Chapter 104: The Collapse of Beltan
The Ranger Ark, Beltan.
This was once an Ark World composed of thousands of "Ranger Ships."
But now…
“Bang—!”
“Boom—!”
Giant magical sparks erupted within the etheric liquid, only to be instantly extinguished by its powerful restorative force.
Like candles snuffed out.
Beltan had collapsed!
“This is destiny!”
“Heaven’s will…”
The Ark’s Prophet, Il’Feline, knelt sorrowfully on the ground.
As Prophet, she should have guided the entire Ark fleet through the "Sea of Ether," finding routes to evade the Outer Gods, Ether Dragons, Star-Eater Plutonium Dragons, and Chaotic Forces.
Ether Dragons and Star-Eater Plutonium Dragons remained largely neutral, viewing other beings in the etheric liquid only through instinctive hunger; they typically preyed on just a few ships from the fleet.
Star-Eater Plutonium Dragons avoided attacking vessels but would ruthlessly ram anything obstructing their path.
Outer Gods launched chaotic, random assaults until boredom consumed them.
These three perils of the Sea of Ether were mere "natural disasters"—manageable with ample experience.
But only the Chaotic Forces lurking in Subspace pursued the Ranger fleet with relentless malice!
Il’Feline’s duty as Beltan’s Prophet was to use magic, predicting the Chaotic fleet’s movements to chart survival routes.
Yet…
“My prophecy foretold rebirth and prosperity when skirting Valaharl’s Bubble World.”
“How did this happen?!”
Instead of renewal, demons ambushed them!
The Ark fleet suffered over seventy percent losses.
Such devastation doomed the Ark’s continuity.
Though small boats and transports saved sixty percent of the population, the surviving ships couldn’t support everyone.
Even if they escaped, extinction awaited the Beltan forces!
Beltan had been led to ruin by its Prophet!
To atone, Il’Feline sent other Arks ahead while remaining on a smaller Ark with her attendants.
Chaotic demons craved spellcasters’ flesh.
By offering herself, Il’Feline aimed to slow the demons chasing the remaining Arks.
Extinction was certain, and her sacrifice might change nothing—but every extra minute granted her people carried a sliver of hope for miracles!
"Did my prophecy fail!?"
At that moment…
"Bang—!"
The Ark where Il’Feline was suddenly shook violently.
"Puff—hiss—!"
The entire ship was hit on the side by another ship, tearing a huge gash open!
The ship that crashed into this Ark was also a fish-shaped vessel, but it was covered in a hexagram pattern that meant chaos!
Il’Feline knew this big ship right away.
"This is…?"
"The Ark that vanished some time ago!?"
"How could it be here!?"
"And changed into this mess!?"
Now, this ship was packed with bloated, mutated, terrifying monsters with giant jaws and long horns; sharp teeth and strange horns stuck out all over, and their bodies were covered in sores leaking a liquid that smelled like sulfur!
"Chaotic eggs!?"
"So many!?"
But, one more thing bothered Il’Feline.
In that pile of chaotic eggs, there was a red "egg," or maybe a giant cocoon.
This weird giant cocoon gave off no energy and stood out from the chaotic eggs.
"Hahahaha…"
"This is fun."
A despair demon walked up, staring at Il’Feline like a winner.
"We grabbed this Ark a few days back. This has to be one of your fleet ships!?"
These demons had gathered near the Bubble World, Valaharl, on orders from chaos councilor Ralekin, to check why the Fantasy Tree root systems were cut.
But, this bunch of chaotic demons got lucky and caught a Ranger ship from the Beltan Ranger Ark on their way, plus a red "egg."
They gave the red egg to the new lowest rank, Kantrodiphis, but he laughed at them and kicked them out.
So, the "red cocoon" was left on the captured Ark.
Soon, this group of demons got a fresh order from Lord Ralekin to head to the "Bubble World," Valaharl, to wipe out the last human holdouts there.
"At first, we had to hurry to ‘Bubble World’ Valaharl and couldn’t chase.
So, our wizard sent a ‘drifting dream’ through that scared captain’s mind, hoping to draw you here.
Who thought it would work!"
"Hahahaha…"
The truth and the chaotic demons’ plot were out.
Il’Feline fell for the chaos wizard’s trap, biting the hook like a foolish fish and leading the entire fleet to utter ruin.
All the prophets and mages around her cursed and wept.
Yet absurdly, Il’Feline felt no sorrow.
As Beltan’s greatest prophet, her prophetic capability still insisted the prophecy hadn’t been wrong!
Even in this fallen state.
"How absurd…"
Il’Feline laughed mockingly at herself.
But what struck her as even more absurd was her own fixation on that crimson egg amid their hopeless plight.
"Crack…"
A hairline fissure seemed to split the surface of the "egg"!?
"Boom—!"
The despair demon’s hooves now thudded beside her.
"Fascinating! What holds your gaze!?"
"That scarlet cocoon?"
"Hahahahaha…"
"Humans amuse me! Facing death, yet clinging to final delusions!"
"No miracle awaits. That crimson cocoon won’t…"
"Gurk…"
Death strangled the despair demon’s words.
"Hush…"
Blood-smeared hands stabbed through its belly.
The wound alone wasn’t fatal—but the sun-like light blazing from those hands had already incinerated the demon’s innards!
"Thud…"
The demon collapsed lifelessly. Bloodthirsty demons and chaotic eggs nearby leaped backward in terror.
"Tap…"
Gentle footsteps halted before Il’Feline.
She lifted her head, gazing with stunned gratitude at the owner of those slender calves.
A woman bathed in "Holy Light from the Sun" stood there.
"Get up!"
"Fight!"
The commanding voice crashed through Il’Feline’s soul!
Before Il’Feline or her dazed followers could react, the woman pivoted with lethal grace, lunging at the chaotic eggs.
"Blood sacrifice for the Giant God! Offerings to the divine throne!"
Her roaring battle cry echoed across the Ark!
