Chapter 11: Seeking Trouble for Oneself
As night fell, in a hidden chamber of the Wang Family, three Gathering Qi realm cultivators sat together.
"Have you found out for sure? Is their Master really at the mine?" Wang Xiong, the Master of the Wang Family, asked, draped in a tiger skin.
"Yes, we sent a merchant caravan pretending to have taken a wrong turn, and we saw Yang Guanfeng at the mine looking after the resources," replied Wang Lie, the second strongest in the Wang Family, seated to his left.
This man, thirty-eight years old and of similar age to Yang Guanfeng, was at the second level of Gathering Qi, while Yang Guanfeng had already reached the mid-stage at the fifth level.
"Then it seems the Yang Family only has a little kid who just started Gathering Qi left in their village?" spoke the young cultivator on the right.
He was Wang Wei yang, Wang Xiong’s child, and the third Gathering Qi cultivator of the Wang Family. He was sixteen years old and had broken through half a year ago.
"That’s right," Wang Lie confirmed.
The two men looked to Master Wang Xiong, awaiting his decision.
Previously, the three had discussed that they could not let the Yang Family live so comfortably; they needed to teach them a lesson and give them a warning.
However, implementing this plan proved difficult due to the Yang Family’s stronger strength.
But now they knew that both Yang Guanfeng and Elder Yu were absent from the Yang Family, which stirred their interest.
"Hmph! It is also time to shake the mountain and scare the tiger. Wang Lie, it’s better to strike while the iron is hot. Let’s do it tonight. You sneak into the Yang Family and scare that little one left behind. If possible, we want them to recall that old man from the town so that those shops of theirs won’t thrive," Wang Xiong decided after some contemplation.
"Absolutely, Master!" Wang Lie was thrilled to hear this.
He hadn’t battled anyone for a long time, and his previous setbacks still weighed heavily on his mind.
This time, facing a newly established Gathering Qi little kid, he finally had a chance to humiliate a weak opponent.
"Uncle, won’t it be dangerous to go alone? How about I go with you?" Wang Wei yang asked.
Upon hearing this, Wang Lie waved his hand, "Wei yang, dealing with a newly established first level of Gathering Qi is a piece of cake for me. Besides, two people make for a bigger target and are easier to catch."
Wang Xiong nodded in agreement with Wang Lie’s words.
"Master, you can trust me with this. I guarantee that after tonight, the Yang Family will be in a state of panic, mistaking every rustle of grass and wood for enemies!" Wang Lie vowed confidently, patting his chest.
The poor fellow had no idea what awaited him.
That night, Wang Lie donned a black outfit suited for night missions and, using the cover of darkness, left Baishi Town.
Channeling his spiritual power, he ran at full speed and reached the Yang Family village in just two hours.
As a cultivator, he easily bypassed the Yang Family’s guards.
After climbing over the wall, he made his way straight to the deepest part of the compound.
Upon entering the back yard, he found no signs of cultivators training. Just as he was curious, he looked up and saw the cliff nearby.
"Hehe, interesting," he said, leaping up to climb the rocky wall, and soon he spotted the characteristic outer wall of the Yang Family’s Forbidden Area.
"They’re sneaking it away here, but unfortunately, I, your grandpa, have still found it!" Wang Lie chuckled to himself, pleased with his sharp insight.
He then walked around the high wall, thinking, "Indeed, there’s a formation. Good thing I am well-prepared."
Next, he took out a black magnet from his waist.
This item was given to him by Wang Xiong before he left. After infusing it with spiritual energy, it could disrupt the operation of early-stage Gathering Qi formations, causing a brief malfunction.
Wang Lie poured in his spiritual power, and the formation of the Yang Family’s Forbidden Area indeed lost its effect.
He jumped up, feeling smug about having entered undetected.
Yang Lingqing, who was on night watch, truly didn’t sense his presence because the formation was ineffective, and the token connected to it did not react.
But Wang Lie could never have imagined that within the Yang Family’s Forbidden Area, there was another being, one who was extraordinarily sensitive to fluctuations of spiritual energy.
"Mm? The formation is down. I wonder if that old man is up to it; did he buy some fake goods?"
Chen Yang, looking up at the starry sky, was grumbling when suddenly he felt something.
Someone has entered.
And it’s a second-level Gathering Qi cultivator.
Chen Yang became cautious and quickly created a fluctuation of spiritual energy to awaken Yang Lingqing.
Yang Lingqing immediately snapped out of her semi-meditative state and looked at Chen Yang.
"The Spirit Gathering Stone is having fluctuations on its own?"
She stood up, intending to check it out, and casually picked up the sensing token beside her.
In just a brief moment, Yang Lingqing felt a tightness in her heart and realized something was wrong.
The sensing token had no flow of spiritual energy!
"The formation is down; someone has intruded into the Forbidden Area!"
She reacted quickly, grabbed the Spirit Gathering Stone, and woke Lingrui and Linghu from their rest to inform them.
Upon learning that someone had invaded the Forbidden Area, the three of them wore serious expressions.
This was the first time someone had invaded while the elders were away.
"What should we do, Qing?"
Yang Linghu and Yang Lingrui looked to Yang Lingqing; among the three, she was the smartest, so it was natural for her to make the decision.
Yang Lingqing’s mind raced as she thought; she and Linghu’s identities were still unknown outside, and they could not expose themselves prematurely.
"We currently don’t know how many people have come or their cultivation levels, so Lingrui, you need to take some risks and pretend to be in meditation in the courtyard."
"Understood, Qingjie."
"By the way, remember to suppress your cultivation to the First Level!"
"Got it."
Yang Lingrui arrived in the courtyard and sat on a mat, pretending to meditate.
Yang Linghu and Yang Lingqing concealed their presence, hiding inside the room.
Before long, a sneaky shadow appeared in the courtyard.
Yang Lingrui did not hide his aura, making it easy for Wang Lie to find him.
"It’s this kid!"
Wang Lie looked at Yang Lingrui, thinking, "Wow, he looks like he’s just over ten years old, even younger than Weiyang."
Originally, he intended to scare this kid and create some trouble for the Yang Family.
But upon seeing Yang Lingrui in person, he had other thoughts.
A Gathering Qi realm cultivator this young.
If he were allowed to grow steadily in the future, the Yang Family would surely become even more powerful.
That would not do!
Would my Wang Family still have a chance to compete then?
In an instant, Wang Lie pondered many things.
His gaze gradually became cold and fierce, and his mind changed.
"To kill him would definitely be excessive, but… crippling him a bit is still acceptable!"
With his decision made, he didn’t hesitate at all, finding the right angle before suddenly charging at Yang Lingrui.
In Wang Lie’s view, his realm was higher than his opponent’s, and he was launching a sneak attack from the shadows; there was no way it could be blocked or dodged.
However, it was unfortunate that his judgment was based on false information from the beginning to the end.
First, Yang Lingrui was also at the second level of Gathering Qi, just like him.
Secondly, he was not mysterious at all; the moment he entered the courtyard, the three kids were already aware of him.
Wang Lie raised his hand and struck towards Yang Lingrui.
The latter suddenly opened his eyes and raised his hand to block the strike, his aura instantly surging to the second level of Gathering Qi.
"Second level of Gathering Qi! How is that possible!?"
Wang Lie was shocked, stunned by his opponent’s true cultivation level.
But since he had already made his move, there was no turning back. He summoned his spiritual energy and prepared to continue battling Yang Lingrui.
Just then, the ground beneath him suddenly became muddy, and his entire body felt as if it was being pulled by something.
"What the hell?!"
Before he could react, a figure burst out from the room and landed a punch on his chest.
"Thud!"
Wang Lie immediately spat out blood and fell flat on his back.
This man was indeed unlucky; Yang Linghu had just successfully cultivated this technique to the first level of Gathering Qi yesterday, and now it was being used on him as a test subject.
On the ground, Wang Lie felt a wave of dizziness in his brain, trying to move but realizing that his body was tightly stuck in the mud.
