Chapter 85: Crescent Moon Gate

There are only three contacts in the manual.

Their code names are Accounting Book, Diary, and Notes, but only Notes is illuminated.

“It appears that Halo Fire still cannot break through the spatial barrier. Never mind, let me leave a message for Wang Yao.”

Yun Ye’s finger glided across the surface, (Wang Yao, act according to plan. Notify me if you find Shi Baiyan, Tong Yuan, or the others.)

Soon, Wang Yao replied, (No problem!)

Yun Ye glanced at Wang Yao’s current location…

Fifty kilometers away!

Knowing he would soon enter the Secret Realm, Yun Ye added a location display function to the four Halo Books.

Of course, only Yun Ye could see it; others did not have that permission.

In this Secret Realm, the distance between Yun Ye and Wang Yao alone is fifty kilometers, which is indeed quite vast.

The entire safe zone of Baishi Town is probably not even fifty kilometers in diameter.

Moreover…

“The spirit energy concentration here is over ten times higher than in the depths of Hongshan! What kind of paradise is this?”

Yun Ye was astonished.

If someone could control this Secret Realm, their foundation would instantly surpass the Ji family of Baishi Town!

It is said that all Secret Realms are small worlds opened up by ancient powers, and the current conditions differ greatly from their former might!

Yun Ye found it hard to imagine the splendor of the Crescent Moon Secret Realm during its peak!

“Is it truly called the Crescent Moon Secret Realm for a reason?”

After walking for a while, the clouds finally revealed the “sun” that illuminated the land.

It was a very false sight, clearly just a projected white moon.

However, this moon emitted brightness just like the sun, helping everything in the Secret Realm to flourish.

Under the observation of the Eye of Invisible Light, this moon was a terrifyingly vast accumulation of spirit energy.

No person from Baishi Town possessed such overwhelming spirit energy.

Perhaps this was the reason why those judges did not enter.

Yun Ye continued walking through the wheat fields and soon spotted a clear little stream, shallow enough to see through, without any lurking monsters.

“Is there… someone here?”

Yun Ye looked over and saw a fisherman with a fish basket quietly fishing in the stream. Using the Eye of Invisible Light to observe, he found the man’s life energy was nearly nonexistent.

This did not mean he was dead; rather, he had not cultivated the Qi Cultivation Technique, and his life energy remained dormant within his body. Unless he entered a microscopic state, this kind of subtle energy would not be visible.

The lack of life energy in this fisherman indicated that he was an ordinary person who had not practiced Qi Cultivation.

The presence of an ordinary person in this Secret Realm clearly did not originate from the official forces of Baishi Town.

After pondering for a moment, Yun Ye approached, ready to make contact.

“Little fish, oh little fish, swimming freely…”

The middle-aged fisherman hummed a tune, aiming his spear with precision and speed, spearing a plump fish in one swift motion.

He leaned the spear against his waist, and the fish slipped into his basket.

Just as he was about to continue, a voice suddenly rang out from behind him.

“Are you a person living in the Secret Realm?”

The fisherman turned around in shock.

Five meters away stood a young man, dressed in metallic Black Armor, with a sword at his waist. He was strong and powerful, and what stood out most were his fiery red eyes, which revealed a hint of the extraordinary.

This attire was clearly different from the villagers, and according to him, such a person wouldn’t appear elsewhere.

“Are you a… trial participant?”

The fisherman showed a warm smile.

“A trial participant? Interesting, tell me more.”

Yun Ye responded.

“You don’t even know about the trials in the Crescent Moon Secret Realm? Then why have you come here? This is just a dead zone with no future.”

The fisherman seemed surprised.

“I came here for the Spiritual Herbs. It seems there are many things I do not know about this Secret Realm. Would you mind sharing?”

Yun Ye sighed.

Since these ordinary people had lived here for generations, Baishi Town could not possibly be unaware of it.

The reason it wasn’t mentioned must be either that it posed no danger or it would affect herb gathering efficiency.

What is a trial?

What does ‘dead zone’ mean?

“Of course I don’t mind; it’s our duty! Please follow me; the villagers will treat you well.”

The fisherman smiled and stepped out of the stream, encouraging Yun Ye to follow.

His heart was filled with goodwill.

Even as a beginner in Spirit Law, Yun Ye could clearly sense the fisherman’s kindness as they silently walked back to the village together.

During their journey, several monsters appeared and attacked Yun Ye.

But the fisherman showed no sign of fear.

The monsters would not attack them.

“Our Zhu Village has existed here for generations, guided by the responsibilities of the trial participants. As long as we don’t step beyond a certain boundary, we won’t be attacked by monsters,” the fisherman explained, a matter-of-fact tone in his voice. He had never before seen a human attacked by monsters.

Clearly, things were getting interesting.

The Crescent Moon Secret Realm was not just a place for gathering Spiritual Herbs; its existence held other significance.

The fisherman’s village was not far off, but they needed to cross a small hill to reach it.

There were fewer than twenty small houses, mostly wooden structures.

The village had chickens and dogs that roamed around, unafraid of people, adding a lively rural atmosphere.

“Dad, you’re back! Wow, so many fish! Are we going to have fish for dinner?!”

When the fisherman entered the village, a little girl around ten years old jumped into his arms, her face beaming with excitement.

“Ha ha, Xiao Qing, these fish can’t compare to our chickens and ducks. We have guests; we shouldn’t be so humble.”

The fisherman secured the spear at his waist and lifted the little girl, laughing.

“Esteemed trial participant, this is my daughter, Qing. She just turned eleven and doesn’t quite understand yet. Come, say hello.”

The fisherman gently shook his daughter.

“Esteemed trial participant!”

Xiao Qing exclaimed, her eyes wide and voice bright.

“…Hello.”

In modern times, Yun Ye generally did not enjoy the company of children, but these children were different; they were incredibly sensible, and Yun Ye had no reason to dislike them.

Yun Ye had experienced this sensibility during his farming days.

Xiao Yue was just his second child; his first child had been five years old when he died. Yet, that five-year-old could do everything – wash clothes, boil water, cook, and chop wood. They did as many chores as they could.

Poor families in this era were likely all like that…

But here, everything felt very different.

As Yun Ye walked into the village with the fisherman, he saw laughter and cheerfulness, completely devoid of the heaviness and numbness often found in villages near Baishi Town. The old folks, women, and children all wore happy smiles.

Each welcomed Yun Ye warmly, addressing him as “esteemed trial participant.”

Eventually, they led Yun Ye to a stone tablet.

“Fallen from Heaven, Crescent Moon, only I can enter the Gate of Heaven!”

“Those who pass the trials may enter the Gate of Heaven in the Crescent Moon, learn the Spiritual Law of the Heaven Gate, and attain freedom!”
