Sadly, such scraping damage stood no chance against Trilobite, still clad in nine layers of Ball Joint Armor.
Besides, even unshielded, the Obabbin sea scorpion’s bite likely wouldn’t have pained Trilobite.
Was the armor on the Blunt-Toothed Macrocephalus’s head just for show!?
"Ah woo… ah woo…"
The Obabbin sea scorpion was swallowed whole.
Following Obabbin sea scorpions paddled their leaf-like limbs, driven by an inexplicable fury, charging blindly toward Trilobite.
But facing the terrifying Giant God—twice their Length and eight times their weight—their fate was only to be overturned and shredded by the giant jaws!
"Ahhh!"
"No! Mercy!"
The screams of the chaos evil god echoed, the sea filling with shattered evil god corpses.
Thus, the advancing giant fish swiftly carved through the "strange prawn squad," meeting no worthy resistance.
Years of bitter hardship ignored, yet fame known across the world in a single day!
"Your era, strange prawns, is over!"
"Because I! The jawed fish species! Have arrived!"
"Oh right! And you all too!"
He opened his mouth wide, facing the "plankton squad" behind.
"Hiss—Suck—!"
The mouth of the initial Blunt-Toothed Macrocephalus generated a terrifying suction, effortlessly drawing every tiny red speck within the "system vision"—chaotic plankton he couldn’t be bothered with—straight into his maw.
He hardly needed to suck deliberately.
Even these "plankton" dared to "Flip the World Off," not fleeing but scrambling frantically toward Trilobite.
They practically threw themselves into his mouth!
"Whoosh—!"
Finally, Trilobite waved his tail, triumphantly piercing straight through the entire plankton horde.
The seawater, once thick and murky with "plankton," grew much "clearer."
The plankton could no longer swarm, scattering in disarray—patches here, patches there.
The jawed fish species was on a Mass Slaughter!
