Chapter 25: She Really Didn’t Want to Advance
In the next breath.
Suddenly, Dream Weaver Rabbit disappeared in place and projected itself in front of Chu Yuanqing’s face. Its half-face was almost touching hers, with crimson pupils and a human-like expression, creating a creepy and horrifying effect.
If someone could see through Chu Yuanqing’s eyes at this moment, they would likely be startled. Sitting beside her, Chu Wang Shu widened her eyes in shock.
Even though Chu Yuanqing wasn’t frightened, she felt a pang of guilt for slacking off at work and being caught in the act.
Dream Weaver Rabbit grinned, its gaze lingering on Chu Yuanqing’s calm, refined face as if admiring a rare gem. Its eyes darkened slightly as it spoke, its tone laden with hidden meaning:
“Chu Yuanqing, you truly have the talent to be an idol.”
As its words faded, the trainees’ gazes converged from all directions.
In a talent show, such a statement is akin to an ancient emperor complimenting a prince in front of a crowd, drawing attention to her uniquely outstanding qualities and making her a target for criticism in public.
Chu Yuanqing felt extremely embarrassed and angry, as if sitting on pins and needles.
Is this show conspiring against her? How does zoning out suddenly translate into having idol potential? Can’t a person relax anymore?
And this crimson-eyed rabbit, so reminiscent of Quibi, was just as malicious. Can we revoke that statement already? Please?
But unfortunately.
Without waiting for her response, Dream Weaver Rabbit continued speaking, ignoring the strange looks from the trainees as she floated slowly into the air and said:
“All the equipment in the base has passed safety certification. Additionally, the competition contract you signed includes comprehensive insurance.”
“If you sustain injuries caused by the program’s equipment, compensation ranges from a minimum of five million to a maximum of sixty million. Feel free to try out new experiences within the base—”
“This might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
“As for the next step, the program team has uploaded eight theme songs to the official website for voting. Voting will remain open until the end of the day. The theme song with the most votes will be used for your upcoming group performance.”
“Until then, you are free to roam around the base, visit, train, or rest.”
“Now, dismiss.”
As the words faded,
Dream Weaver Rabbit cast a lingering glance at Chu Yuanqing, seated in the last row, before vanishing into thin air.
Chu Yuanqing sensed something was off as she met the other’s gaze, feeling a bit uneasy. Had she inadvertently attracted the attention of something unusual?
Chu Wang Shu tugged at her sleeve and whispered:
“Qing Qing, that Dream Weaver Rabbit seems really odd.”
“Do you think it’s the creator or its data that’s the issue?”
Chu Yuanqing gave her a disapproving look, saying unkindly:
“The Dream Weaver Rabbit is a super AI, probably holding a lot of power in this base. Don’t think it can’t hear you when you gossip behind its back, be careful not to get on its bad side.”
Chu Wang Shu nervously covered her mouth, innocently blinking her eyes, and shifting the focus away from the topic as the crowd dispersed gradually.
“Qing Qing, which dorm room are you in?”
Chu Yuanqing chose a less crowded entrance and said as she walked:
“Room 403 on the F floor.”
The little girl replied with some surprise:
“What a coincidence! I’m also on the F floor, but in Room 301.”
Chu Yuanqing remained calm on the outside but felt relieved inside.
It was fortunate they weren’t roommates. Lately, her daughter had been clinging to her like a little puppy, and Chu Yuanqing feared she’d lose her patience eventually.
“Since we’re heading in the same direction, right? You didn’t lose the access card that the program group gave you, did you? It’s essential for getting around the base.”
Chu Wang Shu quietly felt her pocket, found the card, and then retorted unhappily:
“Of course, I didn’t lose it! I’m not that careless.”
“Hmm, you’re not.”
Chu Yuanqing responded seriously, glancing at the distance.
Chen Yining’s bright red hair stood out in the crowd, walking beside Ji Shuzhu with a proud smile on her face.
Ji Shuzhu’s eyelids drooped lazily.
Even though these two had sharp personalities, when they were together, they didn’t stand out as much. They seemed more like close friends, just like the rest of the trainees gossiping, their relationship seemed very good.
In stark contrast, Xie Qingxuan embodied the essence of the Great Devil. Her platinum blonde hair shimmered ethereally, her lone figure cutting through the mist with a cold elegance. Unlike the others, she moved silently, apart from the crowd.
Chu Wang Shu exclaimed:
“Xie Qingxuan has such charisma—like the Great Devil!”
The Great Devil?
Chu Yuanqing suddenly felt familiar, a sense of recognition sparked in her chest. She shook her head in confusion. In her mind, the only ones fitting the title of the “Great Devil” were those who caused the earth to shake with each breath, the main city to collapse, and the earth’s crust to howl in agony – the Calamity God.
Even at her peak, facing an opponent of this level would require using the power of immortality, resurrecting hundreds of times, combining counterattacks with mental impacts, and layers of strengthening skills, just to defeat them with Levatin.
As for Xie Qingxuan, she was a girl with an elegant appearance, a somewhat cold and stubborn personality.
Well, in her eyes, the other participants were all pretty much the same.
After all, these trainees were not much older than her daughter, some even younger. In Chu Yuanqing’s mind, they were just like children.
Even Kirimi Miyuki, who shone brilliantly on stage, was still a girl who could make mistakes, get nervous, and feel flustered offstage.
“May I ask where you live?”
It was Kirimi Miyuki who spoke.
Chu Wang Shu felt like she was facing a great adversary, inexplicably experiencing the discomfort of her parents giving away her toys to someone else. Despite her upbringing, she stood quietly on the side, discreetly observing.
Chu Yuanqing didn’t hesitate and replied:
“Room 403 in Building F.”
Kirimi Miyuki pushed aside the strands of hair near her ear, her fair skin looking delicate. Her distinct black and white eyes were watery and pure. Her expression was quite serious on her innocent face.
Hmm, even with her hair tied in twin ponytails, she looks cute when serious.
“I live in Room 209 in Building C.”
“As a way to repay you for helping me earlier, let me help you too.”
Chu Yuanqing was momentarily puzzled by the extremely formal statement, and she asked in confusion:
“Help me?”
Kirimi Miyuki earnestly affirmed:
“Let’s practice the theme song dance together.”
Chu Yuanqing was shocked and stunned.
Despite calling it practicing together, just by watching her own performance, she knew how humble and tactful this statement was.
Kirimi Miyuki was simply there to be a free mentor, and maybe even get taken advantage of.
This kind of action is rare even in the fiercely competitive talent shows, let alone in ‘Dazzling Stage’.
Moreover, with her limited understanding of dance instruction, Kirimi Miyuki’s suggestion was like a blessing in disguise.
The key point is… She didn’t want to advance at all!
