We stared at each other in silence, Kyoichiro Yanagisawa and I bumped into each other in the boys’ restroom.

“I’m sorry. But it seems the teacher won’t be satisfied unless I tell him.”
With a shrug, Karen narrowed her crimson eyes and turned to Kyoichiro.
“She’s on her period.”
“Huh…?”
“And it seems to be a particularly heavy one. She was too embarrassed to deal with it in the busy girls’ restroom.”
“So… that’s why she used the boys’ restroom…?”
“Yes. You see, this is a girls’ school, right? During breaks, the girls’ restroom often becomes a place for idle chat. So… I suggested she use the empty boys’ restroom instead.”

I left the boys’ restroom with Karen.
I glance over my shoulder to see how Kyoichiro is doing, but he doesn’t seem to have any doubts about what we said.
He just looked apologetic, his brows furrowed in regret.

After we left the staff boys’ restroom, Karen led me to the back of the school building, where there were fewer people. She let go of my hand and let out a big sigh.
