Chapter 11: The Five Realms of Qi Cultivation Technique
After finishing his class in the Qi hall, Yun Ye went to the literacy hall for the second period.
While it was called a literacy class, it was not just about recognizing words.
The teacher was also a man in a blue robe, but he was even colder than Yu Yu. He said, “I am your literacy teacher. I will teach for only one hour each day. Class is starting.”
This teacher was straightforward and efficient.
He began lecturing to himself.
He didn’t care whether the children could learn or not.
Fortunately, Yun Ye had dealt with college entrance exams and mastered the art of memorization, so learning wasn’t too difficult for him.
He simply wrote diligently, and as he learned more, he began to form sentences and write essays, repeating this process to solidify his memory.
Of course, not everyone had such drive. The Qi Cultivation Technique could change one’s fate, but could literacy do the same?
The answer to this question was unclear. So, out of the twenty-one children in the class, although most listened attentively in the first few lessons, they gradually became lax as the course went on, focusing more on Qi Cultivation Technique and martial arts, half-giving up on literacy.
Only a few, including Yun Ye, who were very aware of the situation, worked hard. They not only learned what the teacher taught but also studied on their own to advance further.
From then on, every time class ended, Yun Ye could be seen holding scrolls, drawing characters in the dirt with a twig, constantly reinforcing his memory.
To simplify his learning, Yun Ye even used a phonetic system that didn’t exist in this world.
At mealtimes, Yun Ye was never late, and after eating until he was full, he practiced the Qi Cultivation Technique, cultivating his life energy.
He devoted all his other time to practicing the “Tiger Fist” martial art taught in the martial arts hall.
This routine kept Yun Ye in great spirits, making his studies exceptionally effective!
In this way, Yun Ye studied diligently for a whole year.
“Class dismissed.”
Yun Ye held his scroll, reading as he walked toward the Qi hall.
Next to him was a lean boy about eleven years old named Wang Yao, a friend he had made in the literacy hall over the past year.
Wang Yao was one of the few classmates who didn’t mind Yun Ye’s throat problem.
Wang Yao scratched his head and said, “I say, Shi Tou, isn’t recognizing most words enough for literacy? Why do you carry that book around every day? What’s the point of that book anyway?”
The book was titled *A Detailed Account of the Three States*.
In just one year at the Academy, Yun Ye had already learned most characters, and he was not far from being able to write.
However, Yun Ye felt helpless because the characters in this world were similar to traditional Chinese characters, making them very complex and hard to memorize. Additionally, with the ancient setting, it was difficult to obtain paper and ink, which created a learning challenge.
Otherwise, he should have been able to learn faster.
To truly master the characters, reading stories was the best choice, as it could help him practice while also gaining more knowledge.
*The Detailed Account of the Three States* contained much information that Yun Ye could not obtain elsewhere.
For example, the place where Baishi Town was located was actually called Huangzhou, which was one of the territories ruled by the Luo Dynasty.
Perhaps for those who had always lived in Huangzhou’s Baishi Town, knowing about the outside world was meaningless.
But Yun Ye was not an ordinary case and could not be treated in the same way.
“It’s useful.”
Yun Ye said as he continued to look down at his book, leaving Wang Yao feeling helpless. He thought that this was pointless; reading this was less useful than studying the *Detailed Account of Monsters*, which could at least help with tests and battles.
……
In the Qi hall,
This lesson, Yu Yu once again talked about the different levels of the Qi Cultivation Technique, but it was clearer than before.
The Qi Cultivation Technique has a total of five stages!
The first stage is the Entry Level!
In this stage, one must master the standard posture and resonate with the incantation during practice, extracting the essence of food and transforming it into vital energy. Once accomplished, one enters the entry level.
The second stage is the Foundation Level!
Consistently practicing the Qi Cultivation Technique gradually enlarges the vital energy, creating a sensation of Qi. When this sensation appears, it signals that a foundation has been established, indicating the practice has begun to tap into one’s potential, and the base is being solidified!
This step is very important and is the foundation of everything; hence, it is called “foundational.”
The third stage is the Minor Achievement!
When the sensation of Qi is just born, it is very weak, indicating that the cultivation of one’s potential is still in the early stages. As one accumulates daily, when the sensation of Qi expands to fill the entire chest cavity, it is considered a minor achievement.
At this stage, one has the opportunity to awaken their Spiritual Roots; most people complete the awakening of their roots here.
“There are always some individuals whose Spiritual Roots are powerful and require a stronger physique to bear. They do not awaken their roots in the Minor Achievement stage but instead accumulate further to reach the next level.”
“That is the fourth stage, the Major Achievement!”
“In the Major Achievement stage, the sensation of Qi fills the limbs, completely awakening one’s potential. This is the most suitable stage to awaken the Spiritual Roots.”
“Unless one has exceptional talent, it is very rare for someone to rely on themselves to achieve this stage before the age of sixteen. If any of you can reach the Major Achievement, you can directly become reserves for the Black Armored Army.”
Yu Yu said this while shaking his head.
Though he said this, none of the students here could achieve it.
It was just too difficult.
The Black Armored Army is the elite force of the government, with harsh selection criteria, consisting of the best Spiritual Roots revival practitioners, a number that has never exceeded fifty.
Thus, it is evident that the Major Achievement must have its uniqueness; otherwise, how could one have the qualifications to join?
“Teacher, what about the fifth stage?”
“The fifth stage? You’d best not think too much about it. This level, even without further consumption of food, can achieve a perpetual cycle as long as one continues to practice, and a person can awaken their own Spiritual Roots at any time. Because of this, the difficulty is ten to twenty times more than the Major Achievement; you won’t have the opportunity in your lifetime.”
Yu Yu showed no interest in this level and felt there was no need to discuss it.
Ordinary people could never reach the perfect state.
This field belonged solely to the descendants of powerful families.
He knocked on the table. “Don’t aim too high, keep practicing the Qi Cultivation Technique, and improving your physique is the real goal!”
“Now, after a year, how many of you have reached the later stage of the Foundation Level, let alone the Major Achievement?”
“Raise your hands if you have!”
In the Qi hall, out of fifteen children, only one raised his hand.
It was a boy named Zhou Xian, who looked proudly at everyone.
The children in the Ping and Ding class had poor talent, and their future was worrying, but the wealthy do not necessarily have the same concerns.
For example, Zhou Xian ate Superior Food three times a day, which allowed him to progress rapidly and advance to the later stage of the Foundation Level in just a year, likely reaching the Minor Achievement soon.
Poor people clearly could not afford such luxury.
Although advancing to the Major Achievement and then to perfection is also difficult even with wealth, as long as they can go further than ordinary people, that is enough.
This is the essential difference between them and ordinary people.
“Do you see? After a year, only Zhou Xian has entered the later stage of the Foundation Level, while the Major Achievement is several times harder, and Perfection is ten to twenty times more difficult than the Major Achievement. Are you willing to spend thirty to fifty years practicing the basics?”
“Zhou Xian, you are doing well. You’ll likely reach the Minor Achievement within a month. The Minor Achievement has the opportunity to awaken the Spiritual Roots, so from today, you will report to the Awakening Hall to awaken your Spiritual Roots as soon as possible.”
“Thank you, Teacher!” Zhou Xian said excitedly.
The Awakening Hall is where the method for awakening Spiritual Roots is taught, greatly increasing the chances of awakening.
Once the Spiritual Roots awaken, they will "wake up" and no longer remain dormant, transforming them into true beings!
