Chapter 128: Ashen Knights, Solar Knights, evil god slayers, and death warriors

The battle reached a temporary pause.

The attack from the Outer Gods from the Void ended in retreat, and the "Giant God’s Tower" stood defended.

Yet Loseta, graced by divine favor and elevated to "Chosen Champion," remained frowning.

"This isn’t victory."

She concisely stated the battle’s true outcome.

"At least, not ours."

The Outer Gods roamed freely across Valaharl as through deserted lands; lookout posts everywhere detected their presence before being mercilessly destroyed.

The towering "Giant God’s Tower" also faced assault.

The earliest tower sustained damage, its defenders completely overwhelmed with heavy losses.

Fortunately, the towers seemed alive—quickly repairing themselves before resuming their spread of "balls of light" across the world.

Retribution came only on the peninsula housing the second cluster of "Giant God’s Towers."

There, Loseta and her evil god slayers shattered an Outer God’s eye at great cost. Though not fatal, the blow hindered its movements.

This god-slaying feat truly made Loseta the "Chosen Champion," earning the Valaharl people’s recognition through strength.

Later-arriving Giant Gods crushed the wounded deity and devoured it.

Whether from hidden schemes or Giant God-induced fear, the Outer Gods retreated.

"Victory belongs to the Giant God."

"Great is the Giant God."

Loseta touched her full chest in silent prayer, freeing herself from helpless defeat.

"A new shadow approaches."

"We must fight."

She lifted her gaze to the window.

Outside, an immense dark cloud advanced like a mountain-shattering hurricane.

"The Outer Gods gather."

"And…"

Valaharl’s mortal Champion gently set her construct’s right arm on the ground. Its vibration- and divinity-sensitive detectors could glean much from tremors.

"The enemy’s full assault begins."

Black clouds heralded the gathering Outer Gods; ground tremors spoke of the Chaos Demon God and his endless chaotic legions.

After the giants seized and reversed two "World Nails," the Chaotic Forces finally launched their final counterattack!

"Fortunately…"

"Tap… tap… tap…"

Her powered high heels pressed onward.

She walked through the tall corridor.

This was the fortress not far from the "Giant God’s Tower," once abandoned but now restored for military needs.

The first batch of support from Themis had finally arrived.

"Tap."

The sound of her powered high heels stopped as she reached a massive iron door.

This iron door was exquisitely forged and carved, featuring a giant oval-shaped being etched upon it.

It was said to represent the Giant God’s original form.

On either side of the iron door stood two towering warriors clad in super heavy armor, wearing white cloaks and wielding great swords.

Loseta noticed the sun-shaped badge on their armor.

"Immediately!"

Upon seeing the "Chosen Warriors," the two white-robed knights stood at attention and saluted.

"Solar Knights."

Loseta silently nodded in return.

These warriors were the "fortunate" ones she spoke of, the first world saved by the Giant God—Themis’s reinforcements.

"Creak—screech—!"

The great door opened.

Inside the vast and majestic hall stood a crowd, dark and dense, with at least twenty thousand individuals!

They were the "Chosen Warriors," all clad in dark gray super heavy armor; unlike the "Solar Knights" at the entrance, they did not wear cloaks.

However, the dark gray armor, almost black, brought a strong sense of silence and menace.

It truly reflected the style of Valaharl.

"The Death Warriors Order of Knights."

This was the first Order of Knights formed by the "Chosen Warriors" from Valaharl, and it was also the first "Order of Knights" created under Albert Drake’s "second military formation" plan.

Perhaps due to "mass production" without the direct blessing of the Giant God, the remaining Chosen Warriors were slightly weaker than the Ashen Knights, except for the first batch, which had received personal blessings from the Giant God.

But, relative to mortal soldiers, they had reached the level of "demigods."

The second military formation also granted each Order of Knights its own badge.

For example, the badge of the "Solar Knights" featured a red sun emitting geometric flames; meanwhile, the badge of the "Death Warriors" depicted a skull wearing a respirator.

The first group of warriors blessed by the Giant God had been organized into the "evil god slayers Order of Knights," and their armor was painted completely black.

Their badge style was a sword plunged into a pile of "compound eyes."

This represented their allegiance to the "Chosen One," Loseta, who directly commanded them, and their honor lay in her achievements against the Outer Gods from the Void.

Now, both the "Death Warriors" and the "evil god slayers" knelt on one knee.

Before them stood a tall, gray-robed priest in super heavy armor, delivering a sermon to them.

The content of the sermon was quite simple.

"What is your responsibility!?"

"To faithfully follow the Giant God’s will!"

"What is the Giant God’s will!?"

"To wipe out chaos! Until death!"

"How will you fulfill the Giant God’s will!?"

"Blood sacrifice for the Giant God! Offerings to the divine throne!"

…

The intense fervor made Loseta frown slightly, but she didn’t think much about it.

The one giving the pre-battle talk to these new warriors was an experienced Chosen Champion—Bohimond.

Bohimond was the Grand Knight of the "Ashen Knights" order and also led the political department of the "Purification Agency," teaching newcomers about their beliefs.

Loseta saw the emblem on his broad shoulder—a sword stabbing a demon skull.

But political work seemed pointless in Valaharl.

Loseta felt Bohimond should teach the Valaharl people how to save their strength, not waste it so often…

"But…"

"I don’t have the right to say that."

Loseta’s eyelids drooped a bit, as if she regretted her own flaws.

Then, she walked straight past the crowd and into a room at the back of the hall.

There, the first "Chosen Champion" waited for her.

"Master Glade."

Loseta stood straight and saluted.

Glade saluted back and waved her over.

The small room was packed with big gray and white canned ones, plus a tall, slim woman in a high hat.

"Meet him: he is the Grand Knight of the Solar Knights, Dekhaka."

"This is Purity Officer Ms. Sylvia."

"And this one is…"

"Never mind, no time. Let’s check the enemy’s moves."

"The situation is bad; the enemy wildly hired lots of fighters."

"Along with the chaotic battleships and demon legion that came with the Chaos Demon God, there are Outer Gods from the Void and Ether Dragons."

"So, our tactics are easy: focus on the Giant God and make chances for it to destroy enemies one by one."

"We hit some and hold back others."

"Our job is to slow the demon god and demon legion on land, while the Ether Dragons’ power will be stalled by the ‘Giant God Navy’ from the Ether Queen and the ‘net path knights’ of living saint Sulya."

"Now…"

"Buzz—!"

Right then, the whole fortress started shaking!

The sky outside was fully covered by huge, scary things.

But they ignored the mortal lines and this fortress, flying straight overhead.

The proud Outer Gods from the Void thought mortals weren’t worth fighting!

Glade sighed.

"The Outer Gods from the Void were faster than we expected."

"They left the demon god on land far behind."

"It looked like they were after the Giant God."

But then, he smiled.

"Still, this is good for the great Giant God."
