Volume 1: First Performance: A Tragic Love Story Of A Young Lady And Spring Cherry Blossoms
Chapter 22: The Cross-Dressing Boy Decides To Trick His Father
Together with Honoka, they move to the edge of the practice room and begin practicing.
When I opened the script, I found detailed information about the scene I would be performing at the audition.
Apparently the audition will involve performing the scene in which Romeo and Juliet meet on the bridge and then reunite at the Capulet ball.
Well, it’s impressive that they chose such minor scenes.
I thought for sure they would choose the most famous scene in Romeo and Juliet – the scene where Juliet confesses her feelings to Romeo from the balcony, or the scene where Juliet chases after Romeo and takes her own life.
This choice will probably pose a difficult scene for students who are not very familiar with Romeo and Juliet.
“So, Onee-sama… which role should we assign you…?”
Honoka spoke up with a nervous look on her face.
I smiled at her and opened my mouth.
“Well… Honoka-san, do you have any desires or desires for which role you would like to play?”
“Um, well… not me… but Honoka thinks you’d be good in the role of Romeo.”
“Am I playing Romeo?”
“Yes. I think a cool and stylish older sister would suit a male role. And… I feel like the heroine who falls in love with her older sister is the perfect role for me.”
“Fall in love…?”
“Ah… Aaaahhhh!! N-Nothing!!! C-Come on, let’s start practicing, Onee-sama!!”
“Yes… that’s right, isn’t it?”
Following Honoka, who was hastily flipping through the pages of the script, I did the same.
…It’s been a while since I last acted. And with only three hours of rehearsals, it was practically a live performance.
And the judge was that damn father, the reason why I quit acting.
[—Honestly, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have any complicated feelings.]
I’m quite scared of facing the man who dumped Rurika and me on the Hananomiya family and then abandoned us.
The thought of performing in front of him again makes my hands tremble and my throat go parched.
I can’t help but feel scared that my father will look at me again as if I were trash and give up on me.
But… but right now I’m not “Fuuma Yanagisawa”. I’m “Kaede Kisaragi”.
If I continued to act as Fuuma Yanagisawa, I’m sure he would easily see through my true identity.
That’s why I’ll become Kaede Kisaragi.
Kaede Kisaragi is just an amateur actor who has never even heard of Kyoichiro Yanagisawa.
…To be honest, I think it would be quite a challenge to act in a way that would fool the likes of Kyoichiro Yanagisawa.
But it’s fine.
I don’t know if he’s a world-famous actor or something, but I’m going to blind him with these hands.
An actor is a conman who dances wildly on stage, perfectly tracing the mind of the character in the script, elevating himself to another being, and fooling the audience.
It was you, Kyoichiro Yanagisawa, who taught me that the true nature of an actor is that of a conman – so I’m going to fool you completely.
As Kaede Kisaragi, I’ll drive you crazy, Kyoichiro.

“Wow… third period is almost over. Hey, how are the kids doing, Yuuji?”
Leaving the waiting room, Kyoichiro Yanagisawa yawned loudly and called out to the man with short hair who was watching over the students – Yuuji Wagatsuma.
Yuuji shot a quick glance at Kyoichiro’s face, then turned his gaze back to the students practicing hard, and quietly began to speak.
“Really? The students are working hard, and yet you’re taking a nap. I still don’t think you’re cut out to be a teacher, Kyoichiro.”
“Well, I suppose so too. But I have to be a teacher at this school for some reason. Please cut me some slack.”
Saying this, Kyoichiro stood next to Yuuji, looked around at the students, and let out a big sigh.
“Just as I thought, it seems like there aren’t many good candidates. If I had to say, the only student I would be happy to teach directly would be Akane Tsukishiro.”
“Akane Tsukishiro is in a class of her own. Her acting skills have been high since she was a child actress. However… a certain genius prevented her from getting the attention of the public during her time as a child actress. Perhaps as a reaction to this, her high level of acting ability is now gradually being recognized by those around her. She is an incredible talent who does not get carried away by her talent and continues to work hard.”
“A certain genius? Who are you talking about?”
“You… seriously. Speaking of genius child actors, it has to be your son, Kyoichiro. Nowadays, his name is being forgotten, but Fuuma Yanagisawa was undoubtedly a maverick. He was not just any other genius. He was a real genius, on par with you.”
“He’s not someone who deserves that much praise. That kid is just an idiot. Not a genius.”
Kyoichiro said, letting out a short sigh and turning his gaze to Yuuji beside him.
“Well, that means Akane Tsukishiro will be the main lead. Okay then, Yuuji, you’ll be the only judge from now on. I’ll leave the casting of the other roles up to you. Well then, I think I’m going to get some more sleep. Farewell.”
“Wait, Kyoichiro. There’s another interesting candidate for this audition.”
“Huh? From what I saw during the rehearsal earlier, there wasn’t a single student who stood out.”
“Hehe. For some reason, that student seems to be hiding his fangs during practice… She doesn’t seem to be showing her true nature. Or maybe she’s just trying out new performances. Anyway, there was one student who was different from the other students.”
“Wow, if you say so, that’s impressive. What’s her name?”
“—Kaede Kisaragi. She’s not affiliated with any production company, she’s just an amateur girl.”
Kyoichiro tilted his head in confusion at those words, then he turned his gaze to where Yuuji was pointing – a platinum blonde girl practicing with a girl with a bun at the edge of the practice field.
“‥‥What‥‥?”
When he saw the blonde girl who looked exactly like his late wife, he couldn’t help but let out a cry of confusion.
