Chapter 4: The Yang Family
The Yang Master and Old Yu were transported to a location five miles from the secret realm entrance.
By now, night had fallen outside, and they did not dare to pause for even a moment. They quickly ran in the direction of the Yang Family.
The Yang Family was located in Willow Leaf Town.
Although it was called a town, it actually had the scale of a small city.
Willow Leaf Town was under the rule of the Zhuhu Dynasty and was situated in the mountainous eastern region.
The Yang Master’s real name was Yang Guanfeng. Now at the fifth level of Gathering Qi, he was in the mid-stage of Gathering Qi, one of the four major stages.
Because of his presence, the Yang Family had transformed from an ordinary family of mortals into something greater.
As the head of the household, Yang Guanfeng, with Old Yu’s assistance, completed the internal organization and cleaning of the family, and he restarted the Yang family tree.
In just over ten years, the Yang Family had developed into the largest family in Willow Leaf Town, boasting two mid-stage cultivators, second only to the mayor’s influence.
The mayor was a cultivator sent by the dynasty, with a realm comparable to Yang Guanfeng, though his actual combat strength was slightly weaker.
However, he commanded an army and carried the title of "dynasty cultivator," so his status was still higher than Yang Guanfeng’s.
Using the cover of night and the detection ability of Old Yu’s magic disc, the two individuals avoided several groups of Loose cultivators who might have caused conflict along the way.
It was not until the second watch of the night that they approached Willow Leaf Town.
Upon seeing the familiar city walls, they exchanged a smile, both feeling relieved in their hearts.
The secret realm offered countless opportunities, but one must have a life to enjoy them.
Treasure hunting in the secret realm was very dangerous. If not for the thorough preparations made by Yang Guanfeng and Old Yu, they might have perished inside.
Six fire talismans, three thunder flame bullets, and a single use of a flying dagger almost depleted Yang Guanfeng’s funds.
Fortunately, they emerged safely in the end, which was a good outcome.
With these items, they had obtained a spiritual plant and a spiritual treasure, which was an excellent return on investment.
As they approached Willow Leaf Town, they did not take the main entrance but instead concealed their energy and quietly climbed over the wall from the southern side.
No one in the Yang Family was aware of their trip to the secret realm, believing that the two Elders were undergoing secluded cultivation in the Forbidden Area.
This was a decision they had made together to avoid attracting unwanted attention; thus, they chose to act discreetly and leave the town.
After passing over rows of houses, they could see the Yang Family’s large courtyard built against the mountain in the northern part of Willow Leaf Town.
The Yang Family’s courtyard was built squarely and divided into four distinct areas.
From the outside to the inside were the outer courtyard for receiving guests and hosting banquets, the inner courtyard for living and daily life, the family council hall, and lastly, the Forbidden Area that only Yang Guanfeng and Old Yu could access.
The two individuals finally landed in the Forbidden Area of the Yang Family.
The first thing to do upon their return was to quickly replant the four-leafed spirit-receiving grass.
Spiritual plants are different from ordinary plants; if planted in a regular field, they would lose their spiritual essence and degrade.
Only in a spiritual field can they grow normally and yield produce.
Yang Guanfeng’s ability to become the head of the family also showed his far-sightedness.
Years ago, even when they didn’t have a single spiritual plant in the family, he had been prepared, starting to open up spiritual fields with Old Yu.
After several years of effort, they had now created a suitable environment for the four-leafed spirit-receiving grass to grow.
Once the four-leafed spirit-receiving grass was replanted in the soil, the two individuals began to nurture it with their own spiritual power.
After an hour of this, they stopped as the spirit plant’s aura stabilized.
At that moment, Yang Guanfeng and Old Yu both let out a sigh of relief.
“Old Yu, you have worked hard on this journey.”
“There is no need for such words, Master,” Old Yu waved his hand and said, “If it weren’t for the Master’s rescue back then, I would have long become food for the fish in the river. There’s nothing more than this duty.”
“Speaking of which, it has been fifteen years since we met…”
Hearing their conversation, Chen Yang understood why this elder was so loyal to the Yang Family.
In his youth, he had been a cultivator in a sect, but after his sect was destroyed by enemies, he was severely injured and fled to the realm of the Zhuhu Dynasty, eventually falling into the Fish Ridge River.
At the brink of death, he was rescued by Yang Guanfeng, who paid a heavy price to save his life.
Although his cultivation had diminished greatly, simply recovering his life was more than enough for Old Yu.
From that day on, he wholeheartedly chose to follow Yang Guanfeng.
Yang Guanfeng’s journey on the path of cultivation and his rise to the head of the Yang Family were greatly supported by Old Yu.
“It’s getting late, Master, you should go rest. I will watch over the four-leafed spirit-receiving grass.”
“Alright, I leave it to you.”
Back in his room, Yang Guanfeng took out Chen Yang from his sleeve and held him in his hand.
Sitting on the meditation cushion, he quietly gazed at the Spirit Gathering Stone.
At that moment, he felt a sense of unreality.
His expression showed disbelief that the Yang Family had come into possession of such a significant opportunity.
After a moment, Yang Guanfeng snapped back to reality and placed Chen Yang on the table before turning around to remove his upper garment.
Upon seeing Yang Guanfeng’s upper body, Chen Yang was taken aback.
His chest and back were covered with numerous scars from knife wounds, sword wounds, burns, and other injuries, indicating the hardships Yang Guanfeng had endured for the family over the years.
“As the head of a family, being able to sacrifice this much for them truly shows his dedication.”
Chen Yang felt a sense of admiration for Yang Guanfeng.
At the same time, he felt he had not made the wrong choice.
Taking this step into the Yang Family seemed to have been the right decision.
The night passed without a word.
The next morning, all members of the Yang Family were summoned to the council hall.
At the front were three seats, with the center seat occupied by the head of the family, Yang Guanfeng. On either side sat two men in their thirties.
These were Yang Guanfeng’s two younger brothers, Yang Feiyun and Yang Xiaolei.
Below, relatives stood in order according to their bloodlines, all with their hands clasped and heads bowed, waiting for the Master’s arrival.
From this, it was clear that Yang Guanfeng held great prestige within the clan.
He had always shown outstanding ability and possessed the qualities of a leader. Following Old Yu’s teachings, he directly swept away other competitors within the clan and secured his position as head of the family ahead of time.
Moreover, he understood that for a family to develop long-term, unity was the most important factor.
Thus, from his position of power, he and Old Yu—one in the light and one in the shadows—worked together to build a stable foundation for the family.
After ten years of effort, the Yang Family had become a solidly united entity.
There was no discrimination between different bloodlines; regardless of closeness or distance, they all selected the capable.
Because of this fair and just approach, Yang Guanfeng had become the most respected head in the history of the Yang Family.
Before long, a gentle breeze swept into the Yang Family’s council hall.
Everyone lifted their eyes, and in the blink of an eye, Yang Guanfeng was already seated in the highest position.
No one present could see their movements clearly, which greatly heightened their respect for him.
With Yang Guanfeng’s appearance and his various thunderous methods, within ten years, the Yang Family had transformed from a normal family in Willow Leaf Town into a top-tier power.
They were deeply aware of this significant change, so their admiration for this Elder was entirely sincere, with no hint of falsehood.
“Yang Feiyun!"
“Yang Xiaolei!”
Once Yang Guanfeng settled into his seat, two family elders arose, calling out in unison, “Descendants of the Yang Family, bow to the Elder!”
