Chapter 24: Title
Gu Hengbo sat under the tree, using Lian Rong’s outer robe as a fan. “How did you come here? We can’t walk back like this, right?”
Lian Rong smiled, “I came the way you came.”
Gu Hengbo’s eyes brightened, “So, you flew here? Then take me back with you.”
“No way, it was tiring following you all that way.”
What nonsense! Didn’t she seem to enjoy herself when she was killing? In the blink of an eye, seven or eight black-clad men could be dead, and she couldn’t fly back? Don’t tell me she has a cheat code. “So, don’t you have any mounts? Like if you whistle, a fine horse will suddenly appear.” Isn’t that how they do it on TV?
Lian Rong leaned against the tree, smiling slightly while looking at her. “I really don’t have that.”
Even though Gu Hengbo couldn’t see above her nose, the way her lips curled up and the eyes behind the mask nearly blinded her. Those lips and chin were perfect, especially those eyes—they could electrify someone when she smiled. How could such a beauty just be a woman?
“I say, take off your mask so I can see.” Her features looked really good, no, they looked amazing. Even if half her face was damaged, it wouldn’t matter much.
Lian Rong said nothing and raised her hand to take off the mask.
“Wait.”
“What’s wrong? It may not be pretty, but I think you won’t mind.” Lian Rong said, her hand already on the mask.
Without hesitation, Gu Hengbo rushed forward and held down Lian Rong’s hand. “No, don’t. You trust me so much, it doesn’t matter if I see your face or not.” How could this person be so thick-skinned? Whether she was ugly or not had nothing to do with her, yet she acted as if she was the only one in the world who should see her.
Lian Rong’s eyes curved with a smile. “Aren’t you going to look anymore?”
“I’m not looking anymore,” Gu Hengbo said, waving her hand with a hint of frustration.
Lian Rong looked up at the sky. “It’s getting late. Have you rested well?”
Hearing this, Gu Hengbo realized that it had indeed gotten dark. Strange animal calls echoed through the woods, sending shivers down her spine. “You really can’t walk anymore?”
Lian Rong got up and looked around. “I can’t walk, and I’m also very hungry.”
Gu Hengbo froze. She thought, this strange person wouldn’t really roast her and eat her, would she? “Let’s hurry up and go. We can eat when we get back.” With that, she stepped forward.
“Oh, I just remembered something. If we go back now, the city gate will probably be closed. The city wall is so high. I can fly over by myself, but as for bringing you…”
“What do you mean?” Gu Hengbo asked instinctively.
“There’s a good chance I’d fall halfway,” Lian Rong shrugged, looking as if she couldn’t help it.
Gu Hengbo looked troubled. There was no way she could go back to Gu Cheng now. Was she really going to spend the night in the woods with this strange person?
“I’ll be right back. You wait here,” Lian Rong suddenly said, and in an instant, she vanished.
Gu Hengbo was stunned. “Hey, where did you go?”
The only answer was the rustling of leaves stirred by the wind. The strange calls lingered in her ears. Gu Hengbo took two steps back and leaned against a large tree. In a short moment, it had become completely dark.
“Longyang”
“Miss Long”
“Miss Long”
“Where did that strange person go? Oh no,” Gu Hengbo pouted, feeling so scared that she couldn’t even cry. She wrapped her red outer robe tightly around herself. If it hadn’t been for this outer robe, she would have thought that woman had never appeared. It was too quiet around her.
“Awwo…”
Gu Hengbo bit her lip hard, turning pale. If she hadn’t heard wrong, that had just been a wolf’s howl. What should she do? Wolves could tear a person apart and devour them. No, no, she couldn’t wait here any longer. She had to run; yes, she had to run.
Determined, Gu Hengbo took a deep breath and started to run. After just two steps, she retreated, staring blankly at two green glowing eyes not far away.
“Ah…” A heart-wrenching scream echoed through the woods.
As Gu Hengbo turned around, she crashed into a soft embrace.
A teasing voice came from above. “I heard you from far away. I thought you were slaughtering pigs in the woods.” Lian Rong had lit a fire and sat down on the ground, patting the space beside her. “Come sit.”
Gu Hengbo stared at her in disbelief. “Where did you go?”
“I went to find something to eat. Didn’t I tell you I was hungry? Aren’t you hungry?” Lian Rong smiled at her.
“You can still smile. Do you know I almost got eaten by a wolf just over there?” Gu Hengbo said, pointing excitedly behind her. But when she looked back, there was nothing but emptiness; the glowing eyes were gone.
“There was a wolf?” Lian Rong asked.
“It was right there, just a moment ago!” Gu Hengbo mumbled. How could this be? She must be right; it was definitely a wolf, and it wasn’t too far away—she had seen it clearly.
“Don’t worry. With me here, even if there was, they would eat me first before they get to you. Come sit.”
Still trembling from fear, Gu Hengbo sat next to Lian Rong and whispered, “I really saw it.”
“Alright, here, take this. You can eat it soon,” Lian Rong handed Gu Hengbo a branch with meat on it.
Gu Hengbo slowly exhaled. “What kind of meat is this?”
"I don’t know, maybe wolf meat."
"Wolf?" Gu Hengbo threw away the branch in her hand. "I don’t want to eat that."
Lian Rong suppressed a laugh and suddenly leaned close to her, whispering in her ear, "So what do you want to eat? Eat me?"
Gu Hengbo shivered, turning her head away. Through the mask, her deep, dark eyes seemed to pull at Lian Rong’s soul. "I’m… not hungry, um."
Gu Hengbo’s eyes widened. Did this woman just take advantage of her?
"Um, let go," Gu Hengbo turned her head, reaching to push Lian Rong away, but when her hand brushed against the softness of Lian Rong’s chest, she pulled back as if shocked. Lian Rong wore a triumphant smile, tossing the meat she had been roasting into the fire. With both hands free, she pulled Gu Hengbo into her embrace, pressing her lips against her without hesitation. In Lian Rong’s mind was the image of Gu Cheng kissing Gu Hengbo, but Gu Hengbo stubbornly held her ground, not giving in. Lian Rong raised an eyebrow.
Embracing Gu Hengbo tightly with one arm, her other hand started to explore, finding Gu Hengbo’s clothes beneath the loosely wrapped outer robe were in tatters. Lian Rong was patient, her hand wandering up and down. Sure enough, Gu Hengbo could no longer hold on, her resolve weakening, and Lian Rong naturally pushed her tongue inside.
Gu Hengbo stared wide-eyed, her hands pinned behind her back, half-pressed down. Her mouth was sealed shut, making it hard to breathe and overwhelming her with the feeling of being restrained—it was truly awful, especially in such a strange position. She closed her eyes and, taking advantage of Lian Rong’s invasive tongue, bit down.
Lian Rong winced, pulling back from Gu Hengbo’s lips, "Did you bite me?"
Gu Hengbo glared at her. "Who told you to take advantage of me? Is it interesting for a woman to take advantage of another woman?"
Lian Rong looked at her, her lips moving in a teasing manner. "If you have the ability, take advantage of me then."
Gu Hengbo froze, not expecting that response. She glared at Lian Rong. "You said it first. Who can’t take advantage?" Without caring that her hands were still pinned behind her, she tilted her neck and bit down.
Lian Rong paused, a strange light flickering in her eyes, her embrace tightening around Gu Hengbo as she patiently responded to the kiss.
Gu Hengbo pushed Lian Rong away and, with a quick motion, poked at her chest, thinking, "If you take advantage of me, I’ll take back what’s mine."
Lian Rong’s lips twitched. "Is that it? You’re not going to do more?" She still couldn’t resist taking advantage of her.
"That’s done, now we’re even," Gu Hengbo wiped her mouth with her sleeve, causing Lian Rong to roll her eyes.
