Chapter 212: Sister, I Think I Saw a Green Light
In the center of a wide grassland, on a flat road, warhorses neighed, their steps uneven, startling clusters of fireflies.
The moonlight spilled hazily down, shining the knight’s armor brightly.
Elise and Eve sat side by side in a carriage pulled by Swift Beast, gazing into the endless plain.
The car used to be an open-top horse carriage, but it was reinforced and now looks like a war chariot. It’s not as comfortable as a regular carriage, but it’s sturdy and safe.
Under the seats, there’s a small magic device that, when moved, creates a small defensive barrier. The rain canopy also has a mechanism – pulling a handle will make it automatically rise.
The cushions and backrest are like a sofa, allowing people to sit longer without getting a sore back.
Eve leaned against the backrest, holding onto the armrest, and was lost in thought, with her head slightly lowered.
It wasn’t until the road became bumpy that she noticed her sister Elise looking dazed, pursing her lips unhappily. Eve immediately became concerned.
"Sister, what’s wrong? Are you tired? Lean on my shoulder and rest for a while."
Eve’s army was racing against time. According to her plan, it would take at least another two hours to reach the far southern city.
After a rest outside the far south city and replenishing supplies for three days, they would continue their journey lightly.
Elise was still daydreaming when she felt a hand on her head, making her blush and bow her head shyly.
"Don’t worry, big sister, I’m not tired, but I really miss Little Rin!"
Eve chuckled softly, fixing the tassels on her cloak, then said, "So, my dear little sister, are you missing your fiancé? It’s only been two days since he left, how come you’re lovesick already?"
"Meow."
Elise softly made a habit of sound, cheeks blushing deeper, twirling the pocket watch Rin gave her in her hands, the longing in her eyes almost tangibly flowing out.
"Even though we’ve had a day or two apart during the holidays, it’s not the same… Just the thought of not seeing Little Rin for at least a month, it feels like a piece of my heart is missing…"
Eve caught sight of the pocket watch in Elise’s hand, a hint of envy flashing in her eyes, but she still reached out caringly to rest Elise’s head on her shoulder, giving her a gentle pat.
"Even in love, it’s important not to be together all the time. Relax, he’ll miss you too."
"Meow, I hope Emilia, that naughty cat, won’t tease Little Rin. He’s too gullible, I’m really worried."
"Well… he is a hero after all, although he seems difficult to talk to, he should understand a little bit of reason. Before he left, I specifically advised her a lot about being unpredictable."
"The words of advice didn’t work on Little Rin, he was trained well by his mother. It’s all her fault for teaming up Little Rin with silly Emilia."
Eve was also full of doubts. She had mentioned to her mother before that Miss Hero and Little Rin had a very close and unusual relationship.
Although her mother was getting more and more forgetful, she couldn’t have been oblivious to the fact that she was pushing her son-in-law away, right?
Huh, why keep it a secret? It’s like keeping the good stuff to yourself.
"I can write a letter as soon as Little Rin gets back on shore. Little Rin~Little Rin~Little Rin~"
The daydreaming Grand Princess even forgot to comfort her sister.
Elise thought her sister was thinking about the war, so she didn’t bother her. She just quietly leaned on her sister’s shoulder and continued to stare at the pocket watch in her hand.
"Princess, princess!"
Suddenly, there was some commotion in the distance. A knight came riding on horseback. When he reached the guards, he quickly dismounted and knelt down on one knee, looking a bit nervous.
Eve signaled the driver to stop the car and looked over at the kneeling knight.
"What’s wrong?"
"Reporting to Your Highness, it seems like the scouts from the fourth team drank contaminated water, and now they all have severe stomach pain. Even the Therapist with the army is unable to help, so… I dare to request…"
Before he could finish speaking, Elise put away her pocket watch, stood up, and said, "I’ll handle this."
"Thank you, Your Highness, the Second Princess!"
"No need to thank me, this is what I should do."
In front of others, Elise once again became the kind and dignified little princess that everyone loved.
Following the knight, they came to an open space surrounded by soldiers.
When the soldiers saw Elise, they respectfully made way and saluted.
Elise moved closer and saw nine soldiers, most of them had black lips and were rolling on the ground holding their stomachs.
Beside her, the Therapist quickly said, "Your Highness, I have investigated and it’s not poison."
The silly elk looked around and suddenly frowned, "Let me see their eyes."
The people writhing in pain on the ground couldn’t open their eyes, so the soldiers next to them held them down and forced their eyelids open.
Elise immediately noticed a deep purple color spreading rapidly from the pupils to the corners of the eyes, then disappearing.
"Hmm, it’s dark magic from the demon race, not good."
"In other words, the apostles of Witchcraft may already be within our borders."
Speaking was Eve, who had also come over, with a serious expression.
Compared to Elise, Eve seemed much more imposing, dressed in a tight white knight’s attire with a white cloak trimmed in gold, looking luxurious and majestic, her long pink wavy hair flowing down, adding to her beauty.
Elise nodded, took out her wand, held it with both hands, closed her eyes, and started chanting.
"Purification Spell, cleanse…"
A white light started spreading from in front of her, dropping little white lights on the patients’ bodies, and being absorbed directly.
Within a few meters, everything was enveloped in a white halo.
After a while, the people on the ground regained their calm complexion, and their dark lips began to lose their distressed look.
Just as Elise was about to stop casting the Purification Spell, the white light suddenly turned a gloomy green.
The silly elk was startled, hopping in place and then taking two steps back.
The green light flashed briefly, and no one else noticed it, perhaps it was just an illusion.
The silly elk rubbed its eyes, tilted its head in confusion, wondering what was going on.
Not just the green light, she felt a bit nervous and out of breath now, her ahoge hair swaying from side to side, and jumping alertly from time to time.
"Little sister, what’s wrong?" Eve asked with concern, "Can’t the Purification Spell get rid of it?"
"Ah…no."
The silly elk shook its head, suppressing the feeling of someone stealing its beloved strawberry yogurt cake, and solemnly said.
"The voodoo on them has been cleared, but sister, we better go check the place where they drank water."
"Well, little sister, don’t worry, I will handle this matter."
"Um…sister, did you see the green light just now?"
