Chapter 102: Don’t Hide in the City of Dimensions! Coward!
“Sizzle… sizzle…”
“Sizzle—!”
In the cold waters of the Valaharl Continental Shelf, magical sparks burst forth underwater!
The cause of this spectacle wasn’t a deity, but humans.
“Huff… hiss…”
The Valaharl technicians still wore their signature “hoods,” and the sound of their breathing machines echoed heavily in the cockpits.
Their small mechs busily worked on the giant constructs resembling “sea spiders.”
Those magical sparks were the energy from the welding guns of the small mechs.
They were racing to repair these massive constructs, which could rival the Hell Battleships.
The Valaharl people’s technology and civilization were the highest yet seen.
Their special “culture dish” breeding method, coats and masks blocking all Chaos Energy, and these colossal mechs capable of battling Hell Battleships were beyond what Themis—or even Ranger Ark Iyangden—could imagine.
Moreover, all this was developed without any blessing from the Giant God.
Without such skill, the Valaharl people could never have remained in their homeland after the Time of the End, resisting fiercely.
The Silent among them held a belief: Relying on others was weaker than relying on oneself.
Though many Valaharl people knew a great Giant God—chaos’s mortal enemy—had entered this Bubble World to aid them against chaos, and had won some victories, every Valaharl understood one truth: Gods help those who help themselves.
No being would save spineless cowards.
They had to prove their courage and worth to the deities; only then would the chaos-fighting deity take them under its wing, letting them join the army for revenge!
This was the Valaharl way—death and destruction weren’t fearsome; worthlessness was.
“Huff… hiss…”
Amidst heavy breathing, the technicians slowly steered their repair mechs away from the giant construct.
Then…
“Buzz—!”
The “magical engine” roared back to life.
“Thud! Thud! Thud!”
The gigantic mech stirred.
Its towering, slender legs stomped across the seabed mountains, rumbling like thunder!
“Huff… hiss…”
Watching it move, the Valaharl technicians swelled with pride!
Yet just then…
“Roar—!”
“Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle…”
Two roars echoed in the sea, one after another.
One was savage and utterly senseless, like a complete madman.
The other though…
seemed a bit sly and cunning.
"Look! Look!"
"What a strange thing! Strange!"
"But we’re not here for you! Go away! Go away!"
The three Outer Gods of the Blood Octopus Outer God still swirled in the sea, tentacles gripping tentacles.
Though they resembled three girls in petticoats dancing a strange, ridiculous waltz, this absurdity concealed terrifying power!
"Boom—"
"Crash—"
Violent currents raged, tossing the small Valaharl workboats wildly. Terrifying syllables formed of "primordial language" made the Valaharl people tremble and shudder.
Yet the Valaharl people were surprised by these Outer Gods’ "kindness" and "reason." Outer Gods were typically frenzied, chaotic, and unspeakably cruel.
Once they chose prey, they gave no quarter, wasting no words before launching a savage frenzy.
Sometimes, even after the prey perished, the Outer Gods wouldn’t relent. They’d madly trample and tear at the corpses, shrieking senseless howls until boredom made them leave.
For example, the entity pursuing the Blood Octopus Outer God was pure fury!
"Roar—!"
A being with hundreds of tentacles, dragging a strange crescent-shaped shell, bellowed as it charged!
Its tentacles lashed out, swatting the Blood Octopus Outer God aside.
"Roar! Scram!"
"Blocking the way! Die!"
This was the Outer Gods’ madness.
They recognized neither friend nor foe—or rather, saw no distinction. Whatever entered their sight became prey.
"Ah! It hurts! It hurts!"
"You scram! Scram!"
"Go die! Die!"
The Blood Octopus Outer God angrily slapped its tiny head-mounted "meat wings," cursing as it retreated.
As if sensing something, they swam far away, keeping distance from the Valaharl war machines and the dark cave ahead.
The Blood Octopus Outer Gods trembled with both excitement and dread, seeming to await something.
But the frenzied Outer God ignored their curses.
It howled and surged forward!
Hundreds of dense tentacles struck violently at the Valaharl war machines blocking its path!
“Bang—!”
“Boom—!”
Divine power slammed against machinery, shaking the air with thunderous noise!
Each war machine of the Valaharl people thrust out long hydraulic limbs, seizing the Outer God’s tentacles in a death grip.
“Ugh…”
The Outer God’s colossal mental assault exploded inside the Valaharl pilots’ minds. Blood streamed from their eyes, ears, and noses, pooling within their sealed suits until tiny rivers of crimson flowed.
Yet they refused to yield!
“Whew… hiss… whew… hiss…”
Their breathing turned ragged. Ignoring distractions and fighting through skull-splitting agony, the Valaharl pilots steadily pushed their mechanical limbs against the Outer God’s dreadful tentacles.
The main pilot collapsed. The first co-pilot took over.
When the first co-pilot fell, the second and third stepped up.
They sacrificed themselves one after another, buying seconds against the Outer God’s advance.
All to prove their worth to the watching "Giant God"!
Perhaps sensing their struggle, the Giant God’s presence seemed to bolster them—the Valaharl pilots found their minds hardening, resilience growing stronger than ever before.
“Roar—!?”
The Outer God reeled in shock.
These insects’ contraptions had endured a full assault from its tentacles!?
But…
“Gaa—!”
“Skreech—!”
Its retaliation came swift.
Tentacles pinned by war machines snapped off like rotten branches. Each severed limb writhed to life like a venomous sea snake, coiling around the mechanical behemoths with crushing force.
Hope vanished.
The Outer God now loomed at the entrance to the City of Dimensions—the Giant God’s sanctuary.
“Hah…”
It peered into the dimensional gateway with savage eyes, spitting contempt.
“Pathetic worms!”
“You think hiding in this city will save you!?”
“Fools!”
“My touch unravels the very laws of the City of Dimensions!”
With that, it swung a tentacle—
“Crack!”
“KABOOM—!”
A squirming forest of limbs—enough to chill any heart—smashed through the city’s protective laws. Tentacles plunged deep into the dimensional realm, raking and groping wildly…
“Hahaha…!”
“Cowering in your hole, little worm!”
“There’s no escape!”
“Hahaha…!”
The Outer God’s mad laughter echoed…
Then abruptly died.
Silence fell—
As if stunned by what its claws had seized.
