“Don’t push my patience!”
Qiao Ziman’s temper had clearly hit its limit. She abruptly let go of Chi Yin’s hand and spun around, ready to charge straight at Elvis—only to find Chi Yin beating her to the punch. Qiao Ziman stopped in her tracks without even realizing it.
In that moment, Chi Yin stood before Elvis with her brows tightly knitted. An imposing fury radiated from her, like a lion whose mane had been ruffled. She confronted Elvis head-on, locking eyes with her, and spat out a single, rage-filled word:
“Get lost.”
It was the first time Qiao Ziman had ever heard Chi Yin swear. So domineering…
Her heart gave a little lurch.
I want to kiss her.
Ignoring Elvis’s darkening expression, Qiao Ziman stepped closer, took Chi Yin’s hand, and said, “I want to go home. It’s kind of urgent.”
Little by little, Chi Yin reined in her fierce aura. When she turned to face Qiao Ziman, her eyes had already softened. “All right.”
They left together, treating Elvis like thin air.
Once they arrived home, Qiao Ziman greeted her mother, He Cuizhen, then led Chi Yin upstairs. From where she was sweeping in the hallway, He Cuizhen called after them, “You two youngsters, don’t overdo it, okay?”
Chi Yin paused mid-step as the memory of those finger condoms resurfaced in her mind. A faint flush crept up the tips of her ears, clearly visible.
Qiao Ziman, however, seemed unfazed. She arched a brow. “If you don’t have fun while you’re young, you’ll be too old to do anything when you finally want to. Don’t worry about us!” Then she added, “And don’t come upstairs for at least an hour.”
With that, she dragged Chi Yin into the bedroom.
As soon as the door closed, Qiao Ziman pushed Chi Yin onto the bed, propping herself on her hands by either side of Chi Yin’s shoulders.
“Yin Yin.”
Chi Yin stared straight at her. Suddenly, she lifted a hand and gently wiped something shiny from the corner of Qiao Ziman’s mouth. “You’re drooling.”
Qiao Ziman blinked. “That’s not important.”
Chi Yin blinked back, clearly taken aback. Why is my girlfriend looking at me with such a heated gaze today? She’s like a wolf ready to pounce…
Qiao Ziman hooked her finger under Chi Yin’s chin and gazed down at her. “Sweetheart, you really hit me hard today.”
Chi Yin looked puzzled. “Huh?”
“When you cursed at Elvis earlier, you looked so cool. It made me want to kiss you.”
Leaning in, she pressed a soft, lingering kiss to Chi Yin’s lips. Their breaths mingled, and a moment later, she murmured, “By the way, has the safe been moved yet?”
Chi Yin nodded and pointed to the corner of the room. Qiao Ziman’s eyes lit up. She hopped off the bed and, a moment later, returned holding a length of restraint rope and a small pink dolphin-shaped toy. Waving them excitedly, she announced, “I want to reward you.”
Chi Yin raised an eyebrow. “You’ve gotten bolder lately.”
Qiao Ziman shrugged.
“It’s not like it’s our first or second time. There’s no point being all shy about it. They say a healthy sex life helps strengthen a relationship.” She paused, then added proudly, “That’s what my mom told me.”
Chi Yin was momentarily speechless, then let out a soft laugh. “All right.”
Qiao Ziman held the rope out again. “Shall we?”
Their gazes locked, the air suddenly thick with heat. In a husky voice, Chi Yin replied, “Yes.”
Night blanketed the room as their silhouettes tangled together. Soft murmurs, mingling with the sound of water, rose and fell until the tension eased.
Afterward, Qiao Ziman curled up in Chi Yin’s arms, eyes still damp with lingering warmth. Chi Yin gently patted her back in a soothing rhythm. Catching her breath, Qiao Ziman eased herself away just enough to rest against Chi Yin’s soft embrace.
“Yin Yin,” she murmured.
Chi Yin lazily toyed with the ends of Qiao Ziman’s hair. “Mm?”
“You’ve gotten pretty impressive too,” Qiao Ziman said, her voice low. “Keep it up.”
Chi Yin gave a modest laugh. “Oh, I’m sure there’s still room for improvement.”
They rested in each other’s arms for a while before Qiao Ziman turned over and brought up what had happened earlier that day.
“I told you I made five million,” she said. “Aren’t you curious?”
Chi Yin replied calmly, “I am.”
“If you’re curious, why didn’t you ask?”
Chi Yin’s gaze was gentle. “If it was something you wanted me to know, you’d tell me.”
“Ugh, you…” Qiao Ziman grumbled playfully. “Why do you have to be so nice?” She leaned in and gave Chi Yin another quick kiss before continuing, “Anyway, I lied to your mom about that money.”
Chi Yin blinked. “Huh?” Why is every word Qiao Qiao says so confusing?
Qiao Ziman pouted, muttering under her breath, “I know lying isn’t good, but they kept bullying you.” She went on to explain the whole story in detail, leaving Chi Yin completely stunned.
“Anyway,” Qiao Ziman added, “I’ll give you the bank card in a bit. Whether you want to give the money back to her or do something else with it is up to you.”
They fell silent for a moment. Then Chi Yin gave her a thumbs-up and praised her without reservation. “My girlfriend is amazing.”
Qiao Ziman grinned. “Since I’m giving it to you, just keep it. The head of the household has spoken.”
“That won’t do.” Qiao Ziman hooked her finger around Chi Yin’s hand, sounding a bit guilty. “I don’t feel right accepting it.”
Chi Yin flicked Qiao Ziman’s forehead teasingly. “You didn’t sound so guilty when you were fooling my mother.”
“All right, let’s go eat. My mom’s probably getting impatient.”
Chi Yin glanced at the string of urging messages from He Cuizhen on her phone, then relented. “Fine.”
They headed downstairs and had dinner together. Afterward, worn out from their earlier “exercise,” Qiao Ziman turned in early for the night.
Once she was sound asleep, Chi Yin waited a bit before quietly slipping out of bed. She went down to the first floor, took a bottle of red wine from the cabinet, and settled by the window to drink, glass by glass.
Only then did she allow her worries and anxieties to surface.
I never expected Chi Qilan to show up and meet Qiao Qiao this soon.
Though Qiao Ziman handled it brilliantly today, what about next time? Can we really keep getting this lucky?
With her absence from the company, Chi Yin felt powerless about leaving Qiao Ziman to face these trials alone. It was the first time she had felt so out of control.
And then there was Elvis.
She definitely won’t let this go. I must have completely provoked her today.
What did Elvis’s last remark mean? Was it some kind of warning?
Could she hurt Qiao Qiao?
At that thought, a cold sweat broke out across Chi Yin’s forehead and her whole body trembled uncontrollably.
No.
Her grip on the wine glass tightened. She had to find a way to fix this—and soon.
