Chapter 230
by Golden DragonChapter 230: Completely Motionless
I really want to rua Mi Xiaoliu.
Yiwen clenched her fists and stretched them forward, stretching lazily like a kitten.
Tiger-girl sneaked a glance at her.
I really want to rua Yiwen.
Class life without Mi Xiaoliu was so boring and dull—waking up from a nap, she couldn’t even tell which period it was anymore.
They said the typhoon had gone toward the metropolis. Hopefully, Mi Xiaoliu’s tiny frame hadn’t been blown away.
Yiwen lay sideways on her desk, dozing off while practicing a new use of her ability through her watch.
This was a geography class. The teacher on the podium was a woman around twenty-five years old.
There wasn’t any of that strange “hot teacher being flirted with by students” situation. Her makeup was clearly visible—heavy powder and eyeliner—and didn’t match the aesthetic tastes of high school students.
Combined with her dull and unengaging teaching style, there were barely any students interested in listening to her lecture.
“We all know that the Shrimp Tail Archipelago has always been one of the most famous vacation destinations in the world. When we mention Shrimp Tail, what’s the first thing we think of? Come on, someone give an example… the girl wearing sunglasses in the corner—stand up and list three characteristics.”
Being suddenly called on, Lu Mingxue frowned, locked her phone, and glanced sideways at Yiwen, who looked all too happy at her misfortune.
Aside from the fat guy, this was the first teacher who dared to call on her.
Weren’t they afraid of getting exposed by her mind-reading ability?
But you couldn’t really blame this teacher. After all, someone sitting indoors with sunglasses on and playing on her phone with her head down was basically treating the teacher like a blind person. That obvious reflection was impossible to ignore.
“Beach, archipelago, Flying Island.”
Lu Mingxue listed three things as neutrally as possible to earn herself the right to sit down.
“Hmm, Flying Island. We all know that the Flying Island actually refers to the youngest and largest island in the Shrimp Tail Archipelago—Shrimp Tail Island, with a total area of about 4,028 square miles, which is twice the combined area of the other islands in the archipelago. It has now become part of history forever…”
The event took place during the Level 5 Great Destruction era.
A meteorite crash drastically altered the world map. Just as the new world map was beginning to sell, the Level 5 Great Destruction once again reshaped the world’s geography.
The most famous among them was the Flying Island incident at Shrimp Tail. It wasn’t famous for being particularly special—but because, even now, its whereabouts are still marked as “unknown.”
The most widely accepted theory is that one night, the entire island was directly lifted into the sky by an ability user—mostly because the local indigenous people all believed that’s what happened.
Younger folks tend to prefer a more fantastical explanation—that Shrimp Tail Island sank into the sea and became the lost civilization of Atlantis.
When she was little, Yiwen was truly stunned by this story and eagerly asked her dad if he could do it. That shameless old man didn’t hesitate to brag that he could do it easily.
“At the time, filming equipment was very primitive, so this explanation still needs further investigation. Actually, during that era, it wasn’t such a bizarre thing. Many experts lean toward the theory that a local’s ability went out of control and destroyed the island. This also illustrates just how severe the consequences of a loss of control can be. You should all work hard to train your abilities at school…”
“Could it still be flying around in the sky right now?”
No need to guess—such a dumb question could only have come from Jim, successfully causing a burst of laughter.
Embarrassed by the laughter, Jim’s face turned red. “If such a huge thing flew off, how come nobody reached out to stop it?”
“……”
———
“Holy crap, isn’t this way more badass than that so-called Supreme Heaven?” Gloria exclaimed.
The true nature of Flying Dirt was revealed.
4028 square miles of land spliced onto the Metropolis harbor—the long-lost Shrimp Tail Island has reappeared in the world.
This is the truth behind Resurrection Day’s Second Division, a city that, under the influence of Supreme Heaven’s ability, had flown in the sky for over a hundred years.
What was truly shocking was that Mi Xiaoliu had pulled it out and used it for a massive area-of-effect attack, once again reshaping Okulet and Gloria’s impression of her.
A Level 5 at age 13—is that even reasonable?
Could it have been because of the Resurrection Day’s experiments…?
Okulet couldn’t help but think in that direction.
Perhaps because the harbor’s seabed was too shallow, the island steadily floated on the sea’s surface. Aside from some sloping on the ground, there was no sign it would sink.
Very different from the lush greenery seen in historical footage, the island now looked entirely like a futuristic city built atop the island—except it was a war-damaged version.
The buildings collapsed as if just emerging from battle, mixed among them were countless fresh-looking corpses. A closer look could even make one momentarily question whether they had stepped into Resident Evil.
The air was thick with the stench of blood drifting everywhere.
None of the buildings here were normal—they were either lab-grade or prison-like.
Overhead was a dome-shaped glass cover.
Not completely transparent—it was supported by many angular frames, making the entire city look like a greenhouse.
But it was strong enough to withstand a typhoon.
Based on Okulet’s knowledge of geography, unless Supreme Heaven had dared to risk diving into the deep sea during that extremely short window, he was likely done for.
Just in case, they ran deep into the island first to ensure they could use their abilities before stopping. If his instincts raised the alarm, Okulet would immediately erase everything in a 60-kilometer hemispherical area ahead.
For now, he didn’t plan on doing that—because the equipment on this island was enough to completely overhaul Heli.
The island’s sudden reappearance at the harbor raised the water level, causing a flood-like phenomenon. Luckily, Big Sis and the others arrived just in time to deal with it.
But considering the issue of water and soil compatibility, the island definitely couldn’t stay here long-term. Once the typhoon passed, Misha would still have to put it away again.
“Old fart, look at this—doesn’t it look like that support rod on your yacht?”
Gloria pulled out an unfamiliar rod-like object and made a gesture at Okulet.
“You itchy-handed brat—don’t touch anything here! Believe it or not, there’s probably viruses or radiation leaks that’ll turn you into a toad?”
Faceless Man snatched it from her and tossed it aside.
Gloria glared at him.
Mi Xiaoliu, ever since coming ashore, hadn’t said a word—quietly curling up in a corner.
Okulet knew the reason. For her, even the purified water here probably felt poisonous.
He took off his jacket and draped it over Mi Xiaoliu, revealing the ugly bright red shirt underneath.
Gently, he pulled his daughter into a hug, giving her the long-overdue care she’d lacked for years.
“You can’t cancel the typhoon?” Okulet looked toward the Faceless Man.
This guy was also someone to be wary of.
“My ability is rated as Level 4, but its danger level is A.”
That one sentence explained everything. The only reason he hadn’t been rated Level 5 was probably lack of control.
“Let’s just wait. If we’re lucky, the wind’ll pass in a day or two. It’s been half a year—who knows if the food on this island is still edible.”
He smashed open the emergency medical kit on the wall with one hand, dug out a high-energy nutrient pack, and chugged it in one go—easing some of the discomfort from nutrient deficiency.
Unfortunately, his hand still couldn’t move—surgery would probably be necessary.
“Why did you attack the police before? Even killed the patrol squad captain.”
“I only kill Resurrection Day people.” A simple and clear answer.
“Why is the Second Fractal hunting you?”
Faceless Man didn’t answer him—instead, he turned to look at Mi Xiaoliu.
“What’s the relationship between you two?”
“I’m her biological father.”
“Mm.”
The Faceless Man didn’t say anything next—he just quietly looked at Mi Xiaoliu for a long time.
Mi Xiaoliu ran off.
“Misha, where are you going?”
Everything here—every blade of grass, every tree—made her extremely uncomfortable.
Her limited memories meant she didn’t recognize every road here. In her memories of the Resurrection Day, she had never seen sunlight.
The architecture was extremely repetitive—no shops, no parks—only structures marked with letters and symbols for distinction.
Relying on her sparse but vivid recollections, she stumbled her way to the location stored in her memory.
A certain research center.
She smashed the glass, slowed her pace, and searched for the transmission room from her memories.
The spherical transport pod, which should have been fixed to the ground, had somehow rolled out into the street. One of the walls had a hole nearly the same size as the pod itself.
But what Mi Xiaoliu was looking for was the corridor outside the transmission room, where that aging Sleeping Beauty once rested in quiet stillness and pity.
Now, there was no sign of life at all.
A hole the size of a mineral water bottle pierced through the woman’s lungs. A large amount of blood had spilled onto the floor—it looked relatively fresh, but had already begun to dry.
Mi Xiaoliu gently nudged her.
No reaction.
She tore apart an apple and fed the pieces into the woman’s mouth.
Still no reaction.
There’s only one reason why someone would be stored inside the system space along with everything else.
Mi Xiaoliu lay down on her the same way she once did with Heli, rubbing her forehead against the woman’s chin.
Cold. Ice cold.
Mi Xiaoliu grabbed her hand and placed it on her own head.
Neither of them moved.
Both of them were—completely still.
—
“Supreme Heaven is dead.”
A tragic report, enough to make the researchers draw crosses and mourn in silence.
Pursuing the Weather Report was supposed to be the simplest task for him. Everything that went wrong could be attributed to one variable, the former Sixth Fractal—and the Second Fractal’s overconfidence.
That the Second Division had fallen into Xiao Mi’s hands was now 90% confirmed, and sacrificing an Executor to obtain this info was not worth it.
And this was the true reason the Resurrection Day had tried to lure her into a forest or an “open field” like that—if Xiao Mi suddenly pulled it out in the city, it would flatten everything.
Whether or not they cared wasn’t the point.
What really mattered was whether Xiap Mi would actually pull it out while in the city.
Inside was one-third of the Resurrection Day’s total equipment and resources—something they could not afford to lose.
Whether Mi Xiaoliu would put it back after the typhoon was irrelevant.
What mattered now was—
The Metropolis had suddenly gained a whole new piece of land, and a lot of people had seen it happen.
