Chapter 67: Title
When they returned, Gu Hengbo was leaning against a tree, fast asleep, her body awkwardly tilted and swaying dangerously. Lian Rong walked over and kicked her gently on the calf. “Wake up.”
As Gu Hengbo tried to turn over, her head fell into the grass, making it hard for her to wake. She scrunched her brows and shouted, “Who’s so blind to not see that I’m sleeping?”
Lian Rong bent down and lifted her up. “How can you sleep here? Aren’t you afraid someone will shoot an arrow at you and take the credit?”
Gu Hengbo half-opened her eyes to look at her. “Can’t you be gentler? You were the one who kicked me.”
Lian Rong raised an eyebrow. “If I didn’t kick you, should I kick myself? Get on the horse; we’re going back.”
Gu Hengbo looked reluctant, but her eyes lit up when she saw Helan Yin’s petite figure not far behind Lian Rong. “Hey, beautiful, you’re still here?”
Lian Rong’s mouth twitched, and without giving her a chance to argue, she pulled her up on the horse.
Helan Yin pouted and mounted her horse, following behind the two.
Gu Hengbo leaned back and looked over, her eyes sparkling, "Are you coming with us?"
Helan Yin thought to herself that this person looked good on the outside, and the silly girl on the inside was quite to her liking. She was much better than that annoying person behind her. How could someone look better than her? It simply wasn’t fair.
Seeing that Gu Hengbo wasn’t being acknowledged, she found it boring and was about to sit up straight when she felt a hand sneak into her collar. A wave of heat quickly spread through her body. She stiffened and asked, "What are you doing?"
"I’m taking advantage of you," came the nonchalant reply as the hand continued its movement.
Gu Hengbo felt her ears burning. She grabbed Lian Rong’s hand, which was misbehaving on her chest, her tone a little unsteady. "We’re outside; don’t act crazy."
Lian Rong rested her head on her neck and bit her earlobe playfully, "There’s no one around now; nobody will see us."
When Gu Hengbo sensed Lian Rong’s other hand moving beneath her, she gasped and shouted quietly, "There’s someone behind us; stop messing around." What was wrong with this woman’s brain? This was in public! Besides, they were still on horseback.
Lian Rong’s fingers gently moved at her chest. Hearing the suppressed moans from the person in her arms, she tightened her embrace from behind. With increased pressure, her warm, soft lips dropped a series of delicate kisses on Gu Hengbo’s fair neck.
Gu Hengbo clung tightly to Lian Rong’s hand, feeling frustrated. Just one gentle tease from her, and it felt as though her body belonged to someone else. Struggling to maintain some rationality, Gu Hengbo turned her head and bit Lian Rong’s chin fiercely. "If you keep this up, I won’t hold back."
Helan Yin followed behind, her big eyes peering constantly at the two on the horse ahead. From behind, it seemed their posture was more than just ambiguous. As Helan Yin’s heart raced, her curiosity grew. She kicked her feet on the horse and quietly moved closer. When she finally reached a side angle, she almost fell off her horse in shock.
Why was that annoying person putting her hand inside the silly girl’s collar? Mother said that a girl’s body shouldn’t be touched casually. And was that silly girl really silly? How could she not resist when being bitten? If it were her, she would definitely bite back.
Helan Yin gazed, forgetting to feel embarrassed or realizing she was seeing something she shouldn’t. Her eyes brimmed with curiosity as her horse slowly moved toward the chestnut horse.
Gu Hengbo caught sight of the white horse out of the corner of her eye. She was just about to speak when Lian Rong kissed her lips and held her tightly for a while.
Lian Rong glanced down at the approaching Helan Yin. "Have you seen enough?"
Helan Yin, startled by her sudden voice, felt completely at a loss. Meeting Lian Rong’s calm gaze made her heart race even more. She quickly shook her head, "No."
Lian Rong’s eyes darkened, "Still not enough?"
Helan Yin suddenly realized, waving her hand, "I’ve seen enough. I’m leaving now; you two continue." Without waiting for Lian Rong to respond, she rode her horse away in a panic.
Lian Rong seemed a bit displeased. "You’re even dumber than you look. How will you get married in the future?"
Gu Hengbo adjusted her clothes, gripping tightly. She nodded in agreement, "Aren’t you fond of this? It would be better to keep them together."
Lian Rong shot her a glance. "She’s still just a child."
Gu Hengbo glared back. "Your Highness, I’m already seventeen." Speaking of which, the owner of this body was still a minor, so it was unfair to that older woman.
Lian Rong thought for a moment and agreed. She kissed the person in her arms gently. "It was you who wanted to marry me in the first place; this king didn’t force you." She was the one who knelt down to beg her, after all.
Gu Hengbo didn’t like discussing this issue; both of them understood the reason well enough.
Noticing Gu Hengbo’s silence, Lian Rong felt a bit disappointed. She didn’t know how to deal with a little girl who was sixteen years younger than her. She finally understood that this girl had no feelings for her at all.
The two of them rode back in silence, returning to the hunting ground. Lian Rong handed the bow and arrow to a guard and lifted Gu Hengbo off the horse.
All the eyes naturally fell upon them. Unlike Lian Rong, Gu Hengbo stepped forward and respectfully bowed to the Emperor and Empress.
The Emperor nodded and instructed someone to give them seats.
While Gu Hengbo was bowing, Helan Yin, sitting next to the King of Xiliang, was stunned. She wasn’t stupid; who else could bow to the Eastern Emperor without kneeling but them? She instinctively glanced back at Lian Rong, who wore a scarlet robe and had a faintly soft yet handsome face, smiling gently. She should have guessed that.
At that moment, King of Xiliang laughed loudly, “This is Prince Rong’s concubine; indeed, seeing is better than hearing."
As soon as Gu Hengbo’s bottom touched the seat, she heard that booming laughter, causing her to freeze for a moment.
Lian Rong pressed her hand, signaling her to sit. "Meisheng, this is the King of Xiliang."
Gu Hengbo, held down by Lian Rong, could only smile and nod slightly at King of Xiliang to show her respect.
The King of Xiliang smiled at her and turned to his little daughter, saying, “Yin Er, quickly greet Prince Rong and Princess Rong.”
Helan Yin fixed her eyes on Lian Rong. Upon hearing this, she obediently nodded, stood up, and walked in front of them, ready to bow. Gu Hengbo quickly stood up to support her, saying, “No need for formalities, Your Highness.”
Helan Yin lifted her gaze, quietly observing Gu Hengbo. Didn’t they say Gu Meisheng was a fool?
Gu Hengbo winked at her, her eyes full of laughter.
Helan Yin sat back in surprise. So that person was truly Prince Rong. Then, how is their relationship, she wondered?
Lian Rong glanced at Helan Yin and smiled, “The first time I met you, you were still a little baby in swaddling clothes. Now you have grown into a tall and graceful young lady. Truly, girls change a lot as they grow up.”
The King of Xiliang quickly smiled in agreement, and the atmosphere in the pavilion gradually became lively. The emperor and empress both wore smiles, and everyone chatted happily. The King of Xiliang, being generous, instructed Eastern Emperor to set up the banquet right there.
Helan Yin stole glances at the figure in red. Her little thoughts, her father must have known long ago, but she was unsure of what he would do. Gu Meisheng is the main wife, and she, as a princess, shouldn’t have to become a concubine, right? The crucial thing is that he didn’t even look at her. What does it mean, talking about how the first time he saw her she was a baby? It’s as if she is very old. Wait a minute, how old is she? Oh right, the nanny said Prince Rong is thirty-three this year.
Helan Yin felt a bit troubled. Isn’t that about the same age as her mother? But why does he seem so… Oh! She looked over at her. Helan Yin’s face turned red, and she quickly picked up the wine cup from the small table to hide her embarrassment.
A playful glint flashed in Lian Rong’s eyes as she leaned toward Gu Hengbo and whispered, “Ah Heng, that little girl seems to have taken a liking to me.”
Gu Hengbo’s eyebrows jumped as she said with a straight face, “Is her brain kicked by a donkey? How could she like you?”
