Chapter 144: Better to Die for the Giant God than to Exist for Oneself!

“Jie—hahahaha—!”

“Don’t underestimate us chaos deities!”

“Especially one holding the Fourteenth Seat as a middle councilor of the Chaos Council!”

Ralekin clung to the outer surface of the Fantasy Tree of Subspace, coiled around it like a colossal giant!

Though his form wasn’t suited for fighting in etheric liquid, his high status granted him vast resources—including heaps of “Soul fragments.”

These “soul fragments” hired hordes of “larvae from the Outer Gods from the Void,” but most paid for far more valuable and powerful Ether Dragons.

Naturally, Ralekin couldn’t afford elite “Etheric Dragons,” yet “etheric serpents” swarmed to answer his call.

Lured by riches, over a dozen etheric serpents became his enforcers. Howling and twisting their slippery bodies, they scrambled through the narrow breach.

“Outer God larvae are practically ‘trash’—unworthy of godhood! They exist only as my cannon fodder!”

“Using cannon fodder to slaughter cannon fodder is perfect!”

“But my true trump card…”

As Ralekin’s triumphant voice rang out…

“Boom—!”

“Crash—!”

The nearly sealed net path gap tore open anew!

Two Large Heads of etheric serpents forced their way inside!

“Rooooaaar—!”

Their earth-shattering bellow shook the void!

“Gulp—chomp—!”

Giant jaws snapped shut on an engineer ship repairing the breach, crushing it viciously!

“Crunch—boom—!”

Metal shrieked before exploding violently!

After devouring several nearby engineer ships, their fangs gnawed at the net path wall.

“Thud—!”

“Wham—!”

Violent tremors erupted!

Silk threads painstakingly woven by engineer ships ripped away helplessly.

Though unbreakable from outside once repaired, the threads remained vulnerable from within!

“NO—!”

Albert Drake roared, thrusting her “second body”—the battleship Ether Queen—toward the etheric serpents. But…

“ROAR—!”

The etheric serpent charged fiercely toward her!

“Bang—!”

“Ugh…”

After the violent impact, Albert Drake staggered back.

Although enhanced by the Giant God, her size nearly doubled, but her spiny fish-shaped hull was still inadequate against the etheric serpent.

In size, she was at least half as big!

Still, that wasn’t the worst.

Many chunks of “ether mud” began crumbling from the net path’s upper wall.

Then…

The net path’s upper wall nearly blew apart!

“Swish—!”

Dozens of Etheric Dragons and even more etheric worms flooded through the breach!

Following them were more etheric worms and fierce Chaos Warships, all taking advantage of the chaos!

Once these creatures entered the net path, they began a frenzy, sweeping everything away.

The most active were the dozen or so etheric serpents.

They swung their tail fins, swimming fast through the etheric liquid.

While the etheric liquid interfered with magic, the etheric serpents, relying on their huge size, needed no magic at all!

“Whoosh—!”

A giant etheric serpent swung its tail, weaving back and forth in the net path.

“Boom!”

It crashed forward, causing huge explosions as it went.

Many battleships and destroyers were flung aside, smashed into the net path wall, and slid down like heaps of scrap metal.

The battleships, packed with human essence, were destroyed one by one by the etheric serpents, lower deities, using the most primitive and brutal ways!

However, these battleships were lucky, as they at least had whole bodies.

Those in the path of the etheric serpents fared worse; some were crushed into bits by the strong force field from the "serpent deity," while others were torn apart, their wreckage burning and flickering in the net path amid explosion flames.

The whole battlefield was like a human hell!

"There are too many of them!"

"The hull is badly damaged and can’t fight anymore!"

"Abandon ship!"

In the Soul Network, desperate shouts from battleship captains echoed everywhere, while the etheric liquid buzzed with the furious roars of etheric serpents.

But mortals didn’t quit the fight!

"Reinforcements are here!"

"Rock reports in! Ready for battle!"

"Holly Tree Dew reports in! Ready for battle!"

Even as etheric battleships were wrecked one after another, new ones kept pouring in like a bug swarm, rushing at the etheric worms and using mechanical limbs to latch onto them tight.

"Whoosh—!"

"Bang—!"

The mechanical Smashing Claw struck hard!

Combat limbs shone with cold light!

Maybe the battleship-level "Smashing Claw" and "Combat Limbs" did little harm to the Ether Dragons, but they worked against the weaker etheric worms.

Plus, even for Ether Dragons, it was awful to be mobbed by a swarm of bugs and constantly bashed by their powerful limbs.

Worse, those claws and limbs held the Holy Light from the Sun, a force feared by the Chaos Demon Gods, Outer Gods, and the evil Ether Dragons.

True, the Holy Light from the Sun hit chaos harder and was weaker against Outer Gods.

But "attribute suppression" still worked.

So, with mortals sacrificing themselves over and over, the advance of the Ether Dragons and Chaos Demon Gods slowed down!

"Roar—!"

The cries of these hateful gods echoed through the net path.

"Bastards! How dare you do this to me!"

An etheric serpent roared angrily.

It had turned "plump," the extra bulk from many human battleships gripping its body with their climbing limbs.

The battleships linked head-to-tail and resonated together, emitting a "Holy Light from the Sun" force field that neutralized and weakened the "etheric field" from the etheric serpent. They attacked like bees swarming a yellow jacket, constantly gnawing at the serpent with their combat claws and Smashing Claws!

It felt like a thousand ants were tormenting the etheric serpent with pain.

“Bastards! You will pay the price!”

“Roar—!”

The etheric serpent angrily slammed against the wall of the net path.

“Bang—!”

“Boom—!”

The battleships exploded one after another, but the blast flames and flying debris also caused serious harm to the etheric serpent!

However, worse things were coming for the etheric serpent.

“Holly Tree Leaf, Sunlight, Themis’ Light, Pride, and Silent are sunk!”

“Holly Tree Dew, Soaring Stars, Age of Bronze, Courage, and the eyes of the Giant God, move out now and take their spots!”

Sulya’s calm but cold command echoed in the Soul Network.

This meant death for these battleships.

Yet the crews showed no doubt.

“Great is the Giant God!”

“Praise the Giant God!”

“Go!”

“Better to die fighting chaos than to live for yourself!”

The captains and crews yelled their cries as they charged, gripping the etheric serpent tightly with their climbing limbs!

But soon, they blew apart into bits in the net path ether under the serpent’s wild hits.

Yet…

“Holly Tree Dew, Soaring Stars, Age of Bronze, Courage, and the eyes of the Giant God are sunk!”

“North Wind, Hercules, Crocodile, Justice, and Rage of the Giant God, move out now and take their spots!”

…

So, humans kept losing to the gods.

But they kept charging in, one after another!

Albert Drake, with blood on her mouth, bit fiercely like a madwoman, forcing the etheric serpent to back off in fear of the living saint.

“Do you see this!?”

“Chaos scum!”

“This is us! Mortals!”

“We will die! We will lose!”

“But we will never give up!”

The fearless declaration echoed through the net path.

Even Ralekin, who silently watched everything, was shocked and turned to look.

“How… is this possible!”

“These cowardly little fellows actually… actually…”

“But…”

Soon, a smile reappeared in the Chaos Demon God’s heart.

“I still had cards to play!”

“Go!”

“Second wave of etheric serpents!”

As soon as the Chaos Demon God finished speaking, the second wave of etheric serpents surged into the net path through the gap again.

“What!?”

Despair filled the hearts of Sulya and Albert Drake; they never expected that at this stage, chaos could still play such a trump card!
