Chapter 21: Three Grand Acts
"Leopard King!"
Old Monkey looked around, his body radiating a fierce killing intent, making no attempt to hide it.
From the moment the God of Wealth entered their detection range to the outbreak of their "rebellion," how much time had passed?
In such a short span, how did the Leopard King manage to appear just outside the city?
"Everyone, cease fighting!"
"Obey my command!"
"Defend against the enemy!"
"Slay the Leopard King!"
Old Monkey raised his right hand and bellowed.
As his words echoed, he draped himself in a purple-golden battle robe. The usually frail Old Monkey now looked like a formidable God of War.
Upon hearing Old Monkey’s command, the leaders of the Monkey Kingdom, who were engaged in combat above, stopped fighting in perfect unison and began to charge towards the city’s outskirts.
At that moment, except for the critically injured Anger Liar, who was left with only half a head, everyone else followed the Monkey King out of the city to face the enemy.
"Anger Liar, the future of our clan rests on you!"
As he flew away from the city, the Monkey King sent a mental message to Anger Liar.
According to their original plan, when the God of Wealth entered their detection range, they would stage a rebellion in their kingdom.
To lure the God of Wealth into attacking them, they had arranged three grand acts.
The first act involved Anger Liar’s rebellion to assassinate the king. The Ten Great Generals would surround and attempt to kill Anger Liar. At his most desperate moment, a general would come to his aid, during which Anger Liar would sustain severe injuries.
The second act had Anger Liar summon the Black Flag Army while the gates of Monkey King City were left undefended, allowing the God of Wealth to enter the city quietly.
During this act, Anger Liar would also be besieged and severely injured, pretending to be on the brink of death.
While carrying out the second act, upon noticing the God of Wealth’s caution, they decided to make the injuries real to avoid any suspicion of deceit.
The third act, the most crucial, was a chaotic battle!
As Anger Liar faced imminent execution, the Eight Spirit Vein Masters would intervene from all sides, aiming to defeat the generals and support the East Spirit Vein Master to claim the throne!
Thus, chaos would ensue, and the battle would begin!
The outcome of this battle was prearranged; regardless of how the fighting unfolded, the Ten Great Generals and the Eight Spirit Vein Masters would all fall throughout the palace, all… grievously injured!
The various armies within Monkey King City would descend into chaos, unable to distinguish friend from foe.
Only the Monkey King, who was supposed to die according to the grand act’s plan, would watch everything coldly, acting as the ultimate Hidden Hand behind the scenes.
After the God of Wealth was lured into the palace, he wouldn’t strike immediately.
The God of Wealth would undoubtedly seek out the severely injured generals to hunt down. During the hunt, if a general could use their critical condition to counterattack the God of Wealth, it would result in a favorable outcome for all.
If not, at the opportune moment, he would don the royal robe and armor, feigning to be at his last breath.
After the God of Wealth hunted down the general and the vein master, securing some gains, his mental guard must have slipped.
The shrewd God of Wealth likely saw himself as a fish in a barrel, convinced he had "figured it all out." When he strikes, he plans to effortlessly eliminate the God of Wealth and snatch the fortune!
This way, he aims to liberate his clan from this endless trap!
They were well aware that the God of Wealth’s trials were designed to claim their lives as proof of his success.
Given this, it was crucial for them to seize this chance.
To ensure no slip-ups, to keep the God of Wealth unsuspecting, and for the future of their clan!
They had to play their roles convincingly, staking their entire kingdom, with all generals and vein masters risking their lives, hoping the God of Wealth… would bite!
But who could have anticipated the Leopard King’s untimely interference?
With the Leopard King’s arrival, their original plan was derailed.
Otherwise, before they could claim the fortune, the Leopard King might lead his Leopard Kingdom’s army to flatten their royal city!
"King…"
"I… will try my best…"
Anger Liar’s feeble voice reached them, and this weak sound only stoked the Monkey King’s fury.
Meanwhile, the Leopard King was baffled.
He had merely come to check things out and enjoy the breeze, intrigued by the Golden Pillar that soared into the sky in the Monkey Kingdom.
Stories of the God of Wealth were also known in the Leopard Kingdom.
But he wasn’t certain, so he decided to investigate. If it turned out to be nothing, he’d find a chance to strike the Monkey Kingdom and possibly grab some resources.
However, upon arrival, he discovered the Monkey Kingdom was in revolt?
And from the looks of it, they were already in a frenzy.
Tsk tsk!
A top general had fallen, and the rest of the Monkey Kingdom’s high-ranking fighters were all wounded.
The Black Flag Army, tasked with guarding the gates, had deserted!
Most importantly, from the earlier roars, it seemed the Monkey King had perished.
Faced with such an opportunity, if he didn’t attack the Monkey Kingdom, even his ancestors would rise from their graves to slap him!
But just as he roared, ready to attack the Monkey Kingdom, how did that old Monkey King emerge clad in battle robes?
Wasn’t he supposed to be dead?
And what about the others? Why had they stopped fighting?
Was the rebellion just a joke?
He only roared once, didn’t he?
Why were they looking so fierce, as if they wanted to skin him alive?
"Secret technique!"
"Bloodline Burn!"
The Monkey King let out a deafening roar towards the sky, his voice shaking the heavens.
In an instant, the sky turned a dark, blood-red hue, signaling that the Monkey King was about to unleash his ultimate move.
Beside him, all the top-tier warriors of the Monkey Kingdom roared in unison, activating their most deadly techniques, burning their life force and bloodline in the process.
Normally, they wouldn’t make a sound during combat.
After all, shouting while preparing a special move would just tip off the enemy, wouldn’t it?
“Hey, I’m about to unleash something big, so watch out!”
But today was different. After their initial rage, the Monkey Kingdom’s leaders quickly devised a plan.
Since the Leopard King’s attack was inevitable and they couldn’t stop it, they decided to use it to their advantage.
They would all leave the city and engage in a desperate battle—or at least make it look like they were fighting to the death in the eyes of the God of Wealth.
This left only the severely wounded Anger Liar behind in Monkey King City.
In the past, when the Monkey Kingdom’s high-level combatants were present, even if injured, the cautious God of Wealth might hesitate to enter Monkey King City, fearing an ambush.
But now, they had all left!
Every capable fighter had gone!
Not only had they left, but they were also howling as they burned their life force to fight the Leopard King with everything they had.
Inside Monkey King City, only the dying Anger Liar remained.
What a perfect opportunity!
They had everything on their side: timing, terrain, and the element of surprise!
They had cleared every obstacle for the God of Wealth.
Even if the God of Wealth was cautious, since he was here to train, he should take the bait, right?
If he still didn’t enter, they’d have to come up with another plan.
All they needed now was for the God of Wealth to hunt down Anger Liar; then all their sacrifices would be worth it.
Meanwhile, outside the city.
“Is the rebellion in Monkey King City fake?” Su Wen asked, surprised. “It looks so real—even that Golden Light Monkey was beaten to a pulp. Was it all just an act?”
“Was it all just to lure the Leopard King here?”
“Hmm… and then use the home-field advantage, along with the Leopard King’s underestimation of the Monkey Kingdom, to crush him.”
“Damn!”
“These monkeys are pretty clever, huh?”
