Volume 6 Chapter 102
by Golden DragonVolume 6 + Chapter 102: A Miscalculation
“The Justice Bringer absolutely must not be allowed to roam free.”
“He is the most vicious criminal ever born in Molent City.”
“Tonight, he must be eliminated no matter what. Everyone, understand?!”
Kennedy stood before the security patrol, rallying them with a loud speech.
“Yes, Lord City Lord!!”
The patrol members responded in unison, their voices powerful and resolute.
Several thousand people against one person.
Who held the advantage here? Was there even a need to ask?
“That damned Justice Bringer… to think he dared deceive me.”
Kennedy stared anxiously at the office building that had already been blasted into a honeycomb.
Because he had mistaken the Justice Bringer for a Human Envoy, he had revealed many things that should never have been spoken aloud.
For example, information regarding the Envoys and the Queen, the reasons behind the city’s stability…
Of course, those weren’t the deadliest secrets.
The truly critical issue was the anomaly.
If the people of Molent City learned that an anomaly had appeared within the city, panic would inevitably spread. Massive civilian evacuations would follow, and the entire situation would spiral beyond control.
The carefully maintained order would collapse.
Justice Bringer had learned things he never should have known.
Before he exposed the truth, Kennedy intended to silence him by any means necessary.
Kennedy had issued an unprecedented five-star wanted order against the Justice Bringer and even deployed prototype helicopters and Vulcan cannons that were still under internal testing, all for the sake of killing this one person.
Yet who could have imagined that despite the relentless pursuit, Justice Bringer not only survived, but even shot down a helicopter?
The losses Kennedy suffered were enormous.
“Lord City Lord, the security patrol has fully assembled,” one subordinate reported. “We’ve completely sealed off the building, including the airspace.”
“Good. I understand.”
“Should we send helicopters to approach the third floor and strafe the target?”
“…No. Let the helicopters remain on standby in the air for now.”
Though Kennedy appeared unconcerned on the surface, inwardly he was aching over the destroyed helicopter.
Those machines were incredibly expensive and difficult to manufacture. If more were destroyed, the losses would become unbearable.
Besides, with so many personnel here already, that should be enough to eliminate Justice Bringer.
“Deploy the elite units of the security patrol. Use enchanted weapons to eliminate the Justice Bringer,” Kennedy ordered. “Firearms are useless against him. Stop wasting bullets!”
“Yes, sir!”
The order was quickly relayed throughout the force.
“This is getting troublesome. If all those helicopters start firing Vulcan cannons at me simultaneously, the Human King Armor probably won’t last even a few minutes before deactivating.”
Xia Yi felt the situation becoming increasingly difficult.
If possible, she really did not want to expose her identity…
But then she noticed the helicopters were not descending. They continued hovering in the sky while the ground forces began advancing instead.
Those patrol members had abandoned firearms and were wielding elemental enchanted weapons, intending to subdue her in close combat.
Although she didn’t know why they weren’t using the helicopters anymore, this was excellent news.
Close combat was her specialty.
Looks like she could hold out a little longer.
“Justice Bringer, accept your punishment!!”
Elite patrol members leapt up to the third floor, forming combat formations as they charged toward Xia Yi.
The one leading the assault wielded a battle axe whose blade glowed with crimson light, scorching the air around it.
It was a fire-element enchantment.
“Coming unarmed? You really think too little of us!” the elite member shouted arrogantly.
Xia Yi indeed held no weapon.
But… she could make one at any time.
She casually reached into a crack in the wall, grabbed hold of cold metal, and yanked out a steel rebar.
“You’re courting death! A mere steel bar? Watch me shatter it in one strike!”
The elite member raised his battle axe and hacked toward Xia Yi, intending to cleave her body in half at the waist.
But how could Xia Yi possibly allow that?
Without the slightest hesitation, she swung the twisted rebar upward, colliding directly against the enchanted weapon.
Sparks exploded wildly through the air, illuminating both the golden mask of the armor and the elite member’s stunned face.
One side remained perfectly calm.
The other was questioning reality itself.
An utterly absurd scene unfolded before everyone’s eyes,
The fire-enchanted battle axe couldn’t even cut through a single piece of rebar!
“You people rely too much on your weapons,” Xia Yi commented coldly.
She raised her leg and kicked the elite member backward during the clash, then immediately ripped another rebar from the wall and smashed it toward him.
The elite member instinctively raised his axe to defend himself.
But Xia Yi’s sword aura sliced straight through the weapon.
The man was blasted away like a cannonball, flying from the third floor and crashing into the crowd below, the resulting shockwave knocking over a huge number of people.
Xia Yi spared none of the remaining elite members either. With effortless swordsmanship, she defeated them all with ease.
The entire process took less than ten seconds.
Everyone watching was utterly dumbfounded.
But it still wasn’t over.
Holding two steel rebars in her hands, Xia Yi leapt down from the third floor and landed directly amidst the crowd.
At that moment, the nature of the battle completely reversed.
Hunter and prey seemed to switch places.
The golden armored swordsman unleashed exquisite sword techniques, knocking down patrol members one after another in movements as fluid and graceful as dancing itself, tearing a path straight through the crowd.
“This is bad…!”
Kennedy cursed inwardly.
His judgment had been wrong.
The patrol members had instead become shields protecting Justice Bringer.
If the helicopters fired Vulcan cannons now, then with Justice Bringer’s mobility, the patrol members would probably be wiped out before the target was even hit.
“That should be enough. If I keep playing around any longer, I’ll really expose myself.”
Using chant suppression, Xia Yi condensed an enormous fireball in the sky, then struck it with torrents of water magic.
Steam exploded outward as the water evaporated, and dense white mist quickly engulfed the battlefield.
Seizing the opportunity, she moved swiftly through the crowd like a fish slipping through water, retreating from the area.
“Don’t let Justice Bringer escape! Chase him!!” Kennedy shouted. “Helicopters, pursue!”
“Lord Kennedy, we can’t see anything!”
Whether it was the patrol forces or the helicopters, the thick mist reduced visibility to nearly zero. Tracking anyone was impossible.
“You useless idiots!!”
Kennedy’s blood pressure practically skyrocketed.
“Use magic to disperse the fog, morons!!”
“Yes, sir!”
The magic-capable members of the patrol hurriedly began chanting spells. After quite some time, they finally cast wind magic strong enough to blow the mist away.
But by the time visibility returned,
The golden armor had already vanished.
…
Molent City, inside an alley on some random street.
The moment Xia Yi stepped inside, the Human King Armor’s possession state finally ended, revealing her original appearance.
“Hah… that really turned into a huge mess. But at least my real identity wasn’t exposed, and I got away safely.”
The silver dragon loli sighed emotionally.
Suddenly, she heard an abrupt noise echo from deeper within the alley.
“Who’s there?!”
