Chapter 135: The God of Wealth’s Funeral
"There’s no way around it," the Star God began. "We’ve prepared everything to head to Arrow Realm No. 09 for the God of Wealth’s fall. And honestly, I don’t fully trust the beings from the Arrow Realm. Given our opposing relationship with them, I have my doubts about the authenticity of the Bug Spirit Clan’s statements."
After speaking, the Star God glanced at Fighting God and sighed softly. Fighting God’s tendency to consider others is admirable, but from the perspective of the Arrow Realm beings, such thinking might not be appropriate given the current situation. Had he already forgotten about the spiritual bugs planted by the Velier clan and Huahuaz clan at his yin point? Could a few words and some deceptive actions really earn the trust of a god?
"Fighting God, I have some advice for you," the Star God said after a moment’s thought. "In the future, before you do anything—like making friends, dating, or even engaging in activities that continue life—try to get some input from me, the God of Theater, and the God of Wealth. It might help you in the long run."
Fighting God: “?”
What had he done now? He was just following the Star God’s orders during the battle at Arrow Realm of Magic City No. 09. Did he fall into another trap? Damn, this world is full of them!
"Alright," Fighting God nodded, feeling a bit awkward about the Star God’s request but decided to follow the advice for the sake of his future. The complexities were overwhelming, and sometimes he felt his brain just couldn’t keep up.
"God of Wealth, you should prepare as well," the Star God said softly. "Tomorrow, the state will hold a funeral for the God of Wealth. A state funeral! A grand ceremony that will bring honor to the family. When the time comes, you will attend as the God of Martial Arts."
Su Wen: “……”
So, he was supposed to attend his own funeral? Although he had done so before and was somewhat accustomed to it, this was the state’s funeral, the God of Wealth’s funeral… it all felt quite bizarre.
"Okay, I understand," Su Wen replied.
"And taking advantage of the funeral, maybe we can quietly share some details about the Arrow Realm and the fate bearers with the public," the Star God suggested. "Aren’t you working on a Martial Arts Monthly publication? This could be the perfect time to introduce the Body Refinement Method and martial arts to everyone."
"Later, even if the Arrow Realm and the fate bearers become common knowledge, people will look back and see the hints we’ve been dropping," he continued. "Smart folks will realize that the country has been subtly pointing towards these truths all along, even if they didn’t catch on at first."
"With these hints, even if some try to stir up trouble, public opinion will likely calm down quickly. After all, the country isn’t trying to hide the truth or deceive the public; it’s just that the situation hasn’t allowed for full disclosure yet."
Su Wen nodded slightly, then asked, "What about the cause of the God of Wealth’s death? Should we reveal that?"
The Star God thought for a moment. "To the public, the God of Wealth is a martyr, a national hero who sacrificed for the country. The fall of the first ‘God’ title fate bearer in Huaxia is significant, so we’ll make a brief announcement."
"The God of Wealth died on July 28, 2022, during an exploration of Arrow Realm number 09 in Magic City. Since we’re making this public, we need to ensure everything is thorough and leaves no room for doubt."
Su Wen sighed softly. "Dying during an Arrow Realm exploration—sounds familiar," he mused. It reminded him of his own experiences crossing time and space. "If I didn’t know that the God of Wealth in sub-timelines never dies, I’d think my previous death reports were fake."
"Dying in an Arrow Realm exploration—what a familiar yet strange way to go," he reflected.
"What’s on your mind?" the Star God asked, noticing Su Wen’s expression.
"Nothing, just feeling a bit nostalgic about this way of dying," Su Wen replied, shaking his head. He hadn’t fully processed the idea of the God of Wealth’s supposed fall in Magic City number 09 earlier. Now, it struck him as a return to traditional ways of dying.
"Don’t worry, many fate bearers die during Arrow Realm explorations every year, both here and abroad," the Star God reassured him. "Those in the Arrow Realm know a battle is inevitable, so they take every chance to weaken us."
"Even though ‘God’ title fate bearers are strong, it’s not unusual for a non-combatant like the God of Wealth to fall. We’ve given them enough reasons and excuses."
He paused, then added, "We’re learning about the beings from the Arrow Realm, and they’re learning about us too—through our books, music, architecture, and art. They’re trying to understand human thought patterns through our history and culture."
"The God of Theater and I have discussed this. We believe the Arrow Realm might one day use our own ways of thinking against us. We’ve prepared some countermeasures."
"My point is, the beings from the Arrow Realm know about our history of conflict. They’ll see how intense and sharp our internal struggles are. So, it makes sense for them to target you, the God of Wealth, either directly or by collaborating with other fate bearers."
"We don’t need to give them reasons; they’ll find their own."
Su Wen’s eyes showed a flicker of understanding. He remembered how cunning those monkeys were during his training—using ambushes and strategies against the Leopard King. Now, he realized his own importance; his luck could drive the beings from the Arrow Realm to extremes.
"So, the spiritual bug near Fighting God’s rear—is that the Arrow Realm’s way of studying human thought patterns?" Su Wen asked.
"Sort of, but that’s too basic to count," the Star God replied. "If they make real progress, they won’t just plant a spiritual bug; they’ll try to alter his thoughts directly."
Nearby, Fighting God’s mouth twitched as Su Wen and the Star God kept mentioning the location of his spiritual bug. He didn’t mind the discussion, but the repeated focus on its location was a bit embarrassing.
