Chapter 108 Part 2: You Only Have Six Days Left to Live (2)
Xie Qingxuan’s attention shifted successfully. She nodded with a serious expression.
“Little Qing, you’re right.”
Ji Shuzhu, unbothered by someone’s earlier question, pressed on,
“Dream Weaver Rabbit said we could practice dancing in the designated practice room.”
“Since our luggage is already packed, let’s head there first.”
Xie Qingxuan thought for a moment and added,
“We should bring clean clothes with us. Staying in the practice room will make practicing more efficient. Little Qing and I have done this before.”
Ji Shuzhu, who had previously treated the practice room as home with Chen Yining, found no issue with this plan. She nodded in agreement.
Chu Yuanqing sighed in relief. She silently thanked their good fortune in avoiding the dance battle loss. A natural golden retriever joining the team could have created awkward dynamics. Even now, she felt it was better not to let Xie Qingxuan and Ji Shuzhu spend too much time alone together.
If Xie Qingxuan started asking direct questions, the atmosphere would undoubtedly grow tense.
Just as the three friends prepared to pack their things, a knock sounded on the door.
Chu Yuanqing opened it to find a familiar face—the assistant, Chen Xiaoxiao.
Chen Xiaoxiao scanned the room briefly before speaking,
“Chu Yuanqing, Xie Qingxuan, Ji Shuzhu, please pack your bags and prepare to leave the base for a few days.”
Noticing their puzzled expressions, she smiled and added,
“Don’t worry, it’s a good thing. The program team is fulfilling their promise to you.”
Ji Shuzhu quickly connected the dots.
“Is this about the endorsement Dream Weaver Rabbit mentioned for Grade A players?”
Chen Xiaoxiao nodded.
“Exactly. For details, you’ll speak with the agent outside the base.”
“But don’t worry,” she reassured, “the endorsers chosen by the program have undergone thorough checks, and there are no major restrictions. If any issues arise in the future, Dazzling Stage will handle them.”
She continued,
“Considering the current competition format, the ad shoot will last no more than two to three days, so it won’t interfere with your stage performances.”
Xie Qingxuan did the math.
The competition would end in 24 days. Losing three days to the shoot left them with 21. Assuming the shoot went smoothly, they’d still have a week to train, then challenge someone, win, and prepare for the finals in two weeks.
Chu Yuanqing, meanwhile, saw this as just another part of her contract. Shooting ads sounded far easier than relying on tech to grind through 15-hour dance sessions.
As long as the endorsement wasn’t too strange… Surely Dazzling Stage wouldn’t make them endorse swimsuits, right?
Feeling reassured, she asked,
“So, we’re endorsing a series of products?”
Chen Xiaoxiao shook her head.
“No, at least not the three of you.”
With that, she turned and left quickly, leaving the trio to exchange curious glances. They realized they’d soon be shooting commercials—a situation oddly reminiscent of actors in a variety show.
Meanwhile, in the underground central hub, Dream Weaver Rabbit observed the Grade A players on the monitors. Its crimson eyes gleamed with sinister delight as a sharp smile spread across its face.
It whispered to itself,
“Daxia truly is remarkable, with its long history and massive population. Even across the entire Donghong Federation, there’s never been such a gathering of awakened Gemstones.”
“Of the six Grade A players, five have already awakened their Heart Flow abilities. Such a high ratio makes one wonder—was this stage destined by fate?”
It paused, considering.
“Even the saintess’s surroundings are unusual. Coincidence? Or pattern?”
“Or perhaps these radiant souls naturally attract each other?”
In the room, several holographic projections joined the conversation.
“Given the relationship between magic and souls, there’s merit to that idea.”
“Speaking of the saintess,” another chimed in, “she’s been briefed on certain calamities and will soon join the eradication plan.”
“True,” one murmured, “but it’s too early to compare Chu Yuanqing to that individual. She’s just 17—a child. An orphan with few ties to this world.”
Another voice interjected,
“This endorsement isn’t just about nurturing her Heart Flow. It’s also about ensuring she lacks nothing materially. A stable mind is crucial for magical girls. Joy keeps their souls intact.”
Dream Weaver Rabbit chuckled softly, its eyes glowing as it shifted its focus to another screen.
The Heart Flow training room chose its candidates independently. Players deemed unqualified faced the black mist from the Calamity Seed, which forcibly awakened their Heart Flow.
Of the 168 participants, 149 had entered the training room over the past six days. Of these, 144 required external help to awaken Heart Flow.
Some lacked resolve and were rejected by the black mist. Others, driven by sheer determination, endured the Nightmare Corridor, inching closer to Heart Flow.
Half of those who entered failed the first round of nightmares. Psychologists hypnotized them to erase the memories, sending them back to their original lives.
Among the determined survivors, two fueled by betrayal and hatred endured three rounds, awakening Heart Flow and preparing to seek vengeance.
But one stood out.
Dream Weaver Rabbit’s attention turned to Liang Xiaoxiao, who silently trained in the dance room.
“Strange,” it mused.
“Her initial data marked her as nothing more than a filler—a stepping stone. Yet, she survived four rounds of the Nightmare Corridor?”
Pulling up her data, it calculated soul activity and mental thresholds. Its smile widened mockingly.
“Even as a waste, she shows resilience. But with such poor data, her soul will collapse by the tenth round.”
Its crimson eyes sparkled with cruel amusement as it whispered,
“Liang Xiaoxiao, you only have six days left to live.”
After a pause, its smile twisted further.
“How about… I give you a gift?”
