Chapter 40: Title
In the quiet courtyard, Gu Hengbo lay on the lounge chair looking at the sky. The weather had been nice these past few days, and she could see stars every night. During the time at the Prime Minister’s residence, she had wasted precious days sleeping.
Lian Rong came out of the room holding a blanket. "It’s cooler here than in the royal city at night. You should cover up." She threw the blanket to Gu Hengbo.
Gu Hengbo said "thank you," and there was nothing more to say.
Lian Rong stood next to her, looking up at the sky like her. "Is your lover up there or an old acquaintance?"
"Both."
After eating, Gu Hengbo kept thinking about a question: tonight would she sleep with Lian Rong again? How should they sleep? What should she say before sleeping so it wouldn’t be awkward? What if Lian Rong made any strange requests? After thinking for a long time, she couldn’t come up with an answer.
"Ah Heng."
Suddenly, Lian Rong spoke up. Gu Hengbo turned her head slightly, frowning. "You said."
"What do you think of me?"
"You’re pretty good." Gu Hengbo forced a smile. Why did this question sound so foolish coming from her?
"Is that so?"
At some point, Lian Rong had already gone back inside. Gu Hengbo remained lying in the courtyard, hesitating to go indoors. The mist grew thicker and cooler, making her hug the blanket tighter and suppress a sneeze. She turned over; this lounge chair was not as soft as the soft couch in Prince Rong’s or the Prime Minister’s residence, it was hard and cold. Gu Hengbo could no longer tolerate it. Feeling extremely tired, she stood up and kicked the lounge chair in frustration. Clutching the blanket, she shuffled slowly toward the room.
Lian Rong saw her come in and put down her book. "Finally willing to come in?"
Gu Hengbo blushed, not saying anything. Her sensitive nose caught a whiff of something burning in the room; she didn’t ask more, assuming it was one of Lian Rong’s hobbies.
"You sleep first; I’ll sleep later," Lian Rong said.
Gu Hengbo bowed her head in gratitude and gave her a grateful glance. In these past two days, she felt Lian Rong was quite nice. Aside from occasionally teasing her, she hadn’t done anything excessive.
Once she realized that, Gu Hengbo’s mood improved. She sat on the bed and took off her shoes. "Actually, you’re a pretty good person," she said honestly.
Lian Rong paused for a moment while flipping through her book, smiling, "Thank you."
Gu Hengbo lay on the bed, inhaling the increasingly rich fragrance in the room. She wanted to ask what the scent was, but felt it might be too intrusive, so she didn’t think much about it and closed her eyes to sleep.
Lian Rong flipped through a few more pages of the book, then suddenly turned to look at Gu Hengbo, who had already fallen asleep on the bed. She did not expect her to sleep so quickly. Seeing that it was getting late, she stood up and walked to the side of the bed.
As Lian Rong loosened her clothing, she glanced at Gu Hengbo, who had her back to her, and a wave of emotions washed over her. Although she knew she did not like men, she never imagined that one day she would actually marry a woman.
What would Gu Hengbo think if she knew she was a woman?
Lian Rong intended to lie down and sleep, but the chaotic breaths nearby made her pause. Without thinking too much, she turned Gu Hengbo’s body over and was shocked to see her originally fair skin now red as if it had been burned by fire. She was left speechless. This is… "Wuyang."
As soon as Lian Rong finished speaking, a white figure appeared from outside. "My lady?"
"Why did you light this incense again?" Lian Rong asked coldly.
Wuyang glanced at the bed, where Lian Rong was half-dressed, embracing the unconscious Gu Hengbo, and her expression flustered. “I failed to do my duty.”
Lian Rong looked at the person in her arms. “How long has this incense been burning?”
“Wuyang knew you were coming; I lit it two days ago.”
“Prepare some water; I will need it soon,” Lian Rong said while unbuttoning the clothing of the person in her arms. “You can go now.”
Wuyang, blushing, exited the room.
Lian Rong looked at the increasingly heavy breathing of the person in her arms who still could not wake up, and without a second thought, she raised her hand and slapped her. The incense was originally for her training, and for someone without inner strength to breathe it in was like being poisoned. She had the antidote for everything, except for this.
Gu Hengbo slowly opened her eyes from Lian Rong’s slap. Just as Lian Rong was about to breathe a sigh of relief, she saw the strange look in Gu Hengbo’s eyes, which unmistakably showed that she was…
“You hit me,” Gu Hengbo said with a pout, looking at Lian Rong with a pitiful expression, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Lian Rong tensed up, unsure of how to respond. If worse came to worst, she would take her to Longquan. The water inside was icy to the bone; surely, it would wake her up. Determined, Lian Rong moved to embrace Gu Hengbo, but the soft hand caught hold of her.
“I feel hot…”
Lian Rong frowned at her. “What do you want?”
Gu Hengbo, lost in thought, hardly cared about what she said. She found herself unbearably hot. The shadow of Lian Rong also appeared to be double. Angry, she tugged at her own clothing. Lian Rong had already removed most of it, and now the pink bellyband embroidered with lotus flowers was exposed.
Lian Rong stared at her as if she were crazy. “Although you are poisoned, I can’t shake the feeling that you are trying to seduce me.”
With one shoulder half-exposed, Gu Hengbo’s delicate hand playfully reached for Lian Rong, who remained still, allowing her to touch her body.
As if discovering something amusing, Gu Hengbo leaned closer, staring at the red bellyband that matched hers, more and more curious. She touched it and mumbled, “So soft…”
“Mmm… so uncomfortable… so hot," the restless feeling seemed to return. Gu Hengbo furrowed her brow tightly in obvious pain.
Seeing her gradually curling up in distress, Lian Rong could not help but laugh. “You should really take a look at yourself right now.” Saying this, she quickly removed the little clothing Gu Hengbo had left.
The cool touch on her skin made Gu Hengbo tremble, and a series of intermittent moans escaped her lips.
Lian Rong didn’t even bother to remove her own clothing. Still half-dressed, she pressed Gu Hengbo down. With a playful smile in her eyes, her cool fingers traced Gu Hengbo’s burning face. “Didn’t I tell you that this king has been celibate for a long time? Why are you being so disobedient?” After a pause, she added, “If anything goes wrong later, you must be more understanding… Ah Heng.”
The slightly hoarse and gentle tone felt like a spell in Gu Hengbo’s ears. A fire seemed to surge within her, and an overwhelming darkness pressed down. She did not know where else to hide, feeling helpless and wanting to cry out.
Lian Rong resisted the urge to skip the foreplay and go straight to the main event. She kissed delicately from Gu Hengbo’s forehead down to her small chin, then repeatedly to her red lips. Her tongue smoothly entered, and without needing to do anything, Gu Hengbo’s sweet tongue eagerly tangled with hers.
Finally, after kissing until Gu Hengbo was breathless, Lian Rong let go, trailing kisses down her white neck. Gu Hengbo’s gradually blossoming body felt exceptionally sensitive; a simple touch of Lian Rong’s fingers made her shudder. Lian Rong applied a bit of pressure, and a barely contained moan came from above.
In a good mood, Lian Rong shifted upward, rewarding Gu Hengbo with kisses, playful fingers teasing her budding breasts. Still unsatisfied, she lowered her head to take them into her mouth and tease them back and forth.
Gu Hengbo, amid the teasing, felt her lower lip turn white from being bitten. She felt as if all her strength had been drained away. Her body lost balance, like a small boat adrift in the sea, desperately calling for help. In a daze, as if she had caught something, she held on tightly, feeling as if she had been saved.
Lian Rong’s hand was clasped tightly by the disoriented Gu Hengbo, as if it were a lifeline. Her heart softened inexplicably; after all, someone needed her, didn’t they?
Finally deciding not to complicate things further, she kissed Gu Hengbo’s forehead gently with one hand still held tight, while her other hand explored downwards.
The two of them stayed like that, even the bed curtains were not drawn, and soft moans echoed from behind the curtain. The moonlight poured in, unable to hide the warmth in the room.
The person in the courtyard, despite trying to breathe calmly, felt her racing heart betray her, causing a tightness in her chest and a blush spreading to her ears.
Wuyang looked at the room with a mournful expression, noting that the door wasn’t even closed properly and the bright candlelight spilled out. If she wasn’t mistaken, the bed curtains were definitely not pulled down. When would her master’s peculiar preference change?
