Chapter 15: The Lord of Destruction
With a thunderous roar, ice shards exploded in all directions as You Wuxie shattered through the icy crust of Yiming Peak, striding across the void with a countenance as cold as the wintry landscape he traversed. Snow and wind whipped through the area, blanketing it in a layer of frost, yet the chill was no match for the ice in You Wuxie’s eyes.
You Wuxie seethed with rage. A moment of inattention had left him vulnerable to an attack from the so-called Earth Demon Sword, embedding him within the mountain’s heart. Yuming Peak was home to cultivators of the malevolent path, and such a disgraceful scene had been witnessed by his peers.
His robes fluttered as You Wuxie materialized before Fengyun Wuji, who lay prostrate on the ground, his hands buried in the earth, gasping for breath. At the sound of You Wuxie’s footsteps, Fengyun Wuji, without lifting his head, chuckled, “So, is it time to fight?” He then resumed his labored breathing.
“Do you think I should not?” You Wuxie retorted, his features etched with a frigid severity.
“I was merely using the opportunity to expel the chaotic sword energy within me. With your profound skills, could you have been injured by the Earth Demon Sword I’ve cultivated these past few years? Since you were unharmed, is there really a need for such anger?” Fengyun Wuji raised his head, his voice neutral.
This nonchalance irked You Wuxie. When had taking a life become such a challenge for him? Yet, despite his words, he felt an inexplicable reluctance to kill Fengyun Wuji.
A peal of laughter echoed across the peak, “Hahaha! You Wuxie, you’ve tripped in the gutter, struck into the mountain by a mere stripling. What a colossal loss of face! Hurry, everyone come see our Han Chi Tian Mo’s mighty display, sent flying by his own apprentice.” A young man in a black robe, his long hair billowing, appeared behind You Wuxie, a dark long sword strapped to his back, mocking You Wuxie as he tread upon the void.
“You interfere with my affairs when it’s not your place,” You Wuxie declared, his voice devoid of warmth. Abruptly, he flicked a finger, launching a spark of flame that danced with hues of red and blue, silently streaking towards the young man.
“Ice and Fire Finger,” the youth’s face paled as he recognized the technique. With a deft movement, he evaded the dual-hued fire, narrowly escaping its path.
The spark, upon contact with the towering ice peak, swelled and erupted into an inferno, expanding rapidly. The red and blue flames engulfed the summit, the fire leaping high into the sky.
“Well done,” the young man gritted out, “I didn’t expect that in such a short time, you’ve mastered such a formidable Ice and Fire Finger.” He seethed, “You’ve destroyed my abode; I, Na Lan Ruo Rong, will remember this.”
“Your strength speaks volumes. Evil Sword, you’ve grasped this truth early on,” You Wuxie stated with pride.
“Indeed, I no longer need this abode. I’ve taken a liking to the cave on the eastern ice peak. I’ll pay a visit and request the current occupant to vacate. Until we meet again, farewell.” Without further ado, Na Lan Ruo Rong turned and left.
“Farewell,” You Wuxie responded with a respectful gesture.
A few steps later, Na Lan Ruo Rong suddenly spun around, his dark long sword unsheathing with a ringing sound. As the sword left its scabbard, the clouds above churned, and a terrifying aura burst forth, shaking the heavens and the stars.
Sweeping his sword, Na Lan Ruo Rong unleashed a bolt of sword energy, vast and powerful, cutting through the air towards You Wuxie. The distance, dozens of zhang, was traversed in an instant, the sword tip nearly touching You Wuxie’s chest as it was unsheathed.
“You, Evil Sword, are well-known to me, Han Chi Tian Mo. I’ve been waiting for this,” You Wuxie cackled, undeterred by the imminent strike, his palm striking towards Na Lan Ruo Rong’s shoulder.
In the palm of You Wuxie that moved towards him, a flame of red and blue was particularly eye-catching. Na Lan Ruo Rong seemed extremely wary of this flame, retreating swiftly, yet his sword struck even faster at You Wuxie. As the sword left his hand, the world echoed with a shrill howl, as if ten thousand souls wailed in the air.
“This person has an overwhelming murderous aura; I wonder what kind of cruel technique he has cultivated. Judging by this momentum, it seems this evil sword has drunk an alarming amount of human blood.”
You Wuxie appeared to recognize the might of this sword, retracting his right palm, and striking out several times, forcing the evil sword away. But not far off, the young man, with a sword formula in his right hand, waved continuously, actually entangling You Wuxie in a duel with the sword formula.
“Na Lan Ruo Rong, I had intended to show mercy, but don’t push me to use my full power,” You Wuxie warned coldly, his face as if frostbitten.
Na Lan Ruo Rong knew he was no match, but he could not show weakness. The cultivators of the evil path in this area had already been alarmed. Thousands of divine consciousnesses swept unscrupulously back and forth in this space, observing the battle here. In front of so many peers, how could Na Lan Ruo Rong afford to lose face? At this moment, he couldn’t help but feel bitter. If he had known You Wuxie had perfected the Ice and Fire Finger, he shouldn’t have come out to mock him. Now he was in a dilemma.
“I will not fear you, take this move,” Na Lan Ruo Rong said, gathering his hands in front of his chest, both hands curved into a dome shape. In the blink of an eye, a long sword made of shadows appeared between his hands. The shadow sword split into two, then four, then eight, until twenty-four shadow swords lined up before him.
“You Wuxie, take my Shadow of Death!” Na Lan Ruo Rong’s expression was fierce as he let out a long howl, his long hair flying, his body rising high, commanding from above, flinging out these twenty-four shadow swords. The swords flew from his hands and almost instantly vanished from sight.
You Wuxie’s face changed: “You dare to use this ultimate technique here, hum, if you dare to use it, why should I be afraid?” You Wuxie snorted coldly, a frost storm burst out from his body, radiating around him, and where it reached, even the air was frozen, forming large pieces of mysterious ice.
Pop pop pop! With each crisp sound, You Wuxie’s face turned paler. But You Wuxie’s decades of hard cultivation were not to be underestimated; the invisible frost storm slightly weakened but continued to expand outward with undiminished momentum.
Na Lan Ruo Rong let out a fierce howl, his clothes inflated, and a visible black air burst out from his body, rolling towards the surroundings like an avalanche, colliding with the energy emitted by You Wuxie in an instant.
Boom boom boom!
A series of explosions resounded through the sky, and invisible shockwaves rippled out in circles. Where the shockwaves reached, mountains collapsed, and countless tall ice peaks broke off at the peak, with ice blocks falling like rain. The nearby evil sect cultivators who were cultivating had left a trace of divine consciousness outside their bodies, and they had flashed out of their caves and into the void before the shockwaves hit the peaks. Because of this fight, the energy shock caused thousands of figures to appear densely in the nearby space, all of whom were the furious evil cultivators whose caves had been destroyed.
The originally quiet Yuming Peak suddenly became noisy, filled with the cursing of the evil sect.
Whoosh! A black small flag fell from the sky, passing through the two people who were in a stalemate, and fell into the ground not far from Fengyun Wuji. The whole flag, only the flag face was left on the ice layer. On the black gold-plated silk flag, there were characters on both the front and back, the front was a ‘broken’ character, and the back was a ‘perish’ character.
A dark shadow flashed from the horizon, but it was a middle-aged man in a green shirt. The man’s electric eyes swept across the faces of the people, then stared at the two people who were fighting, and said in a sharp voice: “The order of the Daoist Lord of the Destruction has been issued, and the Han Chi Tian Mo You Wuxie and the evil sword Na Lan Ruo Rong are quickly seen in the Destruction Hall.”
After speaking, he raised his hand and took the small flag into his hand, and without looking back, he flashed away, disappearing at the horizon in the blink of an eye.
You Wuxie and Na Lan Ruo Rong’s faces changed wildly at the same time when the small flag appeared. When the green-shirted middle-aged man finished speaking, they both said loudly: “Yes!”
And the evil sect people who were originally surrounding around, at the same time when the small flag appeared, as if they saw the demon, they all hid away at the same time…
