Chapter 69: Title

Lian Rong wore a scarlet purple brocade robe, which, combined with her striking and ambiguous features, caught the attention of young ladies along the way, who whispered among themselves.

Gu Hengbo glanced again at Helan Yin, who was following behind with heart eyes, and at the little girl Lianqing, who was looking up proudly. In her heart, she gave a certain someone a rude gesture.

Feeling unsatisfied, she lingered by that person’s side and said in a teasing tone, “Are you having fun? You wear men’s clothing every day to show off and shamelessly flirt with good women. That must feel amazing, right?”

Lian Rong raised an eyebrow. Having spent some time with Gu Hengbo, she had gotten used to her occasionally annoying vocabulary. Whatever came out of her mouth was certainly not pleasant.

“It is quite fun. Are you jealous, my dear?”

“Miss, even self-love has its limits. Do I look like someone who would get jealous?” She wouldn’t feel jealous of someone like that.

“You do.”

Hey!

“Look, look, this is so fun! It looks like a monkey!” Helan Yin suddenly shouted from behind.

Gu Hengbo turned her head to see what she was pointing at, her face emotionless as she said, “Honey, your country is really poor. You’ve never seen sugar figurines?”

“The streets of Xiliang are mostly filled with meat sellers and all kinds of meat,” Lian Rong whispered in Gu Hengbo’s ear, then kissed her cheek.

“What are you doing?” This was in the street!

“Kissing you.”

Gu Hengbo: “…”

“Royal uncle, royal uncle, I want one too!” Lianqing tugged at Lian Rong’s sleeve, looking pitiful. Usually, when her royal uncle took her out, he either carried her or held her hand, but now that he had a bride, he ignored her.

Gu Hengbo swatted away someone’s hand and turned to lead Lianqing toward the sugar figurines, saying quietly, “Little Qingqing, you can’t shout like that outside. It’s not good if others hear.”

Lianqing looked at her in confusion. “Then what should I call you?”

Gu Hengbo thought for a moment, glancing at someone more than a little obvious among the crowd. “Call me aunt.”

Huh?! “Okay then.” She was ten years old, not little Qingqing. This royal aunt was strange. “What should Lianqing call royal aunt?” She mimicked Gu Hengbo and asked quietly.

Gu Hengbo was caught off guard and replied, “Call her sister.”

“Oh.”

“Little Yin, little Qingqing wants one too. You help her get one,” Gu Hengbo implied clearly, indicating that what she wanted she would have to pay for.

Helan Yin stared at the sugar figurines, entranced, and asked, “What does little Qingqing want?”

“I want that piggy.”

Wow! A piggy! She liked pigs too. Gu Hengbo pulled Lianqing closer and pointed to a slightly more colorful pig, saying, “Sir, give me two piggies.”

The vendor continued his work and looked at her, leisurely saying, “Miss, those are just for males.”

Hey?!

Lian Rong watched as the three of them held a sugar figurine each. A complex emotion flickered in her eyes, something hard to define, but it was surely quite tangled.

On the way, Helan Yin bought two strings of candied hawthorns, and Lianqing held two as well. Gu Hengbo thought to herself that it was good the Xiliang princess had money; otherwise, today would have been another crime.

Gu Hengbo was quite interested in the acrobatic performers of ancient times, but as Lian Rong told her, such things existed in other states but were forbidden in the royal city. If discovered, one would be imprisoned. Suddenly, Gu Hengbo found it uninteresting; she clearly wasn’t cut out for life beneath the emperor’s feet.

Lian Rong rarely went out, but she was aware of places that were fun, especially how to make these “three kids” happy.

Today, the weather was nice, so she suggested going hiking, aiming to build some feelings with her dear wife outside the royal city.

“Alright, let’s go! But first, let’s eat. After we eat, we’ll have the strength to climb the mountain,” someone said, covering their rumbling stomach with a smile.

The other three threw her disdainful glances, clearly it was just you who was hungry, alright?

Gu Hengbo originally wanted to go to Yipin Tower. Although she wasn’t sure if Gu Cheng would be there, because Lian Rong always acted that way whenever she saw Gu Cheng, she decided it would be better to change places.

“I say, you’re not going to let a young girl pay for you, are you?” Gu Hengbo asked Lian Rong.

“Oh, I took some money from A Che before coming out.”

“You…”

“Don’t worry, my dear, he doesn’t know it was me.” Lian Rong found a spot to sit down and patted next to her. “Come sit here.”

Gu Hengbo looked at her like she was crazy. “You’ve done this more than once, right? Even your subordinates aren’t spared. You are truly lacking in morals.”

Helan Yin pulled Lianqing to sit down in the spot Lian Rong had just patted. Seeing them, one standing and the other sitting calmly, while the one standing had her hands on her hips and looked ready to explode.

“What are you doing? What lack of morals? Who?”

Lian Rong glanced at Helan Yin, who was closely leaning against her, and said slowly, “Me.”

Gu Hengbo crossed her legs and sat across from the two, tapping the chopstick holder on the table. “Waiter, we want to eat.”

After a long time, no one came to serve them, while the other three didn’t seem worried at all. Little Lianqing was happily munching on a candied fruit, and someone was utterly furious, slamming the chopstick holder on the table. It sent a whole tube of chopsticks flying out. “Owner, are you still in business?”

The noise was so loud that everyone turned to look. The waiter, seeing the luxurious clothing of the three, realized they were either rich or noble, especially the one in the purple robe, who looked stunning enough to blind people.

Gu Hengbo shook her leg and shot the waiter a sideways glance. She was also dressed in men’s clothing, and though she lacked the dazzling presence of Lian Rong, the fine material on her made her look like a real rogue with that action.

“Don’t you want to do business anymore?” Gu Hengbo tapped on the table with an indifferent expression.

“Of course we do! It’s just that I didn’t see you all earlier. What would you like to order?” The waiter bent over, smiling ingratiatingly.

“Did you see? Get this lady two ounces of integrity,” Gu Hengbo pointed at Lian Rong, who looked very proud.

The waiter was confused. “Miss, what is integrity? Can you eat it?”

Gu Hengbo glanced at the ceiling. “Order your best dishes. Do you see this table?” She tapped the table again. “At least fill it.” Since it wasn’t her money, she didn’t care.

The waiter quickly agreed and was about to leave when Gu Hengbo called him back.

“Do you need anything else?”

Gu Hengbo shook the chopstick holder in her hand. “Chopsticks, of course. How can we eat without chopsticks?”

Chopsticks? The waiter took a while to respond and looked again at the chopsticks that had been scattered on the floor, repeatedly saying, “I’ll get the best chopsticks for you right away.”

As soon as the waiter left, Helan Yin leaned closer and quietly asked Gu Hengbo, “Why did you order so much?”

Gu Hengbo shot her a glare. “You still have a money sponsor sitting next to you. She’ll pay, so what are you worried about?”

“No, I mean, if we order so much, what if we can’t finish it?” Helan Yin asked, her ears turning red again.

Gu Hengbo glanced at Lian Rong. “If we can’t finish it, we’ll take it home, right, little Qingqing?”

Lianqing was still battling with her candied fruit. Hearing this, she looked a bit lost but quickly nodded when she met Gu Hengbo’s gaze. The royal aunt was scarier than the royal uncle.

Helan Yin had a line of sweat across her forehead and looked again at Gu Hengbo’s sitting posture, hesitating. “Girls shouldn’t sit like that.”

Gu Hengbo looked at her impatiently. Why was this girl so annoying? She pointed at her own men’s clothing. “I’m a man now. Don’t you think my posture looks wild?”

“Cough cough cough.” Lian Rong was drinking from her tea cup when she heard this and suddenly choked.
