Chapter 66: Title

Helan Yin dismounted and ran towards the fallen deer, her eyes slightly red. “How can you kill it?”

Gu Hengbo felt embarrassed; just moments ago, didn’t she yell about catching rabbits? You already readied your arrow, what part are you playing now? Lian Rong took this chance to pinch Gu Hengbo’s chin and kissed her fiercely.

Helan Yin looked up, wanting to confront them, but saw the two entangled in a passionate moment. She was first stunned, then screamed, her face turning as red as blood.

Lian Rong frowned and let go of Gu Hengbo’s chin, looking at Helan Yin squatting on the ground. “Are you leaving or not?”

“Why should I leave when you ask me to? Both of you have to come back with me. I’ll ask my father to punish you; you have offended me, and, and…”

Lian Rong smirked. “And what?”

Helan Yin glared at her. “You scoundrel!”

Gu Hengbo couldn’t watch any longer and reminded her, “Miss, can’t you see she’s a woman? How can you call her a scoundrel? You’d better not follow my example; you’ll regret it."

Lian Rong found her words amusing and pulled her in for another wild kiss, completely ignoring the fact that there was a minor still standing there.

Helan Yin lowered her head, too shy to look, her eyes already red, looking pitiful. Gu Hengbo pushed Lian Rong away and caught her breath. “Stop it; you’ve scared her.”

Lian Rong asked again, “Are you leaving or not?”

Helan Yin lowered her head, blushing. “I’m not leaving. I want to compete with you to see who catches more prey, but we can’t harm them.”

Lian Rong laughed at her. “Just you? Never mind, I wouldn’t want my dear wife to say I’m bullying someone.”

Gu Hengbo shot her a glance. You’re the one bullying her. You’re grown up; why are you trying to make things hard for a girl? “Um, Miss Helan, she’s not that good; she can’t compete with you. You should just leave quickly.”

Helan Yin looked up at her. “I’m not called Miss Helan; my name is Helan Yin. My last name is Helan.”

Ah! Gu Hengbo’s face turned red. “I’m sorry, Miss Helan.”

“I’m a princess from Xiliang. Who are you? Why does she call you wife?” Clearly, they were all women. Hmph!

Gu Hengbo awkwardly scratched her head. “We are married, haha.”

Seeing her like this, Lian Rong grabbed her hand that was scratching her head and forced her fingers to intertwine with her own.

Gu Hengbo could no longer stand it; she turned her head aside. “How about you have one competition with her? You did come to hunt, after all; you can’t just come for nothing.”

Lian Rong raised an eyebrow. “Then I’ll do what you say.” She turned to Helan Yin and asked, “After the competition, will you leave?”

Helan Yin nodded, her face flushed. Even though they were all women, why did her heart race so much from this person’s gaze? She had never seen someone so beautiful before.

Gu Hengbo dismounted, found a cool spot, and plopped down, waving her clothes a couple of times to fan herself. “You two go ahead; I’ll wait here.”

Lian Rong sat on her horse, watching her. “Don’t wander off this time, understand? If you come back and I can’t find you, you know what the consequences will be.”

Gu Hengbo puffed up her cheeks and turned her head away.

Lian Rong sighed. “Just stay put; I’ll be back soon.”

Once the two left, Gu Hengbo lazily leaned against a tree. The area around her was lush, and the air was very fresh. Leaning against the tree, she squinted slightly. Ever since that incident, Lian Rong had been particularly nice to her, indulging her to the point of being unruly. Fortunately, she wasn’t a man; otherwise, with three or four wives, she would be unbearable.

However, what did it matter that she treated her well? In the end, she was just a woman. They had kissed, touched, and shared a bed, but all she could say was that she wasn’t disgusted. If they were to truly live together in the future, it felt unrealistic to her. Two women growing old together and caring for each other was still an issue. Although Lian Rong was a royal and wealthy, so she wouldn’t have to worry about not being cared for in the future, she still hoped to have her own children. Having a family together was worth more than anything else.

Deep in the woods, they occasionally encountered others in the same competition, seeing them with their captured prey. Helan Yin felt a surge of envy. Ignoring Lian Rong behind her, she spurred her horse forward, raising her longbow.

Lian Rong followed her at a steady pace, their red clothes standing out vividly against the green surroundings. Suddenly, Helan Yin called out as she pointed. Lian Rong looked up to see a large eagle circling above. She quickly realized this bird didn’t belong to the hunting ground; it must have spotted something to hunt. Before she could act, they heard the eagle call out and dive down, heading straight for Helan Yin.

Normally, she would have just watched, but thinking about Gu Hengbo waiting behind, she decided to intervene, taking her place to see the action unfold.

Helan Yin noticed the eagle coming at her. She skillfully pulled on the reins to dodge its claws, but her horse, startled, let out a long neigh.

Knowing it was difficult to maneuver on horseback, Helan Yin nimbly leaped off her horse, expecting the eagle to chase her. To her surprise, the eagle was not after her; instead, it circled in the air and suddenly swooped down to attack her white horse.

Helan Yin was frightened and swung her whip swiftly and accurately at the eagle.

Lian Rong was surprised; she hadn’t expected this girl, looking small, to be so skillful. A smile crept across her lips. “If you can’t handle it alone, just say so.”

“No need.”

Lian Rong shook her head. She thought to herself that it was hard to understand children these days. They always acted as if they didn’t need help. It was surprising how much they could grow without understanding what was needed to survive.

Not wanting to waste time, Lian Rong didn’t even use an arrow; instead, she used her inner strength to strike the eagle with her longbow. Helan Yin was right behind the eagle, and there was no time for her to dodge. Lian Rong swiftly moved her out of the way.

On horseback, Helan Yin slumped, looking dispirited with the dead eagle still attached to her horse’s backside. Pouting, she complained, “Why did you help me? I can’t even handle one eagle. Prince Rong will definitely not like me now.”

Lian Rong glanced at her. “What does hunting have to do with Prince Rong?”

Helan Yin straightened her back confidently. “Of course, everyone says Dongyin Prince Rong is talented and exceptional. She is the wealthiest in Dongyin and has a great reputation across the nine provinces. Even emperors from other countries show respect to her. Many say only someone like her deserves me.”

Lian Rong laughed silently at that. “Did your father tell you that Prince Rong is a woman?”

“I didn’t need my father to tell me; everyone knows!” Helan Yin answered as if it were obvious.

“Do you know she’s already married?”

“Of course, she is the Second Miss of the Prime Minister’s residence, right? I heard she’s a bit foolish, so Prince Rong must prefer me over her,” Helan Yin replied, showing no signs of pressure.

Lian Rong pondered those words. It seemed everyone knew things that Gu Meisheng, who had grown up in Dongyin, was completely unaware of. Was she really foolish since childhood? Hah, she didn’t think so.

“Gu Hengbo,” Lian Rong murmured.

Helan Yin frowned. “What did you just say?”

“I said, you are indeed more beautiful than Gu Meisheng.”
