It was a rainy night in London. A heavy downpour soaked the streets. She had just finished a late-night shift and was walking back to her rented apartment. The route passed through a dim, narrow alley—one of the city’s notoriously chaotic spots.
From a distance, she saw a group of young men surrounding a filthy, rain-soaked girl.
The alley was damp and dark, notorious for its chaos and danger. From a distance, Chi Yin saw a group of young men surrounding a girl, her clothes soaked and stained with filth. They hurled insults at her, their words vile and degrading.
Yet, despite the obvious danger, the girl’s gaze remained fierce—like she wanted to tear them apart with her bare hands.
Of course, that only provoked them further.
The leader raised his hand and struck her across the face. Her head snapped to the side, blood seeping from the corner of her tightly pressed lips. Chi Yin hesitated, torn between stepping in and the reality that she was alone and outnumbered.
But before she could decide, the girl snapped.
Without warning, she launched herself at them like a wild beast, reckless and unrelenting. Scratching, biting—every time they knocked her down, she got back up. Whenever she found an opening, she went straight for their weakest spots.
Low blows, eyes, temples—she didn’t hold back.
The alley erupted in screams and curses. Then, they overpowered her again. Fists rained down like a brutal storm, but she never made a sound.
Chi Yin could see it—if this kept up, they were going to kill her.
She had no time to think. She shouted at the top of her lungs, “Police!”
The group hesitated for a split second at the mention of the police. And in that instant, the girl seized her chance. She grabbed a jagged rock from the ground and, without holding back, smashed it against the leader’s head.
Blood gushed instantly, but she didn’t stop.
Again. And again.
The relentless attack sent the rest of the gang into a panic. They scrambled to pull their injured friend away before bolting in all directions.
Chi Yin exhaled, her voice steady. “That girl was Elvis.”
“…What?”
Qiao Ziman flipped over, pressing against Chi Yin’s soft curves. “Wow. So you just invited a wolf into your home, huh?”
Chi Yin pursed her lips, neither confirming nor denying it. “That night, she told me about her past. She was an orphan—abandoned at birth. A foreigner family adopted her, but they treated her like she wasn’t even human. She eventually escaped.”
Qiao Ziman clicked her tongue. “Tch. That’s… actually pretty tragic.”
Chi Yin continued, “After that, she started working with me. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but she kept showing up in my life more and more. Gradually, she never left my side.”
It reached a breaking point the moment Chi Yin confided in Elvis about the person she had loved for years.
That was the trigger.
Her possessiveness exploded.
“She started monitoring my entire life. My movements, my routine. She refused to let anyone near me—unless it was her. Of course, I’ve told her to stay away from me countless times. I don’t even consider her a friend anymore—you can rest easy on that.”
“Heh, that was a quick clarification,” Qiao Ziman scoffed, clicking her tongue twice. “What, is she treating you like her salvation now? The lone beam of light shining into her dark little world?”
She narrowed her eyes.
“Does she want to own you?” Jealousy flared in her voice. “Tsk. My little demon is way too charming.”
Chi Yin smirked teasingly. “Well, I do have a bit of charm, but…” She changed her tone smoothly. “Didn’t you already claim me for yourself?”
Qiao Ziman huffed. “Smooth talker.”
But Chi Yin’s expression soon turned serious again as she returned to the earlier topic. “Stay away from her. Promise me.”
Qiao Ziman pouted. “What, you think she’s gonna do something to me? We live in a law-abiding society!”
If only that were true…
That lunatic was capable of anything.
Chi Yin could still remember—there was once a man who had boldly pursued her, making his intentions crystal clear. Elvis saw him.
The next day, he got into a car accident.
Chi Yin had always suspected it was Elvis’s doing. She had no concrete proof—but the timing had been too perfect. She considered telling Qiao Ziman but decided against it. She didn’t want to scare her.
Instead, she met Qiao Ziman’s gaze, her voice firm. “Just this once, listen to me. I won’t allow anything to happen to you. Not even the slightest misstep. Not one bit. Trust me, I will handle this. Just promise me—don’t get into a direct conflict with her.”
Qiao Ziman smoothed the little furrow forming between Chi Yin’s brows, then flicked her forehead with a snap of her fingers. “Idiot. What do you mean you will handle it? We face things together.”
She softened her tone when she noticed how tense Chi Yin’s shoulders were.
“Relax, okay? At work, I’ll keep my distance—we won’t step on each other’s toes. And even if she tries to mess with me, so what? Worst case, I’ll quit. You think your big sister Qiao wouldn’t land on her feet? If you’re really that worried, just pick me up after work. Keep me chained to your side 24/7. Problem solved.”
Chi Yin’s expression eased a little. But after a moment, her brows furrowed again. “I should warn you—my mother thinks highly of her. She’ll probably try to come between us.”
“Oh, for the love of—” Qiao Ziman groaned, shifting her weight. Her arms were getting tired from propping herself up, so she flopped onto Chi Yin. Then, without hesitation, she bit down on Chi Yin’s lower lip.
Chi Yin inhaled sharply. “Hiss—!”
Qiao Ziman let go, her voice full of mock fierceness. “That’s so you remember this! Listen up, Chi! I’m dating you, not your mom! As long as I don’t want to break up, I don’t care if it’s your mother or the freaking Emperor of Heaven—no one is stopping me!!!”
So fierce.
So damn attractive.
A slow smile bloomed in Chi Yin’s eyes as she gazed at her. “My girlfriend is so domineering.”
Qiao Ziman lifted her chin proudly. “Oh, I can be even more domineering. Your explanations are one thing, but punishment is still necessary. Who told you, little demon, to go around seducing people left and right?”
With that, she directly captured Chi Yin’s lips. She pried open her mouth, bold and unrelenting, taking complete control.
By the time the kiss finally ended, Chi Yin’s gaze was hazy, her breathing unsteady. She looked at Qiao Ziman and asked in a teasing tone, “Last time, you asked me to give you a chance to be on top. Are you ready now?”
Without hesitation, Qiao Ziman declared, “Nope. I still don’t know how!”
Chi Yin: “…”
Before Chi Yin could respond, Qiao Ziman suddenly pulled the belt from around her waist. Looping it around Chi Yin’s wrists, she gently lifted her arms, pinning them above her head.
“But… I can use my mouth.”
